They are the only place in the entire city that has one on display. There were two really shitty demos on the system, NBA (looked like shit, but then again, the NBA games always look like shit) and Motorstorm. Motorstorm was surprisingly boring and though the graphics looked fairly nice, there was quite a bit of slowdown at times. The tilt sensor was fun, but after playing the demo of Motorstorm, I definitely don\'t want the game now. I wish they had Resistance on there at least or something. Oh well. The PS3 is nowhere near as big as everyone was making it out to be. It actually looks really fucking cool standing upright. It\'s very glossy and it\'s so damn reflective you could brush your teeth looking into the damn thing. The main interface is leaps and bounds better than the garbage that was the PS2 interface. I didn\'t get to see much because these dumb asses behind me wanted to play. I heard so many stupid ass fanboyish comments echoing in the background as I was playing. Was kind of funny how misinformed people are. Oh well. The controllers are almost exactly the same, except for the back two trigger buttons are a little bigger and feel a bit different because they push behind the controller a little instead of into it. I don\'t know if I can even explain it.
Anyway...it looks damn cool, but I just wish it had better demos on the system. And it is a lot smaller than what I thought it would be. It is bigger than the PS2 though, no doubt about it.

I had Motorstorm pegged as the game to get. I wonder if other people will share your opinion.
-
There reviewers who played the demo version of Motorstorm who has a completely opposite opinion. And teh slowdown, are you speaking of the impact sequence? I think it\'s supposed to slow down for dramatic affect.

That\'s why we have opinions. The demo is very repetitive and I didn\'t get much out of it other than repetitive racing in pretty environments.

Why would I be talking about the impact sequence? The regular game has some awful slowdown, especially at the very beginning when you first take off the starting line. When all the cars are together, the game is slower than shit. Then it will have moments where it\'s a bit faster but you still notice the slowness of the console trying to render everything.
You basically pick a car or a motorcycle...you race in pretty backgrounds...and there\'s an option for a limited turbo boost that regenerates itself. If you keep flooring it with turbo boost when it gets to red, your vehicle explodes.
The game looks cool, but the slowness coupled with the repetitive gameplay turns me off. And I don\'t give a fuck what reviewers have said about it. That\'s their opinion, this is mine. I\'d highly suggest playing the demo before going out and buying the game because I thought I\'d love it and it just seems like a boring racer to me. It\'s fun for the first few minutes and then...meh...
Just because a reviewer says it\'s good doesn\'t mean you will think it is. Try the demo first.

It\'s a demo. As far as the game reviewers go, they didn\'t mention anything about slowdowns. I believe they have the more updated demo version.
-
The slowdowns are pretty damn obvious. How is it a more updated demo? Best Buy just got this thing in yesterday. And the game (graphically) looks like the newest videos of the game. It\'s not an old demo by any means.
-
yea. people have been saying the same exact thing for bad 360 demos of games. There is not some miraculous fix of the problems a game has. If you dont like the demo, you\'re probably not going to like the retail version. Just a way to keep their hopes up.
All you can do is try the demo yourself and see if the gameplay is repetitive (an even bigger problem than the slowdowns) and if you notice the slowdowns and decide that way.
-
Repetitive? It\'s a racing game. It think that\'s normal for that genre. :)

Here is why I think your demo is different:

Yep seems its an older build. Also demos of certain titles on public places arent always a good method to judge them. Some titles need more time to get a good idea of them and usually on full versions.
-
Why would they put an older inferior version of a demo in a retail demo console? This is probably the first place most people will sample a PS3 game in real life. Pretty important to have your best possible products on display in the demo console.
If that really was a distribution screw up, someone at Sony should be fired for it.

Glad to see that. :)

I\'m going to kill him and leave him on your doorstep.

I played the demo at Target.
What SLOW DOWN? There was none!
