Title: Second job suggestions
Post by: Eiksirf on November 15, 2006, 07:43:13 AM
I\'m looking at my possibilities for buying a house, and it might mean getting a second job. I have a full time day job, 7am - 4pm so I\'d be looking for something part time, a couple nights, maybe weekends, and something easy.

There\'s not a lot of options around here, but I wonder if anyone can recommend something simple that was kind of fun. The only thing I could think of that might be simple cash is movie theater work, but I don\'t know.

when i was delivering pizzas full time there were tons of guys in there like you.  came in on weekends/days to get some easy cash.

Check out Craigslist to see if there\'s anything you may be interested in as well.

Good luck on the house, I\'m still trying to pay off debt!

You could try being a male dancer, Eik.

They don\'t hire me. I\'d put their other dancers out of work by being so goddam sexy.

The reason Timberlake is trying to bring sexy back is because I took it all in the first place.

Whats the point of buying the house when the only thing you can do is sleep there since you\'re working 24/7

there\'s plenty of things you can do out there that can be fun. Working in a book or magazine shop, theater or blockbuster.

The thing is, if you cant afford a house with a regular job I am not sure having a second job is the best of all deal. A second job mean less free time. you reduce your life quality. Having a house creates dept which also reduce your life quality. Having a house is not only paying the bank. It\'s also the regular stop at home depot buying this and that. It\'s also the time you need to clean up, cut the grass, etc..

I think you could do it for a while.. and then ? what will happen when you\'ll be tired of option B ? you\'ll be force to this pattern until you sell your house and go back to the starting case minus the time you spent working on your second job.

The best solution IMO, is get a second. Put all your earnings into a saving accounts and buy the house in a few years :D

Thanks. The house related changes I look forward to, but I agree about the second job quality of life thing. The easiest way would be to rent out the second bedroom in whatever house and stay afloat that way. I\'m considering my options.

Work in retail. If you make your own fun at the job, its a good time. I worked in a drug store for a few years and just fucked around at work and pranked my coworkers and managers and stuff and it turned out to be a fun job (even though the pay sucked). You also meet some weird and interesting people.

Other than the fact that taking on a couple extra night shifts wouldn\'t greatly diminish anyone\'s social status (From what I understand of Eik, actually working 24/7 wouldn\'t affect his social life much, either) there\'s plenty of reasons to own you own house.

I personally can\'t wait for home ownership. I\'d like to live in a shore community (not a beach house but a town near the beach. houses I see aren\'t incredibly bad) if all my plans fall into place. After college, I\'m gonna enter flight school, fly for a while and then go for my commercial license. When I fly commercial jets, I can be raking in 6 figures when I become a captain. This is what I hope for atleast.

Thanks Bob, you make it sound ok. Plus 24/7 might be an improvement. :)

If you think you need the money, definitely get a second job. You can just work weekends or something and still enjoy the house. Just don\'t work friday nights so you can throw parties and give me a call.

Yeah, beats you playing it for 5 hours at home for free.

Eik, just rent out a bedroom. Working sucks, more work sucks even more.
