picking my two up after work today.
both are not being opened and straight to ebay.
3.5k$ buy it now plus free overnight shipping.

if they don\'t sell, i\'ll wait a week and do it again.
people will lose their mind as it gets closer to xmas

my buddy at work got one last night at wal-mart
he claims he\'s keeping it, but i think after playing it for a few weeks and knowing he can resell it for a ridiculous price, he\'ll change his mind

There\'s a sucker willing to pay. With plenty of rich fools willing to part with their cash, might as well take their money.

I\'m a little jealous. You might have to lower your asking price a bit after today, but worst case, you\'ll still make like 3 grand profit. I could use that, heh. Too bad I didn\'t get in the preorder line soon enough.

EDIT: Oh, and I accept PayPal donations

That will be perfect for me seeing how I still want to pick up 2-3 more ps2 games like FFXII and couple others i never bought. Plus my bday is in Apr. so it will be easier to justify spending money on it since my chick will probably split the bill if not pay for it all.

I should have waited like mm. I was going to sell mine on eBay but someone on another site that I post at offered me $3000. I think I could have held out and gotten double that.

BTW, I waited in ZERO lines. lol. Its nice to be good friends with the manager of your local Gamestop. I preordered months before they even had preorder lists. I just walked into the store this morning and walked right out with a shiny new PS3 box. lol.

Maybe I\'ll get a Wii60.

Post by: Deadly Hamster on November 17, 2006, 08:00:04 PM
Alright ive had some time to use my ps3 now for a while.

Thoughts:
The Graphics are not mind-blowing at this point. The system looks nice and the menus are easy to use and I like the Ps-store which has some cool demos to try out (motostorm yay).

Resistence - I love this game. The graphics are nice, but not amazing. The character models are VERY nice, and if everything else was on par with that, id be blown away. The level design is wonderful and the overall graphics of buildings and structures is wonderful. The only thing I don\'t like is some of the textures and the tree-leaves look very last-gen.

Online is where the fun is at, as the online mode seems very deep. The stat tracking is amazing as it gives ribbons and medals for different acomplishments, as well as tracking your ranked and unranked stats and weapon-specific stats and other goodies. The online gameplay is fast paced as you will routinely be going up vs 3-4 enemies at once, in which case you are usually fucked - But if you are the Chimera "rage" mode lets you kick some major ass. Never a slow moment online, no camping. Run N\' Gun as well as sniping works best.

I give Resistence a 9 / 10!

The other game I picked up, not because I was really looking foward to it, just to have another game to play till some better ones come out is Marvel: UA, which I haven\'t had much time with so far. It seems very standard but if you like the marvel universe it is cool to put together a super-team of marvel heroes. I think IGN\'s 7.9/10 rating for this game is about right, as it is a very Average game.

Edit:

Also, overall I\'ve played Xbox 360 (but only in-store) and PS3 now and I do not think the PS3 at this point is much, if at all, better graphically. I have not seen enough games from each system to say which is better, but whichever way it goes they arn\'t that far apart from one another right now. Hopefully Developers stop porting everything and push both consoles limits.

No, "prober" is not proper English. And yes, "tee" is in the dictionary: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tee (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tee)

T-Shirt = Tee Shirt because it\'s shaped like a tee (which is a letter in the alphabet, in case you don\'t know that either).

It also has many other meanings as well.

oh look I made a spelling mistake

I have 2 dictionaries and none of them have the definition of "tee" in it. Now t-shirt is in every English dictionary in existance.
And since  tee has so many meanings how on earth would I know which of all the meanings it was directed at?
It seems "tee" is a newly added word in dictionaries after frequent use of it

Anyways unlike you I have an excuse for every grammar or spelling mistake I make. English is not my first language. ;)

What are you talking about? Tee is not slang, it\'s a letter. A T-shirt is a shirt shaped like a Tee. And gonna is in the dictionary, but it is an informal contraction and does not sound right. Then again, a lot of English words don\'t sound right. And mother fucker is a real term. Don\'t know why you have to ghetto it up with your weird spelling. ;)

But kudos to you for learning a language that is not only hard, but incredibly ridiculous because it is an orgy compilation of many different languages and many of the words don\'t follow any of the rules of English. You seem to have a fairly good grasp on the language (more than a lot of people I know whose second language is English), so good for you.

I still think you should get a text dictionary and not a color-by-number, picture-filled Cyprus dictionary. :)

Exactly. Tee doesnt equal to t-shirt. "Tee" just refers to anything shaped like a T.
And that was my point about certain words. Words like "gonna" "wanna" arent prober english but they are added in the dictionary because they are used commonly everyday especially in an age like ours. So informal not-so-correct english words are added in new dictionaries. Old dictionaries which are trying to be grammatically correct to genuine clean english (if such a description can be used) lack many of these words
And I am using a very thick text dictionary ;)

Wanna and gonna aren\'t in the dictionary dumb dumb. They\'re these words called "slang". Its this informal way of speaking. Gonna and wanna are used online because its easier to type than "going to" and "want to". But they were used in slang first orally. Who knows though. Slang words have ended up in the dictionary and now used as common language or more accepted.

Words like "gonna" "wanna" arent prober english but they are added in the dictionary because they are used commonly everyday especially in an age like ours.
Dude! What the crap is wrong with you? You just wrote "prober" again. It\'s PROPER with a "p". At least learn something in the midst of all of this.

And just because it\'s used (wanna, gonna, etc...) , doesn\'t make it right. I know it\'s common, but English is like that (which is why it\'s so hard for people to learn it). But those words are more conversational than proper. You wouldn\'t write those words in an English paper. You\'d get marked down considerably.

Exactly. Tee doesnt equal to t-shirt. "Tee" just refers to anything shaped like a T.
No it doesn\'t. It has many different meanings.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tee (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tee)

English is a language where one word can mean a whole bunch of different things. Yet another reason why English is hard to learn.

I\'ve actually caught myself doing that by accident. Thankfully the automatic spell checker on word caught that for me before I printed it out. I love those red squiggles :) What\'s better is Firefox now has automatic spell checkers so I can see if things are spelled right on forums and stuff....though I usually don\'t care :shy:

indeed I made a mistake. Its just a bad habit. I need more practice with some words because I dont write English as extensively as you do ;)

thats not what makes english hard. All languages have words that may mean a ton of things. More complicated than "tee" too.
But things like "Tee" actually make modern English easier and simplified. Because some "words" are way too general and simple some tend to use them creatively. It gives more flexibility and freedom.

The dictionary links you are posting are updated to today\'s needs. "Tee" alone indicates to nothing and its not a word. Its mostly a description of "T" shaped things and has a meaning only if used with another word. It\'s there to help people know what it stands for in front of words.

The "tee" used in golf is probably the only real use of it as a word (and the only use of it in my old dictionary).

You know the expression "teed off" when you\'re pissed? Yeah, anger is shaped like a "T". :stick: And there still are many definitions of the word that have nothing to do with the shape.

Also...I got my PS3. Resistance is surprisingly fun. :thumb:

It\'s freaking awesome. The GUI seems like an afterthought compared to the 360, though. The online store is crap. And unlike the 360, you can\'t download multiple things and go elsewhere, play a game, etc... You have to stay on the download screen.

Resistance: Fall of Man is really fun. The rest of the launch games are crap.

That all comes down to the particular game, really. And with Resistance, it\'s phenomenal. :thumb: Getting your ID is pretty simple and the "keyboard" that you use to type with the controller is easy to use.

Some pics:

What pics do you guys want of the PS3? Or videos of the interface perhaps? Just let me know.

You can turn the PS3 on and off with the controller. You can have multiple accounts (as many as you want, as far as I can tell), each with their own user settings. There\'s a friend\'s list, a block list, add a friend, a message box where you can send and receive messages (and you can configure a keyboard to use on the PS3 as well), etc...

I don\'t really know what to ramble on about, so just ask.

Evi, doesn\'t it feel a bit tricky to load and unload the discs in vertical position ?
Or does the PS3 grab the disc quickly / firmly enough, that there\'s almost no chance of the disc slipping & subsequently falling down ?

Option 2. :thumb: There\'s no chance of it slipping (and if you\'re clumsy and end up dropping it, the coating on the discs will save you). The PS3 grips onto the disc and pulls it in firmly. Feels like a much better quality slot loader than some of the ones I\'ve tried. Plus there\'s no eject button, just a touch-sensitive area with the eject symbol there. Kind of cool. And I\'ve only used it in the vertical position. Whereas before when the PS2 was vertical and discs would constantly slip because you had to carefully place it into the tray, the PS3 eliminates any worry about that. It feeds right into the PS3. Also, like the PS2, that little PS logo by the disc feeder is turnable (for horizontal and vertical positions). The front cover also comes off (which might be used for future modding, I\'ve read).

Well as far as gaming goes, yes.

Waiting for 6 months or more for certain titles to arrive (MGS3? Final Fantasy?) plus having a higher price tag per title. Jawsome.

Thank god PS3 is region free. I will import most games from VGP, mostly due to lower prices and not wanting to support the Scandinavian distributor Nordisk Film.

I\'m afraid Sony has me by the ballz thanks to the exclusive titles on the system. One of them should be out by the EU launch, MotorStorm which I\'m very much looking forward to.

Even if I were into getting an Xbox I\'d probably hold off getting one anyway. I\'m a regular at another forum and the problems people are experiencing with broken Xboxes is just bind boggling.

Sony always fucks us in the ass, so I\'m used to it. I have no feeling left in that part of the body. ;)

If I weren’t so interested in HD movies (Blu-Ray) I would have imported a PS3 once they become available via VGP. I want to be able and buy BD titles locally.
