Yeppers. As Link, you can literally whip your wiimote to unsheath your sword and also kill baddies with a swipe of your remote. Just don\'t sit too close to your wife or GF, else you may knock her unconcious.
This game gets a 9/10 from me. Could have been higher....but since this console is supposedly 2x more powerful than an Xbox, I\'ll deduct .02 points for it having GameCube graphics. Yes, it was meant for the GC and delayed for the Wii. Yay! It\'s a straight port from GC.
But you know about Nintendo\'s mantra - it\'s the game play that matters. And it truly does! The controls are precise! Story line is....well...Zelda as usual: There are your townsfolk, chicken and fishing, night time critters, Epona, the Gorons, the faux native Americans and Zelda needing some rescuing.
I like the twist in the story where Link is....changed. I won\'t spoil the story for anyone but it is an added element to the game. "It" has its advantages and disadvantages and that\'s what I like about this one.
That\'s it for now. Two bosses vanquished so far! :D

great mini-review, has me psyched to try out zelda all over again.
one thing I\'d like though is for the characters to talk. It\'s 2006 and I heard they still make the same cheesy grunts and giggles :banghead:
-
See if you get tired of it. I\'ve completed a storyline milestone and am apparently about 1/3 of the way finished, and it\'s getting boring for me. Cool story line and cutscenes and stuff. But the gameplay feels pretty rinse and repeat.
This might be my last Zelda for a while. I need a break.

It\'s a little easier than Z:OoT. But that may be coz the controller makes it easier. Who knows? But it\'s a charming story and I\'m not really expecting much.
God of War has redefined (or re-calibrated) my sense of taste as far as adventure games go.
-
I wouldn\'t mind having characters speak in certain cutscenes, ala Grandia II.
Link should really never have dialogue, though.

He doesn\'t even have text in this game. The screen would just fade out and back after he finished.
-
Link has never had dialogue/text of any sort, Gman. I believe it should stay that way.
-
I\'ve only played one other Zelda game, OoT. Unlike OoT, Twilight Princess has Link "responding"....but when he\'s about to , the screen fades to black and back when he\'s finished his "line".
-
He responds in Wind Waker too. Still, no dialogue.
-
Last night, I beat the third boss.
This game is easy. It might be the wiimote making it easy, though.
-
The remote doesn\'t really change things much in this game, especially with the lock on aiming button.
The bosses are easy and the game is much more linear or obvious than, say, the original Zelda.
But I find the length of it gives it this kind of challenging, overwhelming feel.
There\'s a couple of collect-a-thon mini games that are kind of tacked on. These types of things annoy me ever since Donkey Kong 64 drove the concept into the ground. I wonder what you get for collecting everything...
-
Aiming the arrow at the 3rd boss was beyond easy. I think an analog stick would have been less forgiving.
-
I hated the "esccort the wagon" scene! Jeebus! That was hard!
-
Yeah I did too at first, but then I realized the main thing was killing those birds before they bombed it.

My Z target kept targeting the wrong target and not the birds! Pissed me off. And now I just found out that I missed a "wolf" point at the Zora place. Dammit! Gonna have to play this over.
-
You can just go back to the wolf point later.

i was never really into zelda,..and while i haven\'t played this, i did happen to browse the web a bit and catch a few of the screens,...and i know nintendo already stated that the wii is not a graphic powerhouse, but damn, i hardly see any difference graphically between gc and wii....i\'m glad that they went with the new or more realistic looking Link tho...
-
Yeah this game was a straight port of a GC game with added controller functions. So it literally looks exactly like a GC game.
Wii is capable of being better than GC, but you wouldn\'t really know it yet from the games out so far. I did notice the water in Wii Sports golf was pretty impressive, but with such an otherwise simple game, it probably could have been done on GC, too.
-
Wii has a 2x the graphical power of the Xbox....but that has yet to be seen. CoD3 is not exactly superior to even the PS2, much less the old Xbox.
-
Wii has a 2x the graphical power of the Xbox
False.
-
Yeah. Rumor has it it\'s more powerful. But I honestly doubt it. Maybe quicker with load times or more reliable with framerates or something. But better graphics overall? It\'s just hard to say that.
-
False.
Fine. Wii has only half the power of the Xbox and basically a repackaged Gamecube.
-
Speaking of Wii graphical specifications...it makes me curious too...how much more powerful is it compares to original Gamecube? Since Nintendo don\'t give a more detail specs, it does seems like it probably roughly the power of the original xbox? Or around there?
-
Nintendo I believe has put the system at 1.5 to 2 times as powerful as GCN, whatever that means. I don\'t follow specs. nor do I pretend to understand them.
But knowing Nintendo is always conservative with their statements (instead of pushing raw polygon numbers or other inane figures) and knowing that they were happy with the power of Gamecube as a technological limit for this system, I have no reason to doubt them.

Nintendo #1 in sales for november.....sales=king!....*ahem...waits for mm*....;)

They\'re having a great launch and DS continues to perform. But I\'m more interested to see how Sony\'s sales continue as PS3\'s become more available.
I\'m really not convinced yet that there is a demand for PS3 and with all the hype surrounding Wii word of mouth, I think it may diminish that PS3 hype even further.
My friend is an Xbox 360 owner, although he has weened himself on Metal Gear and Resident Evil over the years. After I brought Wii over to his house and we played 4 player tennis, he tells me that he thinks the system is just different. It\'s fun for parties and families and because it\'s cheap, he\'ll get one while using the Xbox 360 for the meaty games he enjoys.
He has not expressed an interest in the PS3.
He works with a lot of teenagers and tells me they are into Wii but haven\'t been able to get it. Apparently people are still lining up outside Walmart everytime a new shipment is due.
Another interesting thing is that now my parents are hooked on Wii Sports. My mom was always into gaming if it was the right type of game. Solitaire, Animal Crossing, Brain Age. She actually surprised me by getting hooked on Castlevania for DS. But my dad hasn\'t played a game since Asteroids and Duck Hunt. He looks forward to playing Wii Sports bowling or golf with my mom and me. Sometimes I have to kick them off the Wii so I can watch a movie!
My mom spent $20 on points for the virtual console, too. So I see that Nintendo is actually expanding its audience and because of it, they already made an extra $20. Very interesting, in my opinion. And I heard at work, Dad was telling a couple of his coworkers (see: aged 40s and 50s) about Wii and the ease of playing bowling.
I told him he was a fanboy. ;]

Wii has that one good game : Wii Sports.
Zelda is not for everyone. I can\'t see any other game within 3 months that I want. At least PS3 MIGHT have Motorstorm by March. MAYBE. At least it has Resistance for now and MAdden 07.
-
Wii Play has Wii Sports potential. And depending on your tastes there\'s Trauma Center and Elebits soon. And golf for my taste. And I hear Madden on Wii is the way to go right now, and that\'s out.
But for the good token shooters and adventures, the only stuff is first party stuff down the road. For now, anyway.
It\'s slim pickins, but there are possibilities. I hear Rayman has a mean multiplayer mode.

PS2 outsold all other consoles that month which they neglect to mention.

PS2 is still getting Gods of War 2. Gonna be king for a bit longer.
-
Nintendo DS - 918,000 (+155% from Oct 06) [ 8.1 million sold in the US ]
PlayStation 2 - 664,000 (+182%)
Game Boy Advance - 641,000 (+279%)
Microsoft XBOX 360 - 511,000 (+134%) [ 3.8 million sold in the US ]
Nintendo Wii - 476,000
PlayStation Portable - 411,900 (+219%)
PlayStation 3 - 197,000
Xbox 360 did surprisingly well as well. As did PS2. As did Game Boy Advance... and PSP.
-
If you think DS is doing well now, just wait until GBA becomes a non-factor.
-
After playing Zelda for roughly two months, I finally beat it. 20 hearts, 60 poes, 24 golden bugs, just about did everything possible (including the cave of ordeals).
You don\'t get games like this often enough. Nintendo might have tapered off last gen, but this gen they are certainly coming out of the gate strong. They by far have the best first party titles.
Well time to start playing Wario Ware... (and need to finish Monkey Ball as well).
-
wario ware lasts all of like 3 hours unfortunately but it is fun
-
How hard was this game? I\'m playing Wind Waker over march break and I\'m tearing through it like nothing.
-
It\'s harder than Wind Waker, which isn\'t saying much.
-
Yeah it\'s still easy.
Congrats to Hurricane for having the patience to find all that shit. Once I beat the main story, I was done. I\'ve been going game by game through my library of Wii titles, there\'s actually more out now that I\'d like to try than I can get to, so I\'m happy with the system. Super Paper Mario comes out this month I think, which should be the next AAA game.
