:(
That sucks.
-
guy was a great father. he went out putting his family first.
Sad to hear he\'s gone :(
-
I think anyone would have done the same. I think this is why so many people have been paying attention to this. I know I would have done the same if my wife and I were stranded.
-
I wasnt familiar with the incident but still its very sad to hear it
-
Aren;t you supposed to stay in your vehicle? Was he any where near somewhere he could get help? DId he really have a shot? I\'ve been a little busy the past month so I don\'t know much about it.
-
I didn\'t hear about this until now. Kinda sad. Guys got a lot of guts for doing what he did though. He put his family first and didn\'t even think about his own safety.
-
I feel sorry for his poor kids and wife though :(

They\'d been in the car for a few days when he made teh decision to seek help. His baby and daughter were starving. He promised his wife he\'d try to make it back the day he left to seek help. Then he never returned.
-
Really sad story. to actually freeze to death, and with the baby in below freezing temps...i would\'ve done thee exact same thing. Well i doubt i would\'ve wandered off from the main road, but given the situation he was in, i definitely would\'ve went out there for help....at least his wife and baby are alive, but i\'m sure she was devastated by the news of her husband being found deceased....:(
-
I haven\'t heard about it either, in fact if it\'s not russian spies getting poisoned, or english cricketers getting owned, we don\'t hear about it.
-
dude didn\'t have a cell phone huh?

They did, but they were out in the middle of no where in the mountains and did not have a signal to call for help. You don\'t think they tried that?

Funny how advanced we think we are, yet many times we can have a false sense of security when traveling, even in our own countries.
-
I think I\'m never going to go camping again without one of those expensive satellite phones that get reception anywhere.
-
He walked 16 miles looking for rescue after not eating for a week. Rescue workers said that was "super human". I suppose when your wife and two kids are back there stranded, you go beyond what you\'re normally capable of.
If you watch this trailer, you\'ll see that his highlight reels mentioned his kids quite a bit. His family was the most precious thing in his life. He\'s an electronic gadget freak like us.

I don\'t know the details, but of the mom and kids were rescued, shouldn\'t he just have stayed with them? I understand why he did what he did though.
-
Sammy, I\'m sure you would have left too if your family was in danger.

Hell no, I\'d kick those lazy bastards out of my car to look for some help, while I watch DVD\'s on the entertainment system.

As stated already, they ALL waited in the car for a few days with no rescue. Things got desperate and his children were now starving. So the father left the car to look for help.

Yeah, but still the ones who stayed in the car were in fact rescued... :fighting:

I forgot how stupid you are sometimes.

Lol... I\'m just pulling your leg Gman. Don\'t get your panties in a bunch. :)

I can\'t help it. The G string rode up so high up my crack, I forgot I had it on and pooped. I was wondering why i had several split logs in the toilet bowl.
On a more serious note.....the report now states that the road they got lost in was closed with a gate but vandals had broke it open and the family, lost as they were in the snow.....took that road.
-
Here\'s what happened 11 years ago...same road. And he stayed in the vehicle for 66 days. Died of starvation:

66 days in a car? Jeez, that\'s horrible. :(
-
well what i would\'ve done if i was stuck by myself,..why not just go back the way you came? i\'m sure they were at some point on a main road before they turned of into the road that was closed,..backtrack and eat snow on the way.....and maybe the cell phone would\'ve picked up some kind of signal.....of course this is all very easy to say after the fact, but i think i would\'ve just went back the way i came....i guess it all depends how far in they on that road as well...but that is what i would have done...

That\'s what he did. Still a mystery as to why he went off the road. Probably the hunger and hypothermia got his mind in a mess.
