We\'re as sober as the Pope. Watch and see how other Japanese publishers react. Mark our words here: Other publishers, other big-name Japanese publishers aside from Capcom (how we love thee, Capcom), will begin putting their once Sony exclusives on Xbox 360. And, in some cases, they\'ll put them on Xbox 360 first. Don\'t believe us? Watch for Namco and Konami in 2007. We\'re still not certain whether Metal Gear Solid 4 will hit Xbox 360, but if numbers (of units sold) do the talking, count on its arrival to Xbox 360 sometime after the PS3 version. What about Namco? We\'re sworn to secrecy, but the tide is changing here too. Prepare for some real Namco hardcore gaming love in 2007. Overall, Sony has reacted with alarm, anger, confusion, and is now realizing it must deal with this new situation: It isn\'t the console leader anymore. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Then there are Mistwalker\'s Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, two highly anticipated Japanese RPGS exclusive to the console. And, oh yes, did somebody say something about Resident Evil 5?

So I\'m thinking we\'ll see a new Castlevania on the 360. I have a feeling Metal Gear 4 will be on 360, but it will be a delayed release from the PS3 version. Silent Hill will probably go multiplatform, too. Thing is is that all those franchises have been on the Xbox before so I\'m not sure what Sony exclusives he\'s talking about.
As for Namco, the next Soul Calibur going multiplatform is a no brainer. I suspect we might see a Tales of ... game for the 360 and PS3. I also wouldn\'t be surprised for Tekken to go 360 and PS3 as well.

I ll wait for more sources until that is clairified 100%

Depends on numbers, of course, but the PS3 is passed .5 million now, and I would imagine it will continue to sell right off the shelves until around 3 million units. The 360 is going to all but halt after Christmas, and the Wii is almost at 2 million, and will slow around 2.5. By April next year, my prediction is 9.5 million 360s, 3.5 million PS3s, and 4 million Wiis sold.
I have a feeling that by the end of 2007 the PS3 will be back on top or close to it.

360 will halt? 2007 has a rockstar line up of games; Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Too Human, Crackdown, Halo 3, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto IV, Virtua Fighter 5, Forza 2, Blue Dragon, Trusty Bell, and many more. Not to mention there\'s a great probability of a price drop in Q2. I predict 12-13 million by the end of April.
I don\'t predict Wii slowing down at all. Nintendo will have about 6 million sold by the end of April.
PS3 is unknown. I very much doubt it will be on top at the end of 2007. I don\'t think that\'s possible given production capacity, and I doubt consumers\' willingness to spend so much after the initial launch phase. We\'ll see though.

Its going to be a fun year. I always to prefer predicting something unlikely and very specific, so that if it happens to come true, I feel extra smart. I\'ll never be like Notradamus or anything though, thanks to that.
I think 13 million 360s is generous, but we\'ll see. They\'ve sold 9 million in a year and a bit, including two Christmas seasons but anything is possible - their deals certainly make it a tempting choice.
-
I\'ll buy a 360 when Halo 3 and/or GTA 4 come out. PS3 when Tekken 6/GoW 3 come out.
\'07 is a great year for PC too
-
It\'s strange, but I feel that Wii will slow down. For a time, anyway.
There will be a drought or two. You wait and see.

360 wont be alone anymore and PS3 and Wii will be gettimg good games as well
Oh and also production issues are being solved. They are supplying now

I know they are in production now, but it\'s not like they can make as many as they want. That\'s why I said it comes down to production capacity.

It wont be a problem forever. I think until March they\'ll be having enough to gain a satisfactory userbase....if people will be interested enough to get them that is ;)

oh my god, you\'re so not reading what I\'m writing. I\'m saying that Sony can\'t just make a bajillion PS3\'s. There was an article some time back that said it was impossible for the PS3 to top the 360 in 2007 simply due to production capacity limitations. In other words, they won\'t be able to make enough PS3\'s in time to overtake the 360 by the end of 2007.
-
They\'re talking about producing some 600k consoles in December alone, over the next twelve months, without increasing the rate further they could make a total of about 8.2 million PS3s (including 2006), which would be behind the 360s sales regardless of future performance. That said, with production ramping up, I\'m sure they\'re going to aim to produce 10-15 million total by the end of 2007, and while I doubt they\'ll pass the 360 in 2007, by next Christmas the race will be very close. When I say they\'ll be back on top, I think it\'s that by the end of 2007 the PS3 is what most people will be buying, rather than a Wii or 360, the PS3 is going to have all the momentum.

No actually YOU dont get ME. PS3 doesnt need to sell a bazilion to keep its support and no I didnt imply it will reach 360\'s sales in one year either

That remains to be seen. It\'s quite clear they\'ve lost some brand power.

Hopefully, in time consoles will be like DVD players. Every DVD player can play every DVD movie, but the choice of which DVD player you want to play the DVDs with is your\'s.
One DVD playermay have better sound, one better resolution, one may have this feature etc and all this will go into making your decision on which one to buy
May this be the case with consoles sooner rather then later
-
whether sony match their production goals or not, i think price is still going to be a factor. they are still making a pretty nice profit from ps2 units being sold currently, so hopefully when it comes time for a price drop, it will be a significant one.

I guess you can say PC are kind of like that. But the problems even to this day is, if you have top of the line PC today, in one or 2 years, it will not be top of the line anymore, sure you maybe able to play new games on it. But chances are you might need to upgrade to newer pc in order to get the best performance out of the newest games like smooth frame rate and other effects.
And of course, if you pc is so old, say like 5 years or much older, chances are the this old pc can\'t handle new games graphical performance...hence, you can\'t play it at all. So you have to upgrade to new pc in order to play too...
But seriously, who knows if in the future if videogame consoles will come in many different selections and different brand and models where you can play any type of game on any different consoles you want...I doubt this will be the case in 10 years from now. In order to get the best performance out of the videogames, one need to upgrade pc if it\'s way too old to handle the graphic.
the difference between pc and consoles is consoles usually lasted as long as 5 or more years, so we don\'t have to upgrade every 1 or 2 years in order to keep up with the graphical performance since the games will be created on the same machine architecture.

I know 2 titles in that bunch. All the rest I\'ve never heard. "The blockbuster" list of 2007 is more "the game I\'m looking forward to".
IMO, currently game developers simply want to make games on a console where there is enough user base to make some profit, aka x360. Microsoft really made a good move by releasing the x360 a year ahead of Sony.
The only 2 things that can save Sony is if the Blu-ray become the "next HD format" and if they their Live service can somehow match Microsoft\'s one.
Anyway, I\'ll do like many others and buy both.

Okay, it probably holds more weight when the developer behind each is mentioned...
Capcom, Bioware, Silicon Knights, Realtime Worlds (original creator of Grand Theft Auto), Bungie, Irrational Games (bioshock will roxor), Mistwalker (original creator of Final Fantasy), Tri-Crescendo (Star Ocean)...I\'ll just say you\'ll know what they are by the time they\'re released.

By the time the number of PS3 owners begin to rise, the 95% of the Dev\'ers will have been cross platformed. Deals will be struck in \'07 to get exclusives for \'08. Sony is pissed and embarrassed. They have to spend even more cash to get cash later.
And...it looks like Blu-Ray is getting more press than the HD-DVD.

From what I understood in my country and probably in other European countries, people bought 360\'s either as a PS3 substitute to keep them busy until PS3 is released or because they couldnt wait for a PS3.
Wii is the same. Since its cheap they bought it despite that they are planning for a PS3 and others arent interested at all. Actually Wii interest is minimum.
I ve heard that it did great in Europe though and sold more than 350,000 in 2 days. In which territories was that I wonder though.
In my place a store is selling PS3\'s at 765 Cyprus pounds and some people are crazy enough to pay as much despite that in march it will cost half the price!!
360 sales are slowing down as people are waiting for the PS3. And to tell hte truth people dont seem to bother with the price difference as much.
-
Sony\'s PS3 is up to .82 million units sold now, and even with some amazing deals on the 360 they are sitting in stores (yesterday they had a core 360 with three games for 399 CDN). No PS3s to be easily found in my neck of the woods though.
-
What did you expect. Sony hold of the console market is slowly unfolding. Things were bound to get more even with the consoles. This always happens with consoles.
The ps3 is becoming more and more available. There are just no games worth buying the system for right now. So the best choice has to be a wii or 360.
The 360 has some goods games on it now im thinking of picking one up.
-
Actually people might not be getting Wii or 360 because they are expecting PS3 to get its good share of games soon.
So for those interested on PS3,a 360 or Wii still arent the best choice for them due to future expectations. Especially Wii which doesnt have anything special either. I d choose PS3\'s current line up over Wii\'s current line up anytime
-
Wii\'s best game is what came with it: Wii Sports. There is nothing currently that is that good. Zelda is disappointing.
Also, despite all the deals for the 360 here, there are tons of them sitting on the floor waiting to be bought. PS3\'s are still relatively rare but they are coming in daily.

In the end people will get what they want no matter what. My interest in games has been low thats why I don\'t play as much anymore. But 360 does have some games I would like to play. So I am thinking of getting one. As far as ps3 or wii. Not interested in wii at all. And ps3 is way to high and there is not a game for it I want to play.
