sweet deal if you don\'t mind working around christmas.  360 keeps looking more and more tempting as time goes on.  I have a feeling I\'ll be owning one in the next 3 months or so.

While your at it, looking for a VGA cable, you\'ll get Gears of War too, right ?

I\'ve been contemplating getting a 360 for a good while now.. I got the cash to get one now.. If I saw a sweet deal for one I\'d probably pull the trigger.

Sony better drop the price tag before I\'ll even consider their machine

I just received an email from Microsoft indicating that my XBox 360 warranty has been extended to one year.  I think it was three months originally.  However, I\'ve had my 360 for about 8 months and haven\'t encountered any problems.

Probably. I\'ve been a big advocate of Xbox Live, for example, but most of my exposure is limited to typically level-headed, enjoyable experiences with games like Texas Hold \'Em and before that, Tetris Worlds.

There are a lot of young clowns mucking up a lot of the more popular titles. I guess that spills over online.

Cannot for the life of me tolerate the console community which is in essence a dumb down version of the pc counterpart. Don\'t get me wrong, it\'s perfect for the average tech illiterate ub3r noob, but annoying as hell for the experience long time pc user. 360 or any console for that matter is targeted towards the mainstream, so in that regard Xbox live is GOOD.

Quite Franky I use for 360 for single player or with a group of friends.

That about sums up my thoughts exactly on the xbox live community. As far as games in the future tho for single player, Bio Shock is looking real nice :D

yerrrp. If your able to put together a good system and play games on PC, for the most part, you are not a gay ass mother fucker..to put it lightly. I\'d run into one douche per like 20 people on raven shield. But with the console community i run into one non-douche per 20 douches.

I\'m partly glad that im more into the $400 console from a practical view for right now, but i really miss playing with the group of guys that iv been playing PC games with for 5ish years. But the main guy is off doing whatever and when he isnt around none of us really play so i cant get into PC games right now. I played a bit of BF2 just now and loved it for an hour er so but then it got boring playing alone.

Well, I\'m sure there are less morons on the PC side, but that doesn\'t mean that it\'s unlikely to run into morons. I mean, there\'s always a bunch of idiots TK\'ing and writing stupid things because they got shot or whatever.

my interest in the 360 has been so up & down lately....*shadapp titan!*....but now i\'m interested in of course,.. gears of war, lost planet & bullet witch...i\'m still kinda holdin\' out for the ps3, but i hope capcom makes lost planet for it. I\'m not sure who makes bullet witch, but i hope that comes over to ps3 as well. If  they continually continue to get some really great games tho, i might consider it, as the only thing that\'s ever really stopped me from buyin\' one was the controllers.
Title: finally decided to get a 360

Title: finally decided to get a 360

The 360 has the best controller of all the current systems, preferences about motion sensitivity aside.
Title: finally decided to get a 360
Post by: Blade on January 08, 2007, 06:11:25 AM
I agree. It\'s the best traditional controller ever.

The only one that challenges it is the GameCube controller, and that\'s purely ergonomically. IMO, the X360 pad is probably better.
Title: finally decided to get a 360
Post by: Eiksirf on January 08, 2007, 08:01:57 AM
Not the same league, in my opinion. Not a fan of the GC pad at all.
Title: finally decided to get a 360
Post by: Blade on January 08, 2007, 10:54:41 AM
The GCN pad feels really natural in my hands.

Button placement is fairly weak, the D-Pad sucks, but the ergonomics are phenomenal for me. Depends on your hands.

The X360 controller is definitely more well-rounded.

Post by: dawid22 on January 30, 2007, 02:47:33 AM
Blade, I agree with you. I think the GameCube controller is one of the best fitting in your hand, but the 360 has taken it a step further I believe.  The PS3 controller is obviously nothing new, but it has been comfortable since the beginning.  It\'s better than that boomerang though!

Title: finally decided to get a 360
Post by: Eiksirf on January 31, 2007, 11:16:02 AM
Yes, they are.

I got bored with Condemned, although I did enjoy the first few levels for sure. Very moody.

Boz - I don\'t buy a lot of $50 games, either. I only pick up a lot of games at launch, and then later on if I really think I\'ll get my money\'s worth. I don\'t play enough to be throwing away all that cash, personally.

In the case of Guitar Hero, I\'ll spend more because it\'s worth it to me.  Haven\'t been able to talk myself into GH2, though, since it hasn\'t changed much.

thats true.

Rainbow six is fun. Marvel ultimate alliance is fun if you liked x-men legends (if not you\'ll hate it).

that\'s pretty much about it for you. I have nba 2k7, madden 07, and burnout too and like those games but i dont imagine you liking...anything...ever

Splinter Cell single player was definitly worth a rent..i hate SC multiplayer

they do price drop relatively quickly with 360 games though which is nice.

It\'s all good, you just made it sound like 60 was so much worse than 50 and that it was the 360\'s fault.  But you saying you don\'t buy many 50$ games then I can understand completely.

As for Condemned, I guess to each their own.

Yeah but you also got a controller for 20 bucks, when it retails for 30. Get Guitar Hero 2. It has a better selection of music, the game is more refined (hammer-ons and pull-offs are a lot easier), looks better and the songs are a lot more fun.

I didn\'t know which thread to put this in, so I just picked this one.

I have a new complaint about the XBox 360:  I was thinking about picking up the wireless network adapter for the 360, so I stopped by to check them out at a Fry\'s over the weekend.

That stupid peripheral was priced at $99.95!!!!!  WTF????  I was thinking it would probably be about $40 - $50, since the PC equivalent is usually around $30 - $40.  No way did I expect it to cost more than double what I expected.  Needless to say, I didn\'t buy it.  To save $100, I can live with the ethernet cable in my hallway.

only reason i want 120gb is because i hate only seeing 7GB\'s on my harddrive available. Makes me feel clostrophobic, lol.

/signed for truth.

It\'s pathetic really. Everyone wants to jump in and go, "well, mine is collecting dust". That\'s fine - but it doesn\'t mean anything, other than you are not playing yours.  Guess what? Mine isn\'t collecting dust, as I am still in love with Guitar Hero 2.  Does that matter? About as much as the fact you chimed in that your\'s is collecting dust...Not at all.

And as for Titan\'s comment and Unicorn\'s, well, people want something to bitch about. I\'m sure some of those people buy one. I don\'t own a PS3, I will eventually, once I see a reason to buy one. It\'s the same reason I didn\'t buy a 360 on launch or Wii at launch. I need more than one game to convince me to throw my hard earned money down. Until then, I\'ll just enjoy what I do own and wait for the other systems to come around.

No. You strike me as someone who just wants something to complain about. I mean, it\'s almost abusrd to say the 360 is gathering dust, but your PS3 is played in a constant manner, simply due to the lack of PS3 games. However, if that is the case, and you do love your PS3 that much, that\'s fine. I was just pointing out that people always want to chime in and take cheap shorts at any given console, when in reality, there is no reason. Play what you like and quit trying to complain or compare.

Good thing I didn\'t say I was offended.

:)

I simply pointed out that I find it absurd to think a 360 can be gathering dust as opposed to a PS3 at this point in each consoles life. If for no other reason, than the simple fact the PS3 has not had enough time to amass a decent library of games.

I see your point. I mean, as I\'ve grown up, I completely dropped the fanboy mentality. I still like to poke fun at Microsoft every once in a while but in reality, all the consoles have their strong and weak points. I know of some games on 360 that I want but the games that I really want, like Metal Gear and GranTurismo are on the Playstation line. There isn\'t enough on PS3 right now for me to buy it plus time is a big factor. This summer, I expected to play guitar for at least an hour a day. That didn\'t happen. Life happened and I still haven\'t even had time to myself. Now summer is almost over for me and I still have had a grand total of 7 days to myself. I played GTA: San Andreas but stopped because I didn\'t have the time between work and friends and working out. Hopefully when I go back to school, I will have more time, money and friends to play video games with which will be some incentive to buy a PS3 or Wii. My roommate has a 360 so I can just use his until I graduate.

meh i think it\'s ok to have some type of loyalty,..i mean as long as your\'re not crazy with it, i mean i think we all have brand loyalty to some extent, i admit i prefer sony when it comes to consoles because i\'ve experienced a great gaming experience with them since the psx, but i also appreciate what ms and nintendo brings to the table to keep sony honest...

Loyalty is never more seen than in sports, and i know everybody in here has a team that they love and that they will stand by no-matter if they\'re havin\' a s**tty year or a fantastic year...just like how i know that you ALL know that dallas is the greatest football team around...:fro:....the list goes on and on...some people prefer to drive only a certain brand of vehicles,...my pops? he will only drive ford trucks and lincoln towncars, why? cause he\'s had a good experience with them....

So it\'s ok to have a little loyalty when it comes to consoles as well, cause sayin\' that sony or ms don\'t care about what we think(they just want your money) the same can be said of car dealerships and everything else that we seem to have a certain brand loyalty for.. and sports? trust... those cats that play sports that are gettin\' paid millions could care less about whether we\'re cheerin\' for them or not....they can leave the league and still be set for years to come...

My point? it\'s ok to have a little loyalty to anything or brand that you have had a great experience with, it\'s only natural,..just as long as you don\'t get crazy with it...

Loyalty to anything is dumb let alone a video game system. Please people times have change there is enough content for you to enjoy just about all three systems if you want to.

Loyalty to "anything" is dumb? What qualifies as "anything"?

wow clips thats one of the best posts I\'ve seen around here in some time

There is nothing wrong with being \'loyal\' to a console,  although I think loyal is probably not the right word and sounds kind of crazy.

with the ps1 and ps2 I got  6 years of quality gaming.  There is constantly being new games/series being added to the software for the past decade so no reason not to stay \'loyal\' and purchase a ps3

Nintendo lost my \'loyalty\' with the 64.  They released just one TRUE mario game on the system and proceeded to make thousands of mario spinoffs instead of a new series.  Same holds true for the GC and its looking the same for the Wii.  I refuse to buy a system just to play Zelda, SSB, Mario in space,  and minigames.

I have no reason to be loyal to MS,  they abandoned the Xbox 1 and the  360 is poorly made.   they charge for online,  overcharge for add-ons and their top 2 games can be played on the PC. Thier only good is that they\'re competition.  There wouldn\'t be HOME on PS3 etc if it wasn\'t for LIV

you have selective hearing clowd. you\'ve gone to the point of insanity with it, which he alluded too. and for that, i poop on thee

seeing as iv had problems with the consoles running with both companies, i have no loyalties. I go out of my way to make sure that they dont break down, and they do. my friend has his launch 360 in this little cave, with little ventilation, and his doesnt break down, while mine just broke down. and i went through 3 ps3\'s (the last being refurbished, but still).

But i do agree there are some natural loyalties. Right now, im just defending the 360 because of the spew of bullshit going on. i guarantee if this were a 360 board and people were talking mindless bullshit about the ps3, id defend that just because i hate blind loyalty. (emphasis on the word blind)

How did they abandon the Xbox? It had a nice lifespan and they moved on. Exactly what is wrong with that?

Charge for online? Well, yeah, compared to what is offered by Sony I can see why they charge. The Live experience is a big part of the 360\'s North America success. There is no reason you shouldn\'t be able to afford a Live subscription, that is, unless you\'re a "minum wage bum".

:D

All jokes aside, not sure why you\'re dead set that MS is some evil corporation that has done nothing right. Yes, their hardware is shit, there is no defending that. But the games for the 360 and Live experience have been top notch so far.

4 years and losing billions of dollars is not a nice lifespan.

the 360 was utterly rushed and i\'ll be shocked if it lasts longer than 4 years

Except for the fact I don\'t care how much any given company makes or loses, as long as when that console was around, it had games I enjoyed and the Xbox did have that.

/shrugs

I have loyalty to sony in the console market and always will but I have a respect for MS and Nintendo as well and won\'t mind shelling out money to either. You can have loyalty to one company and still experience others.

I see the irony but it does have a point. I\'m going to use an example of film since that is what my job is about. I\'m a big Fuji film person. I work with Fuji machines, I have the best luck with Fuji film and I love their disposable cameras. I\'m a loyalist to Fuji. However, every so often I like to cross over to Kodak to try their film. And hey, I found they have good products too. I don\'t like them as much as Fuji but they still have a great product that I like to use as well. However, I still have brand loyalty. See my point? It gets a bit deeper. I don\'t like their digital cameras. I\'ve only used a couple before but I don\'t like them as much as Canon. I\'m a big Canon loyalist in the digital market.

I can transfer this point over to the console market. I\'ve always bought Sony. I\'ve had an NES growing up but strayed. I\'ve been very loyal to Sony as my past has demonstrated. However, I still like to play Nintendo games, Xbox games and really enjoy them to the extent of buying and enjoying the console. However, my loyalty in my heart is always Sony...until they piss me off.
