Title: W.O.W. The Burning Crusade
Post by: Luke on January 15, 2007, 04:06:53 PM
I purposely stopped playing Warcraft for the past 5 months because  knew as soon as the expansion came out I was just going to play a new character.

The changes they have made in the past 5 months, and now with the expansion coming out tomorrow, look awesome.

I can\'t wait.

Anyone else still play world of warcraft and getting the expansion tomorrow?

Good times here. I\'ve had my Warlock at about 70 for awhile now :P Flying around the outland is freaking spectacular I might add.

I am now playing a Blood Elf Warlock. He\'s at 40 right now.

Warlocks are great!

I played a Paladin to 60.....

You guys should try playing real D&D. No computer graphics can surpass the human imagination. :)

Dreanor.

But only cause that\'s where my friends play.

I hate PvE servers.

Of course I expected that.  I just find it funny that people are talking about playing a Blood Elf Warlock or a Paladin on WoW and that\'s not nerdy, but one mention of D&D, and that makes me nerdy.

Everything I hear about WoW makes it sound like "D&D Lite."

Describing it as \'D&D lite\' is exactly saying it\'s less nerdy or \'nerd lite\'.  It\'s a video game... it\'s interactive with you on a much higher level.  Something also had to be said with your "No computer graphics can surpass the human imagination" line.

No rolling dice and memorizing tables, slowly on paper.

Not that theres anything that\'s wrong with being a nerd... I love D&D, probably still have my elf ranger sheets with my old players handbook and guides over in a box somewhere in my parents basement.

^ there we go, a nerd who\'s not in denial.  i\'m a nerd too.  not at the D&D level but i collect comics and old video game systems.  and i have not nor will ever caress a woman/man/dog.  turtle is a diff story

I never said I wasn\'t a nerd.  I\'m just saying people who play fantasy computer games are not less nerdy than me.  :)

BTW, I agree that having a computer handle the math is a nice improvement.  However, playing in person with live humans at a table is better than playing online.  I don\'t understand "interactive with you on a much higher level."  How could it be?

You\'ve been in a \'battle\' in an online game like WoW and been in a battle while playing with pen and paper.  Automatic games are much faster paced, and therefore much more intense (you have to work pretty hard to keep up in some instances), that\'s what I meant.

With advanced strategies in games like WoW (and even FPS) virtually necessitating large groups (often clans/friends) playing with teamspeak, it\'s just as personal as it used to be with a couple friends over a table.

It\'s a strange coincidence that a friend sent me this diagram of Geek heirarchy at just the right time:

I play. I like it.
I have a level 34 Warlock, named Zorth. He plays on PVE servers.

My warlock is lvl 70. Currently, I\'m in the largest guild on the Elune Server. We have broken ourselves into 4 groups running Karazan throughout the week. Our group has cleared Kara in its entirety, and have been working on Gruul. So far we\'ve taken one good whack at him.

Other than that I have a 52 warrior, 34 shaman and some other lowbies.

Not sure if I will ever get sick of this game :P

Does anyone know if you collect rested XP if your account is canceled? When my PC died, I canceled my account (laptop won\'t run it ). It\'d be awesome if when I get it back up and running (around two weeks), if I had over a month\'s rested XP to use.

They keep track of your account, so everything would be in tact. Unfortunately though, rested XP will only got as high as 1.5 lvl\'s worth.

Wrath of the Lich King was announced at Blizzcon...Any thoughts?

I am excited for a few features (mainly the more custom-character stuff), but also disappointed that a new expansion is already announced and most people have not even truly completed TBC content

The Lich King Expansion isnt due until may of next year. I wouldn\'t be too disappointed.
