So I came into $200 in credit at EB Games by selling a bunch of unnecessary crap from my game rack.
Now I own the X360, Wii, and a single DS Lite. Plus a moderately powerful PC, probably considered low-mid range.
I could save the credit for a later date, or go for something now... and I\'ve been cautiously... leaning towards a PS2. I never owned the PS1, and I can name a good 10-20 titles off the top of my head for the PS2 that I\'ve wanted to play.
It\'s a step back, though. A dying system, but with a shitload of cheap and awesome games... double-edged sword...
I\'ve also considered the HD-DVD add-on for X360, but then I ask myself... why? I have an HDTV but am I in a hurry to watch HD content on it? At 720p?
Or I could put some dough towards Lost Planet and other desirable X360/Wii/DS titles...
Any thoughts?

Wait a little more
-
don\'t buy the HD-dvd, i regret getting mine.
just get a PS3.
it will play 99% of any ps2/ps1 game you\'d wanna play
-
that\'s tough. Personally, I\'d hold off and use it on games if you dont already have a good amount of them (seeing as most people hold off on buying $60 games).
Play the lost planet demos before buying that game. I played the MP demo and hated it, so i plan on renting it one day and just beating the SP, which i heard was fun but short.

I would have ebayed that shiz :D
If I was forced to choose I\'d go with the PS3. Plays br out of the box and has some great games coming out this month and next
-
eBay?
I frankly didn\'t want to deal with the hassle, and EB was giving me $20 extra for the PSP, $20 extra for the DS, and I moved Zelda (Wii) back to them for an outstanding $42.50. Essentially I "rented" Zelda for 3 full months, beat the shit out of it, and all for $10. :)
-
This is why I don\'t sell my games. I can\'t deal with credit :)
-
I decided to go with a PS2, ICO, 8MB memory card, and a copy of Splinter Cell: Double Agent for the Xbox 360. Covered the $200.
-
go pick up shadow of the colossus also.
-
After I complete ICO. :) If I enjoy it.

I love the Ps3 blu-ray capability... I own like 50 movie now.
-
OMG are you serious?????????
You payed for 50 expensive Blu-ray films. From what I have seen in the blu-ray and HD-dvd library is horrid. Most are popcorn mainstream/current lifeless hollywood movies. Don\'t even get me started on the RoboCOP blu-ray release which was literally a nightmare in the transfer department. I don\'t understand why they even bother to release movies in HD if they aren\'t going to invest in the quality of the transfer and codec used. the blue ray movie looks worse than the DVD.
I would love to see my favourite movies in HD, sadly it\'s going to be quite some time before any of them see the light of day in HD. It makes sense for the studio to financially and for it\'s marketability, release both current popular junk hollywood movies along with major hollywood classics.

what movie would you buy on blu-ray?
-
Here is my list: (keep in mind I would only purchased the listed movies below if the HD transfer and codec is good)
Full metal jacket
Reservoir Dogs
Good fellas
Memento
Swordfish(chessy film, but I like travolta in it)
None of the terminator films, since they have shitty shitty transfers, wait till revision 2)
Also I just realised that they stoped production of the ROBOCOP Blu-ray release. I assume they are going to give that "Verhoeven" masterpeice the proper transfer that it deserves.
