whoa, clips you can get any sleep either?  Nice set for the price.  55" is a great size that will keep you happy for a long time.

If your HD cable box has an HDMI output head to monoprice.com and snag an HDMI cable on the cheap.

congrats on the hdtv :nerd:

well, that certainly explains why no 1080P.

as for cables, what are you connecting to it?
your HD cable box does component, you won\'t notice much of a difference using HDMI

^^^i\'m assuming i would be connecting it to the cable box?...not sure...all i\'m trying to do is just to get that clear picture that i seen at the store itself...now that i think about it, aren\'t most of those tv\'s in stores playing dvd\'s to show picture quality? point is that when i\'m watching cable, i want to be able to get that crystal clear quality that i seen in the store. will that be possible with the hdmi cables? i say that only because in other threads i always hear talk of s-video cables, monster cables and all other kinds of tech stuff that i\'m not really familiar with, but i\'m assuming that those cables will improve quality...i\'m probably wrong in assuming that tho...

forget s-video and monster cables.

if your cable box has an hdmi port,
go to wal-mart and get the cheapest one you can find.
otherwise, use component.

Very true when I first got my HD set I was all up in roar. Did Not know shit about cables. Paid $80 for HMDI cables at best buy and saw no real difference. After you guys told how I could get a hdmi cable for $15 I took the shit right back Best Buy

DVD players won\'t do hdtv picture justice because hdtv is much more detailed than dvd video can deliver.

One way to show off the picture quality of hdtv is connect to a blu ray or hd-dvd player.  Since PlayStation 3 can playback blu ray movies, if you own a ps3 or going to get one later on, you will see the clarity that blu ray movies will deliver on hdtv.  when you compare blu ray to dvd picture detail, you will notice just how soft dvd is.

Either playstation 3 or xbox360 games are in high def, hooking them up to an hdtv should show you the picture detail that you wouldn\'t be able to make out on a standard tv.

You can hook up either internal or external antenna to your hdtv via the RFU coaxial connection (the digital one that is), and you watch ATSC over the air broadcast for free.  and some channels are in high def.

Or if you have a high definition cable box that have HDMI or component video connection, you can watch digital picture and some are in high def too...

it\'s not that bad....:(...trust...i wanted to get one of those plasma joints, :) but the kind i wanted were just too much for me to put down,...*2800 & up*  there was a plasma set at best buy goin\' for like 6200.00... a really sweet set, i think it might\'ve been like 50 somethin. inches,...but like i stated earlier, the quality of my tv that was seen in the store was crystal clear quality. unlike most projection sets were you can actually tell it\'s a projection set.

Haha, I like how every time someone buys something, they have to defend themselves and their choice. Silly rabbits.

plasma, LCD, DLP, and CRT all have their ups and downs.

my old 36" sony CRT owned everything out there in picture quality, but alas, i wanted something bigger.

Compare an SXRD to any LCD and I think RP-naysayers will start changing their minds.  10k:1 CR + 1080p at ~$2000 is a steal

SRXD LCOS TV\'s are IMHO the best looking sets period. After that I would go with a Panasonic Plasma.

People who put big boxes for tvs out in the trash should get burgled.  They deserve it.
