I\'ll still never understand how they can get the best in the entertainment world in one room together for almost 4 hours and have one of the most boring shows on the planet.
Anyways here are the big winners
Performance by an actor in a leading role - Forest Whitaker in “The Last King of Scotland”
Performance by an actor in a supporting role - Alan Arkin in “Little Miss Sunshine”
Performance by an actress in a leading role - Helen Mirren in “The Queen”
Performance by an actress in a supporting role - Jennifer Hudson in “Dreamgirls”
Achievement in directing - Martin Scorsese "The Departed"
Best motion picture of the year - “The Departed”
----------------------------------------------------
Was particularly happy to see Scorsese finally win, after so long. Even tho if he was to be given an oscar, it shouldn\'t of been for "The Departed". But I was happy none the less to see him awarded a trophy. Thats not saying I didn\'t enjoy "The Departed" because I really liked it. But compared to what he has been nominated for in the past it just doesn\'t stack up to his previous accomplishments.
Anyways, for those who watched it (or stayed awake for it) what did you think?

Makes me wonder if "Infernal Affairs" ever got nominated for something by the Academy Awards.
-
i was thinking the same thing about iffernal affairs
-
I didn\'t watch this year... It\'s in the middle of the night on a bloddy Sunday, argh. Oh well, it wasn\'t too hot last year.
I\'m also happy that Scorsese got an Oscar, but The Departed wasn\'t that great. It was good, but he\'s done better.
-
I didn\'t watch it every year.
-
children of men shouldve gotten more recognition.
First time in a long ass time i actually watched an award show (just the end/important ones)
-
I do agree Children of Men should have gotten more recognition. I really enjoyed it.

All of my predictions in the major categories came true except for Best Picture. To me "The Departed" was not a Best Picture because it did not carry any far reaching themes or reveal any great truths. To me "Gangs of New York" was more of a Best Picture than "The Departed"
Oh well, at least it was a great film even if it shouldn\'t have been Best Picture. At least it wasn\'t a "Gladiator" or "Titanic" or "Forrest Gump."

The Oscars have been for quite some time extremely political, therefore it\'s hard to take this award show seriously. Scorsese should have received something for Ragging bull or good-fellas, hell even casino. Everyone knows the Oscars have snub him for many years. The Departed is a fine film, very enjoyable, but not even near the same caliber as TAXI Driver, Ragging Bull, GoodFellas and Casino. So then you must ask why does his best films get ignored, yet one of his above average films receive 4 Oscars.

It\'s about the year.
-
The Departed had the best acting in a movie this year so he definitely deserved the director Oscar.
And I thought it deserved best picture. Whats not to love about it...
-
Shitty for Peter O\'toole losing for the eighth time aswell, and he\'s already 74 :P
I also would of loved to see Pan\'s Labyrinth win Best Foreign Language film. But seeing as I have not seen The Lives of Others yet, which is the movie that did win it. I can\'t really say it wasn\'t deserved.
-
Was kind of hoping Little Miss Sunshine would take the best picture.
It\'s obvious why The Departed won.

O\'Toole didn\'t win because the character he played was an old lech.
Jackie Earl Haley didn\'t win because the character he played was a pedophile.
Academy members are too conservative to vote for those kinds of performances.

Its so sad that a remake of an old great Asian movie gets the Oscar.
Was Babel btw included in the nominees?
I believe that movie deserved Oscar more than anything. Even the title is a work of art considering its hiding a message that fits perfectly with the movie\'s theme.

Boring

Bleh, LMS sucked donkey balls. Nah that\'s too harsh, but I don\'t see why it should be in the best picture category.

It won for best score I believe but lost everything else. I personally disliked Babel and can\'t understand why it got so much recognition.
