Just wanted to tell U all.
YIPPI!!!!!

DSL? Cable? Satalite?
I have T1 speed at work, so when I went home to my 56k I nearly puked every time.
Now I have DSL, and it rocks:)
-
Broadband is only getting better. I can\'t remember the last time @home was down and wouldn\'t let me connect. The reliability is certainly top-notch (depending where you are, who\'s your provider).
I really hope dial-up dies within the next 5 years...

Have you guys heard of Internet II? It is in use by some research facilities, some Schools, and Military research facilities. This thing is incredible. They are getting 2-3 gigs per second on regular phone lines.

Hey! Welcome to the club! I have a cable modem. ;)
-

-
How much does broadband cost?
-
I have DSL.. yes, it rocks ;)
It\'s fast enough..
-
My DSL costs----> $19.95 Month
My IP (Blackhole.com) cost-----> $19.95 Month, for a DSL connection.
So, about $40 a month total.
-
I have Cable Modem.
I\'m with Telstra bigpond advance.
It costs me $83 AUS a month. Thats for 4 different ips. 2 users. Me and my brother. We get 2 ips each.
Nothing like broadband. When i can get the Broadband connector for DC.. Look out world. :D
-
I will be getting the cable. After the first of the year it will be available in my area.I hear its much better hope so.
-
Soul- why are you paying for more than 1 ip address? Why not get an Internet connection sharing proggie, or even just use the one that comes with Windows?
I currently have 2 PCs hooked up to @home for $40/mo. It will be 3 PCs when I bring my computer from college back home for the holidays...
-
I have Roadrunner cable, I just can\'t imagine ever going back to 56k.
-
Yeah, I second that. I also have broadband and it really is way better than dial-up! I don\'t know what I should do if had to return to dial-up... *brrrr* :D
-
/me looks at my 56k modem and frowns :(
-
I finally fixed my cable modem and now I\'m back in full speed;) Can\'t wait till the PS2 goes online...woo hoo:D
-

Gezz, This is one OLD THREAD. I\'ll answer the question..
Simply put. I can\'t Telstra monitor the ips that go through the Modem.. If there are any ips that arn\'t my own. I lose teh account. When i was with Alpahlink (The WORST DIAL UP ISP ON THE PLANET) I had 2 coms going through it. But now i have cable net (on the WORST, TIGHTEST CABLE ISP) So in the contract, They monitor the ip going through the modem.
I can\'t get away with it. DAMMIT.
I don\'t want my com to be a server to my brothers com because there is a CAP on the modem. If we both download at the same time, We BOTH get the same download speed. But if there is Only 1 ip being used, and my com was the server. The download speed would be cut in half. So stuff that. :D

Yahhooooo, im on the Nortel Network :)
If your on the old network, screw up the modem somehow :D

Wow Al Gore must be hard at work
But seriously, oh yeah, broadband rules. Got my cable 2 months ago.
Costs me $0.00 because my company pays it all :D since I\'m such a big baller.
