I hope this will convince some of you people not to come here.  We don\'t need any more New Yorkers or Midwesterners in Southern California.  Please stay away.  Thank you.

Its more like the younger sibling with Down syndrome.  You want to get rid of them but then you\'d feel really, really bad about it so you let them hang out with you on occasion to make them feel special.

No, its the Armpit of America...

What good is Jersey other than cheaper gas, AC, and getting to important states like Philly and beyond?

The pizza ;) Plus the Turnpike was the model for the Interstate Highway system so you owe us that too. And we have some of the busiest ports so we get you the goods you want. Plus we have the shore :)

I will think of you the next time I walk in to a whole foods or a central market and see all the hippies roaming the aisles and wonder why the hell Austin of all places has to have one of the highest concentration of hippies outside of the herbal LA.

Glad I dont live in a big city. :)

China has some of the most polluted cities in the world IIRC, I think Peking was one of the most polluted cities in the world. So scary stuff.

China also doesn\'t have any environmental laws. Its like they just entered the Industrial Revolution, so its similar to city conditions in the US in the 1800 and early 1900s. They are starting to get better. I read a while ago that they\'re trying to pass some.

US cities are cleaning up too. With new laws and stuff in place, the air just gets cleaner every year. Its gonna take a couple decades though for the air to rebound.

NYC smells like urine. Jersey smells like decaying grass clippings and sewage. Buffalo, on the other hand smells like Lucky Charms, due to the General Mills plant downtown. I swear, I live in the suburbs and wake up to the smell of Lucky Charms almost everyday. (unless the wind shifts, then I smell the oil refineries in Niagara Falls....)

Theres a section of 295 in Jersey that smells like rotten eggs. I have to roll up my windows every time I pass by.

Darnedest thing is the smog in la is one big cloud, if you get up early enough in the morning you can watch it blow out to sea for the day. Then late afternoon it comes back in.

yea i remember those days....tho i don\'t remember it being on 295.....i\'ve always smelt that odor on the turnpike around the exit for interstate 78....but i think the cause is all of those factories in that immediate area...

This section of 295 is too far south of 78. If you were on the turnpike, you may be able to smell it near that section of 295.

90% of the steel mills in Pittsburgh shut down in the 80\'s.

it\'s getting slowly better, as more and more younger people move away for better jobs.
