Came out on DvD this past Tuesday. Going by what i\'ve read on the net it has very mixed reviews.
And I can see why, it can be very hard for some to follow. Espeacially a big time critic who was expecting a standard three act movie.
I personally really enjoyed it, a lot. Mainly in part because of the score that accompanied it. Gave it a very haunting feel, espeacially the parts in deep space.
People don\'t appear to have any middle ground on this movie, they either really like it or really despise it. Some people see it as art, others see it as a jumbled mess. I guess the same can be said about a Jackson Pollack painting, to some it looks like someone just splashed paint on a canvas recklessly while to others its a beautiful piece of art.
Anyways, pick this up for a rent if your looking for something different.
Watch it. Then watch it stoned.

It would have been a lot better without Hugh Jackman.
-
I grew a vagina and rented "Music and Lyrics". I liked it.
-
As I\'ve said before (while fighting with Coredweller ;)) I loved it. And yes, the score is absolutely amazing. Same guy who wrote the music to Requiem for a Dream, which was great as well (music and movie).
-
This one looked interesting to me, though I never got around to seeing it in the theater. I\'ll check it out.

I normally dislike Hugh Jackman but I was really happy with him in this movie.
This movie really doesn\'t give any answers to its audience. I have read 6 interpretations so far of the ending, and they all seem logical. This is also what almost all the bad reviews hate about the movie. I personally love that about the movie.
As I said in my first post I really loved the score. It really sticks with you, or me at least, after the movie has ended.
and Gman you rented a Drew Barrymoore / Hugh Grant movie? eww
*SPOILER*
some people say that all the parts in deep space are only in Tom\'s mind and its a way of coping with the loss of his wife. That interpretation kind of takes out some of the magic for me. I like to think that it is actually Tom in the future, after he discovered how to prevent aging and that he actually took a journey for hundreds of years, surviving off the Izzy tree while they make their way to Xiabalba. The idea of him being inside this bubble, trying to make it to that star for hundreds of years with his Izzy tree is my favourite part of the movie. Basically in the timeline of the movie, I view the future as the present day and all the scenes with Tommy the scientist are flashbacks. Things that are going through his mind as his journey comes to an end.
Also all the shots of the nebula were really beautiful.

i\'ll admit, i kinda stayed away from this one because of the reviews,... i\'m currently in the middle of renting those horrorfest movies that just came out not too long ago...pretty decent flicks, next time i rent a flick maybe i\'ll pick this up...
-
Saw it yesterday at the theatres and I must say I LLLLOOOOOVED it
10/10!!
Deep and original!
-
This movie SUCKED!!!!!! I want my $4 back... really. The bald Hugh Jackman doing yoga while floating around in space was idiotic.
I have seen some shitty films lately, but this one took top prize. I guess you have to be high or something to enjoy it, because honestly there is nothing to this film. Deep? No it is fucking :gay:. It is a trainwreck of a movie. No entertainment value what so fucking ever.
I suppose the same people that like music by Enya and Yani appreciate this crap. Not me.
-
I like Enya! But only when I make photo montage movies.
I\'m not gay. I just rape gay people. But that doesn\'t make me gay.
-
Now I hear Pan\'s Labyrinth is really good - though it is subtitled.
-
I saw Pan\'s Labyrinth. It was good.
-
Pan\'s Lab was good not great imo. Maybe my co-workers built it up too much for me.. although I like fantasy/foreign films this one is not a must-download errrr buy for me.
-
Now I hear Pan\'s Labyrinth is really good - though it is subtitled.
yea...i wanted to see this as well...i heard it\'s like a dark themed children\'s story...
-
If you didn\'t like The Fountain I doubt you\'ll like Pan\'s Labyrinth.
I hear Shrek III just opened though...
-
I loved Pan\'s Labyrinth, was glad I caught it in the theater. I don\'t get why people hate subtitles so much. Its not that bad.
-
- Because you can\'t eat popcorn and read subtitles at the same time
- Because I DONT LIEK TO READ, IT\'S NOT A BOOK IT\'S LIEK A MOVIE OR SUMTHING
- Because it\'s just pain un-American
...No I don\'t get the hate either. It\'s not the end of the world. And, gasp, many foreign people are used to it.
-
If you didn\'t like The Fountain I doubt you\'ll like Pan\'s Labyrinth.
I hear Shrek III just opened though...
Donkey > a bald Hugh Jackman doing yoga in outer space. :)
If Pans has an actual storyline and an ending - yeah I will like it.
-
I thought "The Fountain" tried too hard to be high-minded intellectual art, and ended up being way too diffuse and unfocused. Yes, the story is open to interpretation, but the whole thing felt false to me. I had little emotional investment in the characters, and didn\'t much sympathize with them.
The biggest redeeming feature of the film is Rachel Weisz. I could watch her reading the Internal Revenue Code, and I would be content. Hugh Jackman should go back to "The X Men" and "Van Helsing." He doesn\'t deserve any roles that require acting.
If you want to see a better film, seek out "The Constant Gardener."
-
I\'ve always liked Weisz. Easy on the eyes as well. :D
-
The constant gardener & blood diamond= movies to make you hate africa
-
Don\'t forget "The Last King of Scotland" to complete you cinematic tour of Africa. :(

heh a co-worker of mine brought that in to work one night, and while i really couldn\'t watch it all the way through, the parts i did happen to see was good, and some of it was just brutal,...that dude was no joke!...i guess i\'ll check out Blood Diamond soon as well cause i keep hearin\' Chizz rant and rave about it....:)
-
^^
Blood Diamond is an excellent film, though it will tie your stomach into knots. Child soldiers are...well...it\'s just sad.
-
Might as well check out "Hotel Rwanda" while you\'re at it. But for a frightening story about child soldiers, (in this case child criminals) nothing beats "City of God."
