PFFT... I saw this last month. Pretty cool animation, though. Nice dynamics work.
-
That was pretty cool. Why did the Japanese and American mech\'s stop?
-
Batteries?
-
I wanted to see a fight between the Japanese and American mech.
-
they shulda just had the american bot nuke the japanese bot at the end, quick way to finish and historically accurate :)
-
nice work...the ending kinda let\'s you know that the american mech defeated the japanese one....heh i didn\'t know the americans had a mech as well, with those planes bein\' destroyed like that....i also liked how everybody\'s expression on the base was like.."holy s**t!" and the chaos that unraveled shortly thereafter was great...:thumb:

isn\'t the swastika the wrong way round?

This is a good example of something I\'ve noticed from both CG amateurs and professionals. Guys who are good with 3d modeling, good animators, good with CG in general... are not always good artists. One might even say they are rarely good artists.
The character models for the three mechs need help. Not only are they somewhat unoriginal, but they can be downright foolish looking. The face for the german mech looks ridiculous with that huge chin, while the US mech has virtually no face at all. Maybe this guy figured out that he didn\'t know what he was doing and just gave up on the US mech design?
-
I gave it a C+ overall.
A+ for technical difficulty.
F- for the story. It could have been much better. The lack of naked seamen and marines in the water was a let down. BTW, the warships would have seen that large Nazi noggin in the water and would have blown it back to France.

I don\'t know if you\'ve ever done any modelling or animating, but if this is a one-guy effort it\'s pretty amazing. Most of the time, even in small houses, concept, modelling, texturing, animating, and dynamics are all handled by different people, if not teams of people.
-
I thought the kraut one looked a bit like a darth vader ripoff, apart from the chin

Yes, you\'re 100% right. I find it terrifying to think of how much time this took if one person really did it all. (I don\'t know for sure if that\'s true, because I didn\'t sit through the credits) If this were a normal (for-pay) CG project, they wouldn\'t have let this guy do the character design.
He is a pretty damn good animator though.

True... since everything else in the movie is an historic replica, you do see the flaws in CD...

I am pretty sure they would have looked that ugly if Nazis and Americans did develop such robots in the 40s\' 50s\'. If not uglier.
Every machinery in their time looked ugly and unispiring

HUSH UP, Goat boy!
B-17 and P-51 Mustangs were beautiful. Hell, most WW2 planes looked awesome.
Except the B-24 Liberator. Meh. I just don\'t care for it.

Your opinion has no merit. :p My opinions are facts universally accepted even on Holidays.

I have a soft spot for the B-24... don\'t know why, probably the ploeshti (sp?) oil field raids.. and of course, the Chance-vaught F4U Corsair... Me & my boys love it so much, we named our band "corsair" "Black Sheep Squadron" was my fave show as a kid...
