Probably just a type on the gamestop newsletter, but who knows.

thatd be way too quickly...

would be a nice gameplan for us. Release the console with barely any releases, then price drop it just in time for the boat-load of games coming out

looks like a typo...i\'ve heard that sony might possibly drop the price for this christmas season, probably nothing significant, if there is one, i\'d say the new price at the most would probably be around 550.00 and at the very least 570.00....still pretty pricey...

Nah I dont think the price drop will be that less. Sony knows that they need a price drop and this is what they are discussing right now I am sure.

I am expecting $100 the least(price drop).

i\'d be shocked if they dropped it by 200$.

although it would give me a reason to rofl at the haters that have been puking all over the internet that the PS3 is a failure.

probably faked, very easy to edit the html locally and printscreen it.

sega seems to think sony needs a price cut....

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6173530.html?tag=latestnews;title;3

Some of what sega is sayin\' is true as far as exclusives are concerned. Sony\'s lost alot of their exclusives, not really sure if that is due to the technology of the ps3 or just bad marketing. Heh, some of the comments made by people following the article are funny...people in the gamespot audience are extremely young and ignorant, they must have strickly kids no older than 12- 14 years old postin\' over there...

Sega needs to start making good games again before they start whining.

Funny that there are a few PS3 exclusives from Sega coming up, notably Rally 3, so they obviously have alot of faith in the platform.

That should be lack of userbase, PS2 wasnt as easy to develop for as the competitors and it was the least powerful yet developers choose to make exclusives for it than XBOX or the GC

Noway they are gonna drop it by that much. I don\'t see them dropping it all. Still losing a boat load on each machine. Hey would be nice but like MM said I think its fake.

who\'s driving the price cut in those ad\'s? It seems like the stores themselves are doin\' some type of sale on ps3\'s rather than it being an official price cut from sony....either way i\'ll take it tho...:)

that look like a 100$ price drop starting just after E3.

add this with the 5 free BR movie promotion/ (http://www.bluraysavings.com/) and it makes a real deal :D

Welcome back to the console war, Sony. I am starting to regret buying a 20gb ( i did swap out the HDD for a 120), but it was all i could find at launch. I think they should drop it to 479, and an HDMI device, to compete directly with the Elite, and Sony should emphasize the large 360 failure rate. (MS did just announce a 3 year warranty, which will cost them 1.5 billion.) They said they hardware failure rate is unacceptable. I am on my 3rd 360 myself.

I\'ve had my 360 for more than a year, and zero problems.

My buddy has a 360 and it crapped out on him. He fixed it though. This price drop is great but I still can\'t afford it, lol.

its the same ps3 people that say the 360 having a head start is the reason its doing better/has better games are the same people pointing out a higher failure rate in the 360. Just find it kind of estupido.

theres problems with every console of every generation. I had 3 ps2\'s crap out (1 of which was the same..got replaced then went a long time before the final crapper).

i\'m still on my 1st ps2,... it\'s still goin\' strong *knocks on wood* i will admit tho that i went through about 3 psx\'s,..the part that holds the cd in place would almost always come off or become loose (that small black piece in the middle that actually fastens itself on the cd)....i remember havin to put the psx on it\'s side for games to play properly  :D....on another note tho, i really wasn\'t aware of the 360 havin problems like that, but viper\'s right,..every console has had it\'s share of problems...

Stir of Echoes is the only diamond on that shit list.

yeah, shit list. But it\'s still 5 BR movie that you can trade or sell later for one or two good movie /shrug

as for the PS2, I have bought mine on day one (18 hours line up!) and mine still working good. It\'s been my DVD player ever since. It cannot read DVD recorded with my new PC (shrug) and sometime it bug out during playback, but I activate the "diagnostic" in the console menu and it fix it :D

Anyway, time to get a PS3. price cut, new games  coming out shortly and home will be ready soon :D

Not the only one. The Devils Rejects, Blazing Saddles, Black Rain, Babel & The Last Waltz.

Not bad for free.

$500 is just a tad higher than the 360 Elite (which I believe is still susceptible to the red ring of death).

For a Blu-Ray player and console, this is a steal.

add DVD upscaler and PS & PS2 player :D

Also, in Canada, Sony as required store to sell the PS3 549$ same price as the Elite

http://www.dailytech.com/Sony+Announces+80GB+PlayStation+3+Bundle+Confirms+Price+Cut/article7964.htm

the "bundle" really make no sense. Motorstorm + 20 GB HD is not worth 100$

cool, but still no reason for me to buy one.

When god of war III, shadow of the collosus II, and by that time probably the next metal gear, then it\'ll be worth it. Games seem to take FOREVER to get released now since they do so much with games. Great when they are released but shitty to hear about the game for 3 years before seeing it

Fucking true that. I\'ll look into a PS3 in maybe a year when it has some quality material. I\'m done with buying consoles at release.

To bad the price drop was only so they could announce another $600 dollar model.

Still, if you want a Blu-Ray player, this is the best bet.

it\'s still pretty expensive...but any price drop is a good one..i knew price was going to be a big factor for them...they had an arrogance about them that people would buy a $600 system with no problem.
