It wasn\'t a fair fight at all, but for funsies, a vintage-car hill-climb allowed Forbes Magazine to enter a late model HUMMER H2. You know, just to see how the 316-hp, 4WD SUV would do against, say, a 100-hp 1921 Model T driven by a 70-year-old man. Like we said, it wasn\'t fair at all.
The HUMMER climbed the 475-foot-tall hill in 10.74 seconds and didn\'t even break a sweat. Among those not surprised at the HUMMER\'s prowess was Gary Le Fever, the Model T driver who was waiting at the top of the hill for the H2. Le Fever and his 86-year-old Ford had finished the climb in 9.96 seconds!
Not a huge difference in a conventional match-up, but considering the participants, an amazing triumph for the Model T\'s engineering simplicity over the HUMMER\'s hefty muscle.
BTW, the photo is for illustration only. The hill climb was, we understand, much larger.

It\'s not a matter of "engineering simplicity." It\'s called POWER-TO-WEIGHT RATIO. So much of the car-buying public is ignorant of basic physics. God I hate SUVs.

didn\'t those old model T\'s only have like 20 horsepower? not 100
it\'s a blog too, so it\'s probably just a bunch of crap
EDIT: ok I read the forbes article and I can believe it now... they tricked out the engine from newer engines and frankensteined an engine that could do 100 horses. No way a stock model t could beat any modern day car in a climb like that

Either way, it was still less powerful by like 50 percent. Still pretty cool.

didn\'t the model T get like 13-18 MPG which isn\'t any better than a hummer?

Hummers fucking suck. You can only be so selfish and have such a small cock that buying a Hummer seems like a good idea.
EDIT: It seems I accidently closed the thread?! Sorry about that, I have no idea how that happened.

Bleh. :p
The thing is, I didn\'t touch a damn thing. I replied, and closed the tab. So unless you can close a thread by a keyboard shortcut (and I accidentally pressed said shortcut), I have no idea what happened.

The model T is no longer available from Ford Motor Company, so we don\'t have to worry about the public buying Model Ts and wasting natural resources.
We DO have to worry about the public buying Hummers instead of a normal modern car that gets 30+ mpg.

I would have thought for the time period, the Model T\'s gas milage is pretty good. That\'s like what my car gets, between 16-18 mpg.

It peaks around 31 mpg in highway driving, and averages around 26. But then I don\'t use it for commuting, and put very few miles on it for any purpose. Don\'t forget they only sell about 6,000 S2000s per year in the US, so it\'s a tiny blip in the national fuel consumption analysis.
It\'s still far more efficient than an H2.

Yeah, the music is gay and so are electric cars. For a daily driver I\'d possibly buy one if htey were worth it but for a fun car, I can\'t take them seriously.

So, your going to judge the car by the gay music that some douche added to his youtube video?
I would recommend that you check out the specs of the car on the Tesla Motors website.

i\'ve read about this car before...it\'s kinda pricey, but it\'s impressive for the performance you can get out of it, especially since it\'s all electric.....i guess car manufacturers can really shut the middle east down if they really wanted to, cause if they could make a high performance all electric car, then i\'m sure they could create normal every day cars that could perform just as good as those gasoline cars, and yes even perform better than those hybrids...

The music presentation reflects the company. Therefore, gay music equals a gay car :)
