It\'s been a long time since this many games came out this quickly.
Definitly getting:
NHL 08- havent had a hockey game in a while and Im hearing a lot of good things about this game
Fifa 08- same as nhl, but i loved the fifa 07 demo, so the gameplay along with the added features should be awesome
Assassins Creed
Mass Effect

Brothers in Arms (not sure when it\'s coming out though)

i\'m not into 1st person shooters so they can keep those.
Alot of the games i want aren\'t even due to be out this year, so it makes even more sense for me to possibly get a ps3 sometime next year....
On the ps2 front the only game that i\'m waitin\' for and i guess it\'s sort of a cheap way to say i\'m waitin\' for res evil 5 is obscure 2....even tho i hear the 1st obscure was kinda wack.

since i\'ve been ps3-less for a while i may break down and do the $350 60gb deal (http://digg.com/playstation_3/Want_a_PS3_for_350) from SonyStyle (if that\'s still in effect) just for T5: DR when it goes online.
If that happens I\'ll probably pick up RE5. Too bad GTA4 is a no show this year :(

Fable 2 - will 360 it. I am one of the few who thought the original Fable, while not ground breaking was still a solid fun console RPG.
Mass Effect - No way I will pass it up. KOTOR is one of my single all time favorite games.
BioShock - Done the demo, was great. I\'m sure I\'ll get it.

I\'ve had high hopes for Hellgate London ever since I found out the old Diablo / Diablo 2 team was in charge for it.
I keep hearing about Mass Effect but don\'t know much about it. Never played KOTOR. Is it coming to the PC?

Bioshock is getting amazing reviews from almost everywhere. I don\'t typically dig FPS games (last two I enjoyed were Condemmed and F.E.A.R ). I still plan on checking it out once I free some money up from my PC project (about to dump another $600 in that PC).

after debating about getting that, since it does seem like a good deal, I say bs. You still pay full price for the ps3, but then 8-12 weeks later you have a credit card, and 150 on that new credit card. Granted, in the end, you save 150 bucks. But you also have to spend that 150 to make use of it, and make the deal worth it in the first place.

LiC: Haha, the last two really worthwhile (NON-WW2) FPSs were Condemned and FEAR. :)
I liked Condemned. It wasn\'t in the ballpark of a Half-Life 2 or Far Cry, but definitely favorable (or at least equal) in comparison to Doom 3.

Never really tried Far Cry, gave up on Half-Life 2 out of boredom and well, Doom 3 was just more of the same.. I just now got into FEAR, due to the fact my previous system didn\'t run it so well. I\'m liking it a lot, only complaint being the environments are somewhat dull (so far).. Now, Condemned, that was a damn great game, if not overly hard.

With all the hype surrounding BioShock I may pick it up, but I\'m really looking forward to Tiger Woods 08 and pretty much nothing else.

LiC: Try Far Cry before Crysis comes out. The original PC version of Far Cry, not the console versions.

One thing is certain,...there\'s waaay too many fps comin\' out, i guess there\'s a market for it tho, and these next gen. systems are finally givin their pc counterparts some competition, and of course any high end pc will always be better than the consoles, but the gap won\'t be as big as it was...

dont even get me started on the pc/console shooter situation. Rainbow six was an amazing series up till Raven Shield. Then consoles become their main concern and Lockdown was a f-in joke. Vegas is way better, but I guarantee the patch support for pc will fall off the face of the earth eventually and the pc community will be screwed over.
Then ghost recon..another awesome game (that and desert siege). Console becomes their main concern and the game is nothing what it should be anymore. PC people dont get patches while 360 got a bunch of new maps/game modes.
THEN battlefield. Battlefield 2, I\'ve put an insane number of hours. The console version of battlefield has nothing on that game, yet they arent even making the next battlefield game on PC.
You can make a small arguement that call of duty did the same thing, since call of duty 3 wasn\'t on PC, but Infinity Ward is the good company out of the two that make the game and theyre putting the 4th one on PC. So maybe every other year theyll ignore PC people.
Just f-in tired of these companies that got started because of the support PC people gave them, and screwing them in the butt by putting all of their attention on the console versions of games. granted i have the 360 and actually like a good amount of FPS\'s on consoles (i thought all shooters on ps2/xbox were crap). Still pisses me off

Oddly enough I prefer the 360 version of Battlefield over the PC one.

Whoever snags BioShock tomorrow, weather you get it for PC or 360 be sure to post your thoughts on it for us :)
Also wanted to add that I\'m looking forward to Team Fortress 2 as well. The original TF was just one of those games I loved and remember putting countless hours into as a young teen. Not really a big fan of cell shading but if the gameplay is the same then i\'ll be more than happy.

lol forgot about portal :D It looks interesting, and I like the trailer for it :) I\'m usually quite happy with Valve products. Not into puzzle games really but I think it looks fun.

Its in the half-life 2: orange box. So portal alone isnt worth 60 bucks, but I might get it. Kind of doubt it since ill be too busy with the other games. Not including games like dirt, vegas, madden, etc that I have and still play.
orange box has half-life 2, HL2: ep. 1 and 2, team fortress 2, and portal. So its a pretty big game. Id play the 3 half-life games, but i think team fortress and portal would end up taking a back seat

Maybe I am odd, but I loved the original Half-Life, but could not be bothered to make it halfway through Half Life 2. It all just seemed so boring.

Haha same here, I\'m only like 1/3rd through HL2, but I play CS, DOD and The Ship quite a bit.

For those getting bioshock, circuit city is selling it for 10 bucks off.
Im debating if i should just price match at best buy, and use my 50 buck gift card that ive had since march. my cheapness is becoming a problem,haha. I held onto it just for this rush of games...wasnt anticipating buying bioshock but o well. Im debating whether to just get it now (while its 10 bucks off) even though my 360 is being repaired. no idea when ill get it back.
Decided on Bioshock, mass effect, call of duty 4, fifa 08, and assassins creed now; nhl 08 and brothers in arms for christmas; and then rent stuff like army of two and ace combat. Thatll get me to GTA IV,lol

I ended up buying bioshock on pc. Might as well get it out of the way, but it was WAY more trouble than i would have liked to get this game playing. First my dvd-rom wouldnt read the dvd (heard many people had this problem), and then i couldnt install this singleplayer game because 2k\'s website is down, and you have to go through an autopatching system in order to play the game the first time..i dont even think there was a patch, but itd just negate the whole install if you skipped that step. But i got it to work the next morning.
The game itself is awesome. some people were worried that only having 5 bad dudes would be bad for the game, but it really isn\'t a big deal and takes no fun out of the game. They mix those 5 characters enough to always make it fun killing them. The plasmids, for the most part, are cool. there\'s a few pointless ones. I havent been able to upgrade my weapons yet, since im not that far, but theyre alright; probably the least impressive part of the game, but still fun in the heat of the moment.
And the game is relatively linear, but they werent lieing that there is a lot to explore. I was personally expecting a widish open, linear path, and there would be random shit all around (making it pretty dumb), but there\'s hidden rooms, walkways, underground parts, etc etc that make the exploring worthwhile. plus most of the really hidden stuff has some cool guns/powers in the rooms.
The bad side is that when im done playing this one time, that\'ll probably be it. I MIGHT play it a second time, but i rarely ever do. Plus, they did kind of make the exploring part pretty frusterating. Say you go through a room, totally explore it and collect everything, then go on to the next bit of the map; if you have to go back through that same area at another time, you have to RE-explore everything because stuff pops up in places you already looked. Just gets stupid to spend 10 minutes in a room, then going back and having to do it all over again.
But overall, if you have a good pc, get it for 40 bucks (think the deal ends at circuit city soon). If you only have a 360, maybe get it for 50 (also at CC), but i probably wouldnt pay 60 for it. The game is awesome, and I\'m glad they put so much effort into it, but replayability naturally lacks in single player only games

Downloaded the demo, apparently my driver for the 7900GTX GO card has issues and they haven\'t released a new driver for it (laptops get no love) so I\'m going to wait on getting it for my computer.
It ran fine up until the second load and it just crashes.

Overlord was fun for about 5 hours then it just kind of died off for me.

I had never even heard of it until recently. I\'ve got the PC version, which in all honesty, compared to the 360, it\'s gorgeous. I prefer the controls also (Mouse - Minions / Keyboard - Main).

Penny-arcade advertised the hell out of it so I figured I\'d give it a shot. Got the PC version and had a lot of fun with it but it just kind of died out and I never picked up again. The story is quite short but there are a number of "hidden" powerups to find although its not all terribly difficult to find them. The main replayability factor for me was the fact you can play good or evil, which sounds strange seeing as you\'re supposed to be evil.

it\'s funny because i was really not too impressed by the demo. It was good, but not mindblowingly fun er nothing. But im having a blast with the full game. Has a few parts that scared the crap outta me, to awesome parts of 2 big daddies kicking eachothers asses.

I thought maybe I was crazy, but I looked up some reviews and the PC version is better control and graphics wise.
Any difference in the good or evil? Ending? Anything worth noting? As of right now, I am burning everything to the ground.

there are several small clips at the end that are dictated by what you do in the game, other than that, not really. Although I wasn\'t 100% good or evil either time, there probably is something you get for it but i\'m not that dedicated to doing it.
Yeah, usually my PC will make any game look a lot better than its 360 counterpart and I couldn\'t imagine controlling the minions with a mouse. Especially when you are doing multiple commands later on in the game when you have all 4 types of minions.

My only complaint so far is the lack of a map. Other than that, I think the game is damn near perfect. Sure, it\'s linear, but it\'s just damn fun.

Reason 1 is the only one that matters, because I install old games all the time too, but Im hoping/anticipating a fix down the road when pirating the game isn\'t a concern (since it\'d be old and probably pirated).

I\'ll still be getting it for PC. Even tho I don\'t even own a 360.. But if I still did I am pretty positive that I would still get it for the PC. With the exception of the Halo franchise, FPS\'s on consoles have always felt weird to me.

I disagree.
The SecurRom should not be installed.
The two time install rule should not be around .
The botched W/S support needs fixed.
There is almost NO difference in DirecX9 and DirecX10 version.
There is a ton of problems with Bioshock on the PC. If it was just one problme, then I would say it is over-reacting, when it is this many problems for one product, then the outrage is justified.

We have been reading and listening to your frustrations over SecuROM, PC activation problems, and technical support issues since BioShock launched on Tuesday, and we\'ve devised a plan to help.
Starting immediately, we will be upping the activation count to a 5 by 5 plan. We will be raising the maximum amount of computers a user can have BioShock installed on simultaneously from 2 to 5, and allowing a user to reinstall BioShock on each of those computers from 3 times to 5 times. Also, we have in the works a revoke tool which you will be able to run on your machine if you want to free up that key and move it to to another computer (this works very much like Steam or iTunes system). We are also working with SecuROM and 2K customer service, so that when you do need to call in support problems, you get answers to your questions faster, without much waiting or being bounced around. SecuROM has been given much more autonomy to help fix your problems quickly and effectively. I am personally sorry for anyone who got bounced around in the past couple days (I even think I contributed to this problem) and we\'re going to make sure that does not happen in the future. As for other technical issues, we are bringing on a team of tech support that will be on the 2K forums 24/7 to help people resolve their technical issues. Our QA guys are in the offices and on the forums, too, reproducing issues and looking for workarounds and compiling information that they can put towards making you a patch and updating the knowledge base.
Also, we are aware that our activation server went down last night, stopping some of you from finishing your installs. The server is up and running now and we have corrected the problem that caused that crash.
Finally, we have released a FAQ, which you can view in full below (and will also be posted on the 2K Forums in the Technical Support area) that will help clear up a lot of questions and misinformation that has been floating around about SecuROM and PC activation.
And as for widescreen, we also want to say we completely understand a user\'s desire to augment their FOV. BioShock is a harrowing experience, but we don\'t want anyone to feel limited (or motion sick!). So we are in the process of working on an official PC patch to give widescreen PC users a choice to expand their horizontal FOV, and are investigating creating a similar update for the 360.

Maybe I\'m naive but I personally don\'t really care, most of these problems will be fixed well before I have a PC to run the game on.

wow,haha. I dont think i can recall a game with a lot of hype get that bad of a score.
in other news, the skate demo is f-in awesome and the nhl 08 is fun as hell. both kind of hard, but once i get used to the controls they should be solid games to own. Was planning on not actually buying skate and i was planning on waiting till christmas for nhl but...guess that won\'t be happening
