Title: Digital muscles for Beowulf
Post by: Joker on August 19, 2007, 08:22:38 PM
Ahhhh if only it was this easy :) 50 year old actor Ray Winstone got to skip out on the gym (can\'t really blame him at 50) and was digitally buffed up for the new movie Beowulf.
When I watched the Beowulf trailer I didn\'t know how the hell he managed to get in great shape and look so much younger. Guess he got the ultimate easy way out. I bet Arnold is pissed.
heres the trailer for the actual movie for those interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9qpqyO_dmU
(how do I put the youtube videos into the posts instead of a link and make it all classy looking like Gman does?)

Um...
They kind of give you the embed code on YouTube on each and every movie...

Did you see the trailer at a movie theater, or did you only see it online? I think If you see it in a movie theater, it\'s evident that the film is 100% CG, so they can make the actors look any way they want. Therefore, I\'m not so surprised about Winstone\'s appearance.
I am reserving judgement on this film, because they\'re trying something new by using the live actors\' facial likenesses. Also, I\'d like to finally see a good movie version of this story. However, there are innumerable ways they can screw it up, so I\'m not expecting very much.

Its just like polar express with that raycasting/modeling effect thing, they filmed it first.

I think it\'\'s pretty weird to film it first, then make it CG. I\'d rather have just real film. :(

it probably cost them more as well, first to film it, then pay the actors, then to re-do it in cg. This of course is assuming that they filmed the actors first,...maybe they just used cg models in the first place...

I just watched it on the net. I can see your point tho, it would be more clear on the big screen that its CGI. I wanted the trailer to have some shots of Crispin Glover as Grendel but I\'ll have to wait I guess. I really like Ray Winstone and fantasy films in general so I am looking forward to this movie, also I enjoyed the poem/book when they made me read it in school :)
Only other Beowulf movie I\'ve seen was Beowulf & Grendel with Gerard Butler. It wasn\'t too terrible, some weird parts in it but I did enjoy it overall. Actually the more I think about it I actually enjoyed it a fair bit. Heres a trailer for it.

Looks like ass.
Beowulf as a literary piece bored me to tears...Grendel on the other hand was amazing.

I just rewatched the trailer in high definition. It looks much better than the first time around (crappy youtube quality). So I\'ll say that it looks somewhat interesting and that I\'ll reserve judgement until I\'ve actually seen the whole thing.
