Post by: GmanJoe on September 05, 2007, 09:59:28 AM
Rothlesjesus is going to be calling his own plays!
Will our defense keep Big Ben on the field long enough to score?
GO STEELERS!
And I will root for any team that goes up against the most hated team on the NFL - the Cowboys! If you like the Cowboys, you\'re RACIST!
And go Redskins! :p

My fucken Chiefs are gonna be bad this year... they\'ve looked horrible in the preseason and no amount of LJ is gonna fix it i\'m afraid.
They shouldn\'t have even made the playoffs last year, so I guess it\'s just gonna be downhill for the next few years. It figures too, we go from having the best offense to the worst.. and the defense is doing the exact opposite... is it too much to have both at the same time????
OH, and the Ravens are going to kill the Steelers this year... I\'ll see it in person December 30th :)

I really dont get why the chiefs arent a playoff team. That defense has so many big names, yet theyre always at the bottom in stats and stuff. All they really need are recievers (or at least the ones they have to step up) and a full-time qb, i think they should be better than what they are playing. Considering Huard did pretty damn well coming in as a backup last year, I still think hell be alright for now despite the bad preseason.
On to a more important team :D, the broncos have made a lot of aquisitions that im excited about. Simeon Rice, Dre Bly, Travis Henry, Brandon Stokley, that rookie DE..good stuff. But the one thing they didnt do was replace Al Wilson with anyone good. I still think Cutler has another year of being mediocre, but hopefully by next year theyll sign a good #2 reciever if Brandon Marshall doesnt work out since i dont think Rod Smith will play next year

Even without the distraction of Tiki retiring, they are still the same self destructive team . They don\'t stand a chance, I expect them to start off decent and totally collapse by the end of the season.
With that said, let\'s all gather around Thursday and watch what should of been the Superbowl game. Yeah, I\'m talking about two of the best offenses going head to head, Colts at Saints, baby. Here\'s hoping the Colt\'s get off to a strong start, but I wouldn\'t be surprised if the Saints deliver an upset. :thumb:

i\'m glad dallas won, but the defense still concerns me...there\'s no way we should be lettin\' teams score that high on us, and why is it that whenever we get a lead, they get ultra conservative?...we had a two possesion lead and the cb\'s were givin\' the recievers like a 2 mile gap between them and all manning had to do was throw it underneath...and he did until they scored...then dallas goes into panic mode, and romo throws an INT late....i\'m glad they won, but when they have the lead, they need to keep the pressure up...they almost always lose when they play like that...
and it was a dumb move to get rid of Aaron Glenn...

Sources: Camera confiscated after claims of Pats spying on Jets
NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team\'s sideline during Sunday\'s game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said.
The camera and its tape were placed in a sealed box and forwarded to the league office for investigation, the sources said.
"The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches\' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game," the league said in a statement from spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent\'s offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited.
"We are looking into whether the Patriots violated this rule."
The Patriots\' cameraman was suspected of aiming his camera at the Jets\' defensive coaches who were sending signals to their unit on the field, the sources said. The league also is investigating some radio frequency issues that occurred during the game.

They caught the same camera guy suspected of doing the same exact thing on Green Bay\'s sidelines and was escorted out of the Stadium by GB officials. Damnit Eli\'s out for a frigging month, time to start calling Byron Leftwich\'s agent to see if we can get him suited up.
GMan, ref\'s blow calls it\'s part of the game Boller threw up a short pass that should of been a sure touchdown before the other ticky tack foul was called. It\'s not just the ref\'s fault the Ravens lost nor is it just Boller\'s.

This is the second time the Patriots have been accused of this. The league really needs to step up and either prove or disprove this whole ordeal. If in fact they are doing these, I think it taints everything they\'ve done up to this point.
Oh and the Cowboys are pathetic. I mean, they barely beat the Giants, who are equally pathetic. It\'s one those deals where both teams suck and someone has to win. With that said, no one is more pathetic than a team that can turn over the ball six times..Yes, the Ravens.
I wonder if the Giant\'s will try and pick someone up or let fatass Lorenzo start? As someone who lives in Kentucky and remembers how bad Lorezno is, I can\'t believe he can even be second string
Quote
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets\' coaches, according to league sources.

clips I\'m so glad to actually have someone on my side in sports around here
but I am upset with our defense. I felt that we have a solid run defense, but adding Hamlin was supposed to make our secondary so much better. Sure, we are missing Newman (a top 5 CB) but 35 points from a hobbled team is bad. I don\'t know to dismiss it as a fluke or not. But I do know our defense will only get better once Newman is back.
Enough criticizing, our passing game was amazing. No T. Glenn? Oh well, Romo throws for 4 TD\'s and 345 yards... We have probably one of the top three offenses in the league, and we still have room to improve at RB. But I think switching Barber to starter would cause a dramatic improvement.
Our real test will be Chicago week 3.

PHILADELPHIA - Sheldon Brown and the Eagles hoped a blitz would rattle Tom Brady. One problem: Every time the Eagles rushed Brady in the Super Bowl, the Patriots nullified the defensive attack with screen passes. Lots of them. On almost every play defensive coordinator Jim Johnson called for a blitz, the Patriots used the short pass to confuse the Eagles.

He(Belichick) was the mastermind behind it afterall...these are his comments...
"I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight\'s ruling," the statement said. "Once again, I apologize to the Kraft family and every person directly or indirectly associated with the New England Patriots for the embarrassment, distraction and penalty my mistake caused. I also apologize to Patriots fans and would like to thank them for their support during the past few days and throughout my career"
"Both the NFL and Belichick stressed that the camera was seized before the end of the first quarter and had no impact on the game, which the Patriots won 38-14."
Riiiight....^^^that\'s crazy,... you can still gain useful info from a team within the 1st quarter...

100% agree with you shockie, Belichek should have been fined and suspended, this is cheating what happens if someone is caught with HGH? They get suspended, hell they even suspended the QB coach in Dallas and he lost quite a bit of money too.

With such a weak punishment they might as well patted them on the back for all this. They gained much more than the lost in the end, which is sad/pathetic. I already didn\'t like the NFL, just gives me another reason to hate it. Not to mention the fact that they didn\'t even cover how they were cutting out opponents\' headsets during the middle of the game.
They\'ve probably been doing this for years, if only they could strip some super bowls.

I don\'t think you can take away championships in the pros. I just don\'t think it really makes sense. But I do think they should have done something that would have actually hurt the team. I would have voted a full season suspension for Belichick, meaning no contact with the team at all. At least a 4 game suspension plus the draft pick. Besides, that pick is gonna be at the end of the round. The money means nothing to these people.
Goodell suspends everyone...except Belichick. Ridiculous. How something like this is less of a disgrace when it questions the integrity of the game than the Cowboys QB coach taking HGH to deal with ED, I have no idea. You\'re running a league Goodell, not being a parent.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: shockwaves on September 14, 2007, 01:06:44 PM
And Belichick\'s "apology" just makes me hate him more. It\'s so frustrating. The writing of the rule was black and white and he knew perfectly well he was violating it. He was just warned about it. And he says that he just had a different interpretation? God, at least take some responsibility. The guy pisses me off so much. I don\'t think there\'s a coach in the NFL who comes off as more of an asshole.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Raz The Friggin Grea on September 14, 2007, 01:26:08 PM
Yeah, Goodell really dropped the ball on this one, for the simple reason he suspended Dallas QB coach for HGH, which has no effect on the game, but this, obvious cheating doesn\'t warrant the same?
Really the worse part of this isn\'t the cheating, it\'s the arrogance. The whole thing just shows how arrogant Belichick has become .

Another interesting piece is, during this offseason, the league took a vote to allow a defensive captain to wear a headset (like the QB). It was two votes away from being passed, one of those votes against it was f from Belichick himself.

wow the browns and bengals put up another re-make of last year,...yea games like that usually means the defense is severly lacking, but big plays are bein made all over the place..:fro:..and i really gotta give it up to both teams for really playin\' hard...good game...and even tho i didn\'t see the cowboys game, i\'m glad they won... 2-0 start baybay---chea! :fro:...and the pats are just provin\' to the world that they never needed to use those spyin\' tactics in tha first place.
I mean we all knew that the pats were a solid team from the jump,.. and that addition of randy moss is just terrorizin\' opposin\' teams secondaries....whelp, i thought the chargers were goin\' to put up a better fight, but the chargers were the one\'s that got that ass zapped...oh well belichick and tom brady are still two of the biggest assholes in the league...

GO BRONCOS!!
barely getting 2 wins against bad teams..Their defense is solid, and their offense is amazing...until they get to the opponents 35 yard line and they fall apart. luckily everyone in the afc west is struggling.

meh,...i can\'t agree with mcnabb here,..any qb that plays bad will most likely get blamed for the loses,...even tho it\'s a team effort, the qb will always catch heat....that said tho,...i do remember rush limbaugh i think it was who made some racially charged comments against mcnabb last year or maybe two years ago....and shortly after mcnabb shut-up most of his critics with some stellar performances in the later weeks...*this was probably that year they went to the superbowl*.....but rush Limbaugh is a racist bastard anyway so his comments are irrelevant.
Back on Topic,...the only thing mcnabb needs to do is to just put some wins under his belt to shut up his critics,....and people need to realize he\'s not 100%...he\'s still struggling through injuries sustained from last year....i haven\'t watched a full eagles game but the times that i did see it, mcnabb did look sloppy in alot of plays,...and the only thing the annoucers kept sayin\' in that regard was that mcnabb is still suffering from his injuries,...but if these long standing injuries are going to prove to be a problem in the forseeable future(spel) then mcnabb may have something to worry about...

I\'d agree that black starting qb\'s arent under more scrutiny, but shaun king had a good point on nfl life. He pointed out that there really arent that many black backup qb\'s..for the most part theyre like 85% white, which makes you think whether there\'s something to that or not. what that would be I have no idea

I don\'t agree with him, but when you have only what 2 starting Qb\'s in the league. one which is going to jail and the other 0-2 I could see how he would possibly think they are under more scrutiny. But McNabb of all people to throw out the race card after doing the Chunky Campbell Soup ads, come on!!! :)

there\'s a lot more than 2. mcnabb, mcnair, leftwich (when he takes harrington\'s job), T. Jackson, Campbell, gerrard...technically Russell/culpepper since the raiders are going nowhere with mccown.

You\'re not overly criticized cause you\'re black, you\'re overly criticized cause you\'re in Philly, you get hurt often, and every time you get hurt, your backup wins more than you did.

We\'ll see if the Steelers are for real this weekend. 2-0 and vs 2-0.

the niners are far from difficult. the only reason they beat the cardinals were because the cardinals played THAT badly. Neither offense could do shit. Only thing impressive about the niners is their blitzing, and one of their LB\'s tore his ACL. Their rookie LB looked really damn good though. and the Rams are struggling for whatever reason.
steelers should dominate. if they don\'t, then its just one of those weeks in the nfl.

Chiefs still own that title man. That defense is stacked and theyre horrible. Donnie edwards, napoleon harris (both new/very good) on top of bell, d. johnson, surtain, law, jared allen...larry johnson can\'t do shiet.
rivers choked in the 4th quarter and started overthrowing everyone.

I mean, no way you can argue the Chiefs are a bigger waste of talent. The Chargers clearly have a lot more talent, and both are 1-2. However, the Chiefs were expected to be 1-2. Not so much with the Chargers.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on September 23, 2007, 03:31:51 PM
to me, a waste of talent is when a whole season is a disappointment. The chargers are far from out of it, and theres no reason not to expect them to get out of their funk, mainly just LT because rivers has been doing alright. The first 3 quarters he was awesome today.
The chiefs on the other hand have had very good players and havent even gotten to the playoffs in multiple seasons.

Tomlinson has been awful this year. 130 yards rushing in 3 games on 57 carries? That\'s bad by anyone\'s standards.
The Chargers have much better players. The fact that everyone expects them to turn around is a testament to that. I don\'t even think the Chiefs have very good players. Nothing at QB or WR, an OLine that\'s gone way down hill, and a defense that has never been that good. I don\'t know where you\'re getting the idea that they have a lot of talent on defense from.
Either way, as long as they have the same record, there\'s no question what the larger waste of talent is.

tru, no doubt...we had a tough first half,...but the second half belonged to us...and i love the combo of barber/jones at running back...it works so well for this team....even tho it was kinda hard to run against the bears last night, coming towards the end i think they were startin\' to wear down a bit...and i love how romo handles pressure, even with guys grabbing at his jersey and hands in his face, he still finds recievers...he\'s doin\' a great job there as well...overall they played a solid game...
Now the bears on the other hand...i don\'t see a problem with the D, cause they were giving us problems early on...i think grossman is going to hear an earful after that performance tho.

I called it weeks ago, that this was going to be a rough season in KC. We got a career backup QB, no good WRs (Bowe is well on his way though) a shitty O-line decimated with retirement and two CBs that are well past their prime. Also we are starting very young inexperienced safeties...
Biggest disappointment by far are the Chargers... and maybe the Broncos yesterday. Seriously... it looks like the AFC west is in for a down year at this point.
Since 2000 the broncos have made the playoffs three times, the Chiefs twice. I don\'t see the huge disparity that you see Viper.

What\'s new though? At least every other game Grossman performs like total crap and a QB controversy happens in the media, yet Lovie Smith stands by him for some unknown reason. At this point, Smith\'s stubborn decision not to bench Grossman is only holding his team back. Sure, the back ups are great, but they are certainly better than the man starting.

I never compared them to the broncos. They havent had a qb until plummer, and hes by no means a qb to get far into the playoffs. Their d-line has been suspect for a long time now too.
this year, the d-line is the same for the most part (performance wise even though everyone\'s new) and the run D has been getting eaten alive since al wilson left/got hurt. And cutler has been doing great..until he gets to the opponents 35..i think hell be awesome when he figures out what the offense is doing wrong.
I just think the chiefs have underperformed greatly since signing surtain, when i thought they were going to start turning it around..and every year since then id start worried about the chiefs (from the broncos perspective), and theyd end up doing nothing. Cuz there was a time there, with those new/aging guys came, trent green, gonzalez, dante hall, priest holmes/LJ (mostly holmes) that they shouldve done a lot more with. Now the time is long gone

One dimensional. The teams have adjusted since last season and unlike when the Colt\'s were one dimensional, the Saints lack the talent to overcome it.

And the Pats are lookin\' more and more like an unbeatable team...i didn\'t see the whole game, but comin\' towards the end of the 4th qtr, the bengals "D" was actin\' like it was worn down, and they still had a bit of a chance to get back into the game, but the pats just marched down the field on them with predicable running plays that the bengals didn\'t even try to stop...
I mean after each play guys were just walkin\' back slow to the huttle, lookin\' around,..i understand guys are tired but if you still have a chance to win it, i would\'ve liked to have seen a little more determination from them...it just seemed like they gave up...but then when they(the pats) did score on the drive mentioned it was REALLY over with no chance of a comeback at all...
And i really hate to admit it, but even with the taping scandal surrounding the patriots, they have really handled this thing extremely well....nobody on the team talks about it, and they just go out there and play the game. Now be that as it may, it\'s going to be up to my boys to give these pats a reality check and bring them back down to earth with a "L"..:fro:....i think we play them within the next two weeks...

Quick thoughts on the MNF game...
1: Romo was pathetic, but at the same time brilliant. I\'m so torn on this one, due to the fact he had five INT\'s and a fumble, that is worse than a Rex Grossman performance. On the other hand, when it came down to it, he was able to make the clutch plays.
2: T.Owens proved one thing and that is he is the master of dropping balls. Honestly, I don\'t know what they pay the guy for. He is not a playmaker in today\'s league and I don\'t think defenses are even worried about him anymore.
3: I can\'t help but feel sorry for the Bills. They done everything to win that game and still couldn\'t pull it off. It was almost like a sick joke being played on them.
4: On the flip side, this shows just how bad the Bills offense is. If you have six turnovers and you still can\'t put more points up on the board, then there is something severely wrong.
Oh and the Cowboys have zero chance against New England.

The Cowboys have over inflated stats , due to the fact they have been playing losing teams this season. Let\'s see them go against a great team like the Colts of New England, if they win those games, then I\'ll believe that this is a team that could go somewhere.

I still don\'t know why you even wrote that. You are trying to say that maybe the Cowboy\'s defense had something to do with the lack of points that the Bills put out, but at the same time, you made make mention of the fact that the Bills don\'t have a running game and are using a rookie QB.

The defense did have something to do with it...the only time the bills really scored was off of dallas mistakes and that one punt return...other than that the dallas "D" remained aggressive throughout the whole game regardless of Romo\'s performance, I also think the way the team kept hangin\' in there for Romo *you kept seein guys talkin\' to him* kept his confidence level up a bit, but make no mistake he played like Rex Grossman times ten!
It was a full team effort...Romo made the plays when he needed to and the "D" did it\'s part as well and the thing is even when people thought that dallas was out of it, they kept on the playin\' to the very end, and that is a sign of a maturing super bowl bound team. I say maturing because While Romo is good, he still comes outta nowhere and makes rookie-like mistakes like he did last night...anytime you could win a game like that with so many turnovers, you gotta thank your defense for holdin\' them and takin\' some of that momemtum away from what was a clutch win for the bills.
And the Pats better not sleep, This is a team that defeated the undefeated colts of last year Raz, pretty impressive if you ask me,...Dallas may not be quite up there on the skill/maturity level of the Colts or Pats just yet, but they are pretty darn close.

Well that\'s your opinion Raz.
I\'m proud of my boys. They rushed Brady pretty well and gave them no running game. The reason I say we weren\'t 100% is because at the areas that caused us to lose, we were missing key players. When Glenn gets back you can expect more points, and Anthony Henry was sorely missed. With him in instead of Reeves (the joke CB of the NFL) tonight could have been completely different.

Don\'t get me wrong, the Cowboys are a fine team, I just don\'t think they have what it takes to win the big games. Granted, this is just a regular season game, but in the minds of the public and the players, this was a big game for them and they choked. You could tell they choked, because of all the careless penalties they racked up during the course of the game. A lot of those were nothing but careless mistakes, things that should never happen, especially during a home game. When that happens, you can\'t attribute the loss to the fact you\'re missing Glenn or Henry.
And when you say, "gave them no running game" are you taking into consideration two very important facts?
1: New England\'s starter, Laurence Maroney was out.
2: Even without a running game the Patriots racked up 40 + points.
So, look at that again and say it. When you say that they kept them from running the ball, you\'re just pointing out the fact that an offense used one dimension to totally dominate the Dallas Cowboys.
Quick stat check.
New England rushing yards - 75
New England Passing Yards - 373
Sure, there was not much a running game, but when you throw for almost 400 yards and are scoring , who needs to run the ball?

Well that\'s your opinion Raz.
I\'m proud of my boys. They rushed Brady pretty well and gave them no running game. The reason I say we weren\'t 100% is because at the areas that caused us to lose, we were missing key players. When Glenn gets back you can expect more points, and Anthony Henry was sorely missed. With him in instead of Reeves (the joke CB of the NFL) tonight could have been completely different.
glenn is the key to that offense. dont mind 2 talented running backs, TO, crayton, and argueably the best TE in the game

I\'m kinda late with this, but oh well...i was kinda expecting dallas to lose this one,..like Hal said, i knew they would put up a good fight, but the pats are just that much more mature and better at this point than dallas....the penalties they were makin\' were ridiculous and against the pats you just can\'t do that, every time dallas got a big play for some yards it would be called back for somebody doin\' somethin extremely stupid.
Meh I think we still could\'ve won that game, but i was kinda shocked how they were just plowin through our "D" with no real effort, it\'s like dallas gave up late in the game,..nothing like how they played to the very last second in buffalo...like i said i don\'t mind them losin to such a stellar team such as the pats, but i would like to see them beat at least some of the top ranked teams out there.

NFL buffoons leaving terrible legacy Jason Whitlock FOXSports.com, Updated 13 hours ago
You get one NFL Truth today. Watching Chad Johnson and Larry Johnson undermine their respective head coaches, Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards, on Sunday gave me a singular focus, forced me to contemplate an uncomfortable truth.
African-American football players caught up in the rebellion and buffoonery of hip hop culture have given NFL owners and coaches a justifiable reason to whiten their rosters. That will be the legacy left by Chad, Larry and Tank Johnson, Pacman Jones, Terrell Owens, Michael Vick and all the other football bojanglers. In terms of opportunity for American-born black athletes, they\'re going to leave the game in far worse shape than they found it.
It\'s already starting to happen. A little-publicized fact is that the Colts and the Patriots — the league\'s model franchises — are two of the whitest teams in the NFL. If you count rookie receiver Anthony Gonzalez, the Colts opened the season with an NFL-high 24 white players on their 53-man roster. Toss in linebacker Naivote Taulawakeiaho "Freddie" Keiaho and 47 percent of Tony Dungy\'s defending Super Bowl-champion roster is non-African-American. Bill Belichick\'s Patriots are nearly as white, boasting a 23-man non-African-American roster, counting linebacker Tiaina "Junior" Seau and backup quarterback Matt Gutierrez.
For some reason, these facts are being ignored by the mainstream media. Could you imagine what would be written and discussed by the media if the Yankees and the Red Sox were chasing World Series titles with 11 African-Americans on their 25-man rosters (45 percent)?
We would be inundated with information and analysis on the social significance. Well, trust me, what is happening with the roster of the Patriots and the Colts and with Roger Goodell\'s disciplinary crackdown are all socially significant.
Hip hop athletes are being rejected because they\'re not good for business and, most important, because they don\'t contribute to a consistent winning environment. Herm Edwards said it best: You play to win the game.
I\'m sure when we look up 10 years from now and 50 percent — rather than 70 percent — of NFL rosters are African-American, some Al Sharpton wannabe is going to blame the decline on a white-racist plot.
That bogus charge will ignore our role in our football demise. We are in the process of mishandling the opportunity and freedom earned for us by Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Doug Williams, Mike Singletary, Gale Sayers, Willie Lanier and countless others. And those of us in the media who have rationalized, minimized and racialized every misstep by Vick, Pacman and T.O. have played an equal role in blowing it.

meh...what do you expect from a guy named Jason WHITElok?...he\'s an OREO!..;)....hip-hop culture is not the problem...how much money these cats get paid is the problem...stop givin\' them so much money from the jump, and that attitude will change quick....well that and you have to enforce stiff penalties for any type of altercation they have with teammates or staff on and off the field...but to blame hip-hop for the way they are just sounds ignorant on a ridiculous level, you don\'t like hip-hop fine, but that\'s not the reason why they act the way they do.
The NFL is just like school....you have rules and regulations that everyone must abide by...and just like in school where you had blacks, whites, latinos and others attending class, if anybody got outta line they get suspended, end of story...to turn this into "uhm if the black athletes don\'t stop with their antics there\'s going to be more white teams"...is just dumb....shut the f**k up and stop seein\' s**t in black and white...if anybody acts a fool in the nfl, the nba, mlb, nhl, or whatever, they will be disciplined.
I don\'t condone any athlete acting a fool, but one thing that was directly aimed at black athletes in the nfl was the TD celebrations,...i think that is bulls**t, those celebrations really have nothing to do with the game and fans love the creativity that players come up with....now players just have to either hand the ball to the ref or celebrate for about half a second and that\'s it...

yea thats complete bullshit. How many white wide reciever\'s are there, not that many. How many white running backs, like one. The only reason "black athlete\'s are out of control\' is because they have the majority of football. If whites were the majority of football, there\'d probably be white dudes doing the same thing.
Then again football would be boring :D
Plus, there was that white o-lineman on the raiders that ON superbowl day was taken to the hospital for drugs and got arrested and what-not. But that\'s not convenient to think about for this dude.

I do agree that the "thug" mentality plays a part, but for the most part, numbers will equal statistics. If you have more of a given race, more than likely, that race will be the biggest offender. It\'s really simple.
And I\'m glad I\'m not the only one who has noticed there is maybe two white running backs. What the hell is goin\' on with that?

yea,...but is there really any good white running backs?...i know alstott (tampa bay) is good but i really haven\'t seen or heard of any.....and i don\'t mean that in an offensive way,...maybe it\'s just more white athletes aspire to the qb positions and defenisive and offensive line positions?....i think there\'s a bit more white wide receivers, but that number could be a bit more as well...i\'ve thought about it....but i thought it was mainly for the reason\'s stated...

Well, I never really like football anyway, I was holding on by a thread. It\'s too focused on individual personalities, and not the team. Plus the gameplay is too freakin slow...
And the Bills do suck moose cock, there\'s no getting around that...I haven\'t watched a single NFL game yet this season. All of the Sabres home games are in HD, however, so that is sweet.

*but one thing i did notice is that teams are able to score on the pats...and not scores of only 10 or 13,..lately it\'s been 24, 28, 27,...so it\'s still possible to score on them*

Even if the Colts lose, I think we can put to rest this NE unstoppable, as Indy has done a great job of exposing all the holes in NE. The biggest one being how arrogant they are, as you can tell by these 105 yards worth of penalties in the FIRST HALF.

This here is from an article from an editor over at espn.com on the current teams status....it\'s long but kinda funny...:p
"It\'s my contention that 13 teams are currently unwatchable. They are awful, dead-carp-on-the-shore putrid. Living in the Bay Area, subjected to the weekly gruel of the Raiders and 49ers -- test patterns with punts -- leaves me in a particularly advantageous position when it comes to judging unwatchability".
The next tier of teams consists of those with just enough redeeming qualities -- for instance, a young star such as Adrian Peterson or Marshawn Lynch -- to merit the occasional longer look:
* Team could drop into the unwatchable category at a moment\'s notice.
The next tier consists of solid, better-than-average teams with the intermittent ability to fool us into thinking they could contend with the likes of the Colts and Patriots:
Titans Giants* Steelers Lions**
*Team could elevate itself into the elite group, but there\'s something keeping us from committing at this point.
**Lions have the potential to drop two tiers, back to their traditionally unwatchable status, despite everything.
The four remaining teams will play off to decide the AFC and NFC titles:
Colts Patriots Packers Cowboys
Lucky for the NFL, these teams fulfill all the requirements for keeping alive the myth of the league\'s infallibility -- marketable quarterbacks, history and just enough sociopathic elements to make the kids want to stay up and watch.

Random Thoughts on the NFL::
I\'ll laugh my ass off if Grossman gets back his starter job after being benched. It looks like Griese has a shoulder injury and Grossman did rally the Bears this weekend.
While on the topic of QB\'s and being benched - I see ESPN has a headline that says Mcnair may be benched due to shoulder. Shouldn\'t it read that Mcnair may be benched due to poor play? I mean come on, you know the Raven\'s are sitting there and cussing under their breath for picking up a QB who has been beaten to death during his career.
As long as T.O is part of Dallas, I refuse to support them in any manner. Fact is, if they would get rid of him, I\'d love to see them make it somewhere, but as long as that jackass is part of the roster, I can\'t stomach them. He\'s a parasite that should be elminated from the NFL.
On the Colts front, it doesn\'t look good. They had seven starters out lastnight and now they have even more hurt. Sure a few of those may be back by next week, but it looks like Harrison won\'t and Freeney is doubtful. Only bright side is they picked up Rice from Denver, but I would question how productive he can be for the team, after coming off a shoulder surgery. On an actual good note, the Colts are going to play the Chiefs Sunday and the Chiefs will be starting a new QB. Should be an easy win to get their feet back under them.
Speaking of KC, did anyone actually think that Haurd could be a starting QB? The man was a career backup for a good reason... He sucked. Granted, Trent Green wasn\'t exactly stellar and this Croyle boy doesn\'t give KC fans much hope, but come on, I would of thought that KC would of TRIED to pick someone up other than just giving Haurd the starter job. What a wasted season. Here is an idea for KC during the offseason, trade up, get a damn good draft pick and get a QB. They held onto Trent Green for way too long and never looked towards the future and now they\'ve screwed themselves over in the QB position.
Oh and one more thing. Anyone want to take a bet that Miami does go 0-16? Hell, I\'d wager to beat they go 0-16 and then make a useless draft choice. It\'s just Miami style, baby.

The reason im not that worried about indy is because it was only their special teams that let them down. Granted manning had a horrific game, but it\'s safe to assume he\'s not going to be throwing 6 int\'s again any time soon. And even though the coach sucks, containing gates, LT, and chambers the way they did was impressive.
The fact that the guys that were on special teams aren\'t because they\'re now the ones playing and cant afford getting hurt is what\'s killing them. Sproles is fast...that\'s it. He doesn\'t juke, so if you suck at special teams and take a bad angle, he\'s gone. But that seems easier to correct than offense or defense

I\'ll continue to be worried about INDY as long as they have enough starters hurt that causes them to huddle. I mean, when is the last time you seen Indy huddle up? It was painfully obvious that the team was out of sync, due to the simple fact they was missing key players. This hurt them more on the offensive side, obviously (look at Manning\'s 6 INT\'s). But still, if they don\'t get the players healthy and keep them healthy, they can kiss a good postseason goodbye.

yea, i definitly know what you mean. Im just annoyed with how much the broncos are lagging because of their injuries, while the colts can still beat the chargers (they shouldve..). Their offense had so much potential, but they cant do sh*t to get in the endzone...
and i have no hope for their D-line. Dumervil is the only one doing anything, but that\'s only pass rushing. Their LB\'s are there for pass defense and sweeps, not really up the middle runs, which they leave up to the d-line to do most of the damage...tried bringing in veterans, failed..tried drafting like 50 d-line rookies, failed.

No excuses here, they played piss poor the 5th Quarter against NE and deserved to win. The game against SD was another thing altogether tho\'. The team was riddled with injuries and was obviously struggling and still managed to come back on SD.

All the rooting in the world can\'t change the fact that Rex is a total bust in the NFL. One could hope that the Bears drop his contract (along with Lovie Smith\'s, who has shown he is also a bust, simply by letting the Bears get this far out of control).
Hated to see Dallas win, but glad Washington at least gave them a run for their money.

Lovie Smith is a huge part of the reason why the bears went from a joke of the league to the superbowl.
But rex is definitly way too on/off to get anywhere in the league. But they\'ll more than likely adress that problem in the offseason. And the defense has been plagued with injuries

Yeah I don\'t want him in but you just never hear about him, does he suck that much? Maybe this year they\'ll sign an okay QB and why they ever got rid of their RB Tommie Jones I\'ll never figure out...shit I\'d rather see them use Garret Wolfe, he seems a lot faster than Benson or Peterson.

I have a feeling you\'ll be seeing Orton before the end of the year.
He had to start his rookie year. He played like a rookie... What can you say?
That was three years ago. People forget that Orton was a Heisman candidate in college, and was going to be a first round pick until he hurt his shoulder in his senior year.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on November 18, 2007, 05:46:26 PM
me either man..at least with jones it was only their passing game struggling but now it\'s everything.
all kyle orton did was go 3 and out..and MAYBE get a touchdown every couple games. But at this rate theyll be lined up to get the second best qb in the draft since all the other crappy teams have a young qb..miami will get the best..i doubt the jets will unless the guy that\'s playing now blows the rest of the season
edit: throw out the rookie arguement, lol. All the current qb\'s that have been horrible as rookies have been horrible ever since. Everyone brings up elway but..no. Tavarus jackson sucks, boller sucks, lemon sucks, orton sucks, leinart etc etc
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Luke on November 18, 2007, 06:46:30 PM
Are you kidding? Your saying that if a quarterback sucks as a rookie, he always sucks?
Like I said... He hasn\'t played one snap since he was a rookie THREE YEARS AGO!
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on November 18, 2007, 07:13:29 PM
I won\'t say that every single qb that sucks as a rookie always sucks, but c\'mon..you can tell which ones dont have it..and orton doesn\'t have it. The ones that always suck are in the majority right now, so the odds are againts him as well.
edit: i guess ill list out my examples instead of just claiming something... losman, the dolphins many tries, boller, carr, orton, grossman, harrington, jackson, leinart, alex smith. And that\'s the very recent..there\'s probably more but i cant think of them off the top of my head.
The ones that turned out good, were good/showed promise from the beginning. manning, brady, palmer, roethlis..garrard even showed promise as a backup and is working out as a starter..now im just getting lazy but you get my point
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Luke on November 18, 2007, 07:31:27 PM
I\'m not even going to bother to show all the stats that prove it, but judging a quarterback by his rookie season is completely asinine.
I\'m not saying Orton is gonna be great, or even good, I\'m just saying you can\'t take a college QB, play them nine games their rookie year and say he sucks.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on November 18, 2007, 07:34:32 PM
I already know im not going to beat you..my dad\'s from chicago, is a bears fan, and wants orton to play..i know how the arguement goes
orton will not amount to anything in the nfl, and didnt show an ounce of not sucking in his 9 starts. He shouldn\'t even be an option for bears fans. Theyll be better off with griese and grossman till they get a new qb

It\'s funny if the Bears D didn\'t have so many injuries they might actually have won a few more games by now. The Bears offense sucks so bad its not even funny. Well Carson Palmer had a shitty year as a rookie :P Look at him now :) I think what Viper is trying to say is you can just tell if a quarterback has it, it just doesn\'t one day click aka Ryan Leaf. Now I know there are the rare few that it may happen for them, look at Romo, his first few games he played in he just fking blew big Tuna balls, but look at him now.

I think Rex has proven he isn\'t a NFL QB. He proved that last season with his throw away Green Bay game. No quarterback in the NFL should perform like that and then, as an excuse say they had other things on their mind, other than the game. He proved right then, he isn\'t able to lead a team.

In other news i didn\'t see the pats/eagles game *i thought that they were gonna get smashed* but i was shocked to see them give the pats a run for their money...the broncos bears game?...that pass by grossman to that T.E. i think it was on O.T. sealed it...i\'m not gonna take anything away from special teams, cause that\'s an aspect of the game you have to prep for like any other play....but i wouldn\'t savior the win for the bears, they are only delaying the inevitable, grossman still looks nervous in the pocket,...and the "D" hasn\'t been playin to their full potential either...
Finally dolphins/steelers....the mud bowl,..no score until the final 17 seconds of the 4th qtr? and it was a field goal at that!...:D...it was a really rough day tho for both teams with the muddy and distraught turf...

Had Farve played longer, the Packers wouldn\'t of had a chance. He simply is way too careless with the ball. Aaron Rogers done an excellent job, coming in and keeping Green bay in the game. In fact, it wasn\'t so much Dallas that beat Green Bay, it was their own defense that was a total failure on any 3rd and long situations.
I think if anything came out of that game, it\'s the fact that the Packers do have a future after Farve and maybe it\'s time they embrace that future, much like Dallas did with Romo. Farve isn\'t mobile enough and his gunslinging is way too risky in today\'s NFL .
Btw, NFL.Com was airing the game and there was plenty of Sopcast streams. I watched it online, but I do plan on just breaking down and getting Dish satellite so I can enjoy the NFL network and some HD channels.

at 10-2, when favre was won many of those games, you think its smart to replace him? he\'s always played like this, and most of the dome games he plays poorly.
they definitly would have gotten beaten pretty badly with the way favre was just tossing the ball into double coverage, but that doesnt mean he should all of a sudden have his job in jeopardy.
they need charles woodson to get healthy..i said many weeks ago that their success on D would depend on his health.

I\'m not saying bench Farve, I am saying that if he can\'t come back this season, then maybe it\'s time for the Packers to truly embrace Aaron Rodgers. As it is, every offseason we have to hear about if the Farve is going to come back or not, at some point, I think they need to just say "hey, he\'s in his 14th year, we need to move on". Let him finish this season, if he can, but if he can\'t, I don\'t think they are really losing anything.
I tend to think of Farve as that girlfriend who won\'t go away and you keep her around simply because of the time you\'ve spent with her. Yeah, at moments she is brilliant and you remember why you\'re still with her, but in reality, if you decide to move on, you can do better.

If the Cowboys make it to the Superbowl they will probably fall to the Dallas team\'s curse!
Even the Arena Football team choked didn\'t they? They were defeated by the LAST place team on the playoffs(kinda like the Mavs) and it was historic I believe the headlines said.
As far as last night wins, it was a good game. The Cowboys D put up a good game and Demarcus Ware saved the game with that fourth quarter sack after Al Harris\' interceptions. Nevertheless, I still think that come playoff time if neither of the teams choke and the Pack have to come back to Dallas, if they have a full healthy D with KGB and Woodson back this will be a totally different game. Just Woodson alone could have alleviated some of the pressure that Bush(who proved his worthlesness(sp)) put on Al Harris\' shoulders by being UNABLE(RAPED?) from the line of scrimmage by just about any guy that they put in front of him! I can\'t tell you how many times Al Harris had to pull of his man or looked over at Bush to make sure he was on his man!
That\'s what happend in the second TO touchdown. I saw Harris look over for a split second and thats when TO beat him at the slant.
But a win is a win but to say Favre lost again at Texas Stadium? Hardly. His cool would of helped in the Fourth Quarter.
Until then, Dallas can rest at peace. Unless Feeley goes to play

3 different times, they got to the red zone within 5 yards. Instead of running, he called them to throw. All for incompletions. Finally, they did run it in and get a TD. Then Joe Gibbs calls a time out to ice the kicker with 16 seconds left from 51 yards away....light rain. Fine. Ice the kicker.
Then they form to kick again.
Gibbs calls TIME OUT A SECOND TIME!
YOU CAN\'T DO THAT! 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct. Pooch kick and the game is over, 17 Bills - 16 Redskins.

Unreal. I swear they have sold their sold to the devil. However, if they play this bad against the Steelers or anyone in the playoffs, they will get stomped. The last two games have really shown a different team. They went from blowing teams out, to being behind in both games, not only being behind, but being behind to average teams (both starting backup QB\'s). At this point, the only thing keeping them in the game is the fact tht Brady is cool as ice under pressure.

i only saw like 5 minutes of the game, but from what i saw i was relatively impressed with boller. I saw that int in the endzone that was horrible but..have to kind of expect that from him. They definitly need to keep mcnair as the backup and help teach boller...i dont think boller had anyone when he was thrown to the wolves when he was first in the league

Pooch kick and the game is over, 17 Bills - 16 Redskins.
ionly saw the last quarter and I thought it was funny. I also heard the skins sent only 10 men out there on the first play, leaving Taylor\'s pos. empty. The bills gained 22 yds on that play. I think they expected them to take a knee or something. I can see doing that if the bills were 12-3 or something, but every game counts. Besides, bellicheck would have thrown the long ball to that side for a TD. ;)
also, Lindell made the 51 yd kick anyway, I believe...

And with that, the Bears have zero chance of a wild card berth. The season is over for them.

skins are probably done too. too many times i\'ve seen backup qb\'s come in, do suprisingly well, and then fall apart the next week because the D got to prepare for them, and cambell\'s done for the year. Plus their schedule is a bitch.

I think it\'s kinda harsh....gimmie a break it\'s only dog-fightin\'....even tho vick\'s results came back positive for weed(he\'s a f**kin\' idiot for doin\' that) i still think this judge was bein\' an asshole....the local court in VA already wants to sue him for millions on top of the already federal charges,..they\'re actin\' like this dude commited murder or some s**t,...they totally ignored all of the good things he\'s done in his community and for kids in general....yea, it was wrong what he did but they are goin\' overboard with it...
As far as the steelers go?...whelp it just seemed like the pats was just playin\' around with them until the second half...it just seemed like that with every play they completed a pass at will....but there were two things of interest in the game...
1 - That play when Tom Brady threw the ball to Randy Moss and he dropped it, then picked it back up and threw it back to tom brady?.....wasn\'t that supposed to be a dead play?.....
2 - When the pats were well ahead in the 4th and with time winding down and on 3rd down they chose to pass instead of running down the clock,....i understand tryin\' to run up the points in certain situations, but the pats do it every single game,...ok we know you have the best team in the nfl ,..no need to rub it in...i hate the pats, and moreso that asshole of a coach....

There has been plenty of questionable plays / calls for NE this season, so I just add this one to that list.
As for running up the score, they\'ve been doing it all season, no reason to stop now. If anything, they had a reason to lastnight. It does amaze me how they went from America\'s humble team to what they are now. A team that runs up the score that almost no one likes.

It\'s absurd to think they\'re going overboard with it. I\'m not even an animal person and the ways he treated these animals is disgusting. Watch some videos of the stuff they do to these animals then talk. 23 months is far from acting like he committed murder, seriously. Not to mention the fact that he could have got a much shorter sentence if he plead earlier or met them halfway on any information. He kept lying and thought he was untouchable so he had it coming.
As for suing him for millions, they\'re just basing it off of the man hours to clean the situation up and the upkeep for all the leftover dogs off of his properties. Once again, he had it coming.
I\'d like to hear what you think would have been a proper sentence.

You have to remember that ball was thrown a couple yards behind the line of scrimmage, when moss dropped that ball it was a fumble, the steelers could\'ve picked it up and run it back for a touchdown.
Too be honest, I actually thought this was one game where they weren\'t too bad with running up the score. I mean they actually did kick a FG. Instead of running the ball, they did little short passes to welker that served the same purpose.
Yeah it\'s not pretty, they\'re not likable, the coach is the biggest asshole on the planet... but they win so... I guess you have to be happy with something. Plus the NFL is getting great better ratings now than ever.

Oh please, people kill animals everyday for food consumption... some even kill for sport...i know alot of people that have a deershead hangin on their wall...animal cruelty?...it sure is..those deers that get shot with those arrows? alot of times it isn\'t instant death,..they suffer and bleed to death, but because it\'s legal at certain times of the year it\'s ok and nobody says anything about it....regardless if it\'s used to control the deer population,...if you feel sorry for animals then it should be across the board.
Now with that said i have heard the reports of vick not being straight foward with the the owner of the falcons, the prosecuters, and even the judge,..it\'s true they gave him a chance to come clean and therefore he would\'ve gotten a lighter sentence and he didn\'t,...so i have to retract some of my earlier comments.... he\'s a f**kin\' idiot for doin\' that and now he\'s made his bed and now he\'s has to man-up with "Bubba" in jail and lie in it.

There\'s a law about cruelty to animals. Vick borked them.

One is a domesticated animal while the other is wild. It\'s been that way for a long time in this country and makes things much different. Not to mention the fact that they torture these animals and force them to fight as opposed to just killing them. And lastly, it\'s the law. They didn\'t do this thinking it was legal. I\'m sorry the laws aren\'t bent around a certain cultures view on things.
I could name a bunch more reasons on why hunting is much much different from dog fighting, on top of population control, if you\'d like. Oh, and, what is your view on all of this? Should dog fighting be legal?

Shooting an animal and eating it for dinner = OKAY.
Torturing animals so that they become fighters and when they fail to fight, hanging or drowning them = NOT OKAY.

Every time I hear this, I seriously lose my temper a bit.
Dog breeds do have certain unique qualities about them...but you can raise and train them to be loving animals. Pit Bulls used to be the most popular breed before the 1940\'s.
Did you know the RCA dog was a pit? Little Rascal\'s dog was a Pit? The mascot for Hush Puppies - a pit. The most decorated military dog for saving an entire platoon - pit (WWI).

Mike Vick\'s letter to the judge was hilarious... He keeps saying in it that he\'d "never been convicted of a crime until now..." that just meant he hasn\'t been caught. Also, he said that when he was growing up he knew that guns & drugs were bad, and could land you in jail, but not dogfighting. you think that maybe the guys with guns & drugs were doing the dogfighting might have tipped him off...

Well, not really. Look at all the DROPPED passes. It\'s hard to win a game when you throw the ball and they just drop it.

I agree with you there, but most of the dropped passes were because they were horribly placed passes, behind the receiver was a common theme, the wind didn\'t help, but Eli didn\'t help they should have been throwing 5-10 yard passes to set up the long throws with that wind.

There was no excuse for Jacob\'s play. He can run the ball, but he was dropping every pass that came his way.
Eli didn\'t help, I agree, but I\'d love to see Eli on a team that didn\'t self destruct. He would never be an elite QB, but I think he\'d fare a lot better than he is right now.

I don\'t know about that I think he\'d be a better Qb outside of New York, he just doesn\'t have the skin to take all the bad press from NYC. He gives you that dumb look after he\'s done something wrong like a kid, it has been 4-5 years and he has not matured like he should by now. I mean if you look at his numbers he is terrible, the one I saw Jacob drop Eli had thrown a dart at him and he was 3 yards away, why would you throw a fking dart when you are not that far???

Jacob\'s had around three or so drops, that I remember. Madden even made a comment about it. Not to mention the fumble that he had.
Eli will never be great, but I don\'t think he has the team to really support him. I mean, look at the Giants. They\'ve been self destructive the last two years and it starts in the locker room. Coughlin lost that team for being to hard on them and now he lost them because he isn\'t hard enough on them.
Then again, you\'re talking to someone who doesn\'t think Tiki Barber was all that great. He spent way too many years fumbling the ball away. Sure, he was a great player for the Giants , but his first few years was a complete waste.
Back to Eli, I remember reading a S.I article last year about the Manning family and it mentioned how Eli had no interest in football growing up and didn\'t decide until highschool that he was interested in the game and I think it shows. He\'ll never reach Peyton\'s level.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!

Then he should retire now, I don\'t want someone with the desire of a cow to be leading my team. The giants have not imploded, and the Giants have weapons, Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer aren\'t the greatest, but they are a good pair of WR\'s along with Shockey who is under utilized(Coughlin\'s fault). The giants have injury problems every year it seems the locker room has been fine this year and Coughlin won the team back after the baby(Barber) left he\'s lightened up and the players actually seem to like him now. If you put Brady/Manning/Favre on the Giants team they are a championship quality team, you put Eli on Brady/Manning/Favres team and they get booted out of the first round of the playoffs every year.

if that\'s how green bay\'s special teams plays in bad weather, i think it benefits them to play in dallas instead of in lambeu during the winter.
browns wil probably lose, in a big game too. was hoping they\'d be able to do more than losing in the first round but i doubt it (if they get in).
go jaguars or packers...or vikings

The giants have not imploded,
Honestly, how can you sit there and say that? Look at their second half season record the last few years. They implode every single time.
Browns are making the most of this game. Good luck to them.
As for "go Jaguars". If the Jaguars make it to the big game, it will be the first I won\'t watch in the last few years. I cannot stand the sight of Jack Del Rio.
Giants win. Wanna make a bet they lose first post season game? :)
Browns lose, but they took it down to the wire. Kudos to them for a great system (by Browns standards).

Had the giants played like this last week they would have won, they should have ran the ball 70/30 last week much like they did this week. Almost 300 yards on the ground today, they do that they can at least win the first game in the playoffs. They may not be a super bowl caliber team but they would be the the only other team in the playoffs this year for the nfc besides the seahawks that have been in the postseason the past 3 years. Thats coming out of a pretty good NFC East division. Cleveland blew a great opportunity, they need to go out next week and win and hope that the Titans lose.

Tod Collins of the Redskins is similar to Tommy Maddox of the Steelers. Only he got it coz the starting QB got hurt, while Tommy was in to replace the suck that was Kordell Stewart.
And both are doing quite well. And both will choke sooner than later.
And Clinton Portis. What the hell?

If anyone taking shit about Vick would do any research on the whole indictment they will find out. That from 2001-April 2007 they claim Vick did not kill any dogs. Then one month leading up until the police were hot on his cousins he decided to kills dogs? Give me a damn break. In anything that is being bankrolled by person you never hear of the person bankrolling the operation doing the dirty work. Because they don\'t shit just doesn\'t happen like that.
Vick was not running it and never at the property. His cousins and friends were living at that property running that organization starving the dogs and do god knows what. His stupid cousin who was selling drugs that led to the whole thing being exposed. They got busted and all turned on Vick. Thats why those guys only got two months. They had fed drug charges and basicly got off scott free.
Sure he played a part but too put all the blame on him was bull. His friends betrayed him and he played himself taking care of people who did not have his back. People need to stop feeding off the media.

I don\'t care that the Giants lost, I really wanted them to win it, but what I really liked was the Eli played well, defense made 2 mistakes in the second half that really turned the momentum to the Patriots. I wouldn\'t say the Giants choked, cuz if the Giants choked then so did your Colts.

I think the bye week will do them a lot of good. They have a veteran defense that started showing their age in my opinion. They have looked quite tired the past couple weeks. They are still top 3 in points allowed though.

the g-men played well, but that 1st series from them after halftime when they had a small lead just seemed like they were bein a bit conservative,...and that is somethin\' you can\'t do with the pats, i was rootin\' for them, but the pats just continue to find ways to win...now the pressure for them will be to win the big one...the superbowl, but it seems this teams handles pressure extremely well...we\'ll see what happens...
Dallas on the other hand is makin\' me feel nervous for some reason, in order for us to win,..romo has got to be on point, cause let\'s face it, when romo is hot the team is near unstoppable but when he\'s bad he\'s really bad...i hope we can get that deep playoff surge and play in the superbowl.

Except the fact that when they needed to, they made the big plays. They looked a lot like the Patriots lastnight, they stayed calm and kept the game within reach and just made the right plays at the right time. I expect the NE and Jag game to be a great one, the only thing that will hurt the Jags is that idiot of a coach, Jack Del Rio.

Glad to see the Chargers knock off the Titans. Hell, they wouldn\'t of been in the playoffs had Dungy not given them the last game. Not to mention, I didn\'t want to see the Titans go to New England. At least the Jags can make it a game, where as the Titans would of just been there to get their collective ass kicked.

Unfortunately all coaches are at the mercy of their respective coaches in the booth that are watching the game from there and on TV... If the guy in the booth says challenge it we have a chance then they challenge it, so it wasn\'t totally Del Rio\'s call there, unless they showed it on the jumbo screen...
I\'m glad the Steelers lost as I don\'t think they would have a shot in hell against the Patriots in NE, Jags have the style of football to win, which is run 60% of the game move the chains and keep Brady and the gang off the field cuz if you can do that and score you have a decent chance at winning the game. Plus they have a better defence than the banged up Steelers especially in the secondary.

Tru no doubt...i can\'t see the chargers upsettin\' the colts either,...the colts have always played extremely well in the playoffs,...as far as dallas goes,...i agree with what LIC stated to a point in that dallas is coasting along..but i think that they only did that once they found out that they had a first round bye and were in the playoffs,...in all honesty the gmen are playin\' some really great football right now.
I think the only thing we need to do offensively is to have a good running game.. barber/jones and we also need romo to have an error free day, maybe not error free, but don\'t make any costly mistakes... and if we can rattle eli early, he\'ll be prone to have bad game all day, but if we don\'t get any type of pressure on him, and if he gets hot, it\'ll be a very long day for us...
I\'m convinced the pats are going to take care of the jags, but it won\'t be a walk in the park...it\'s going to come down to the colts/pats in the afc championship again and if it does, and if the colts win again, we\'ll see if belichick and brady turn into the assholes they became when they lost last year by just running off the field like little girls.....
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!

my main thing about dallas is TO..i dont think he\'s going to play till maybe next week, or the superbowl (if they can get there), and even though i hate his personality, i dont think he\'s overrated like a bunch of people think. I even think he\'s better than moss, even though the stats dont say that..moss just gets more 60 yard plays than owens.
without owens teams can concentrate more on witten on the passing game, who\'s more of a threat than TO, even when TO\'s in the game

No they didn\'t. Romo hit players in their chest and they dropped it. Patrick Crayton.... god. They made big plays that got called back on penalty.
Don\'t get me wrong, the giants deserved it for that reason. They played error free the whole game. I just think the cowboys had a lot more talent, but less brains.

The Cowboys have ALWAYS been droppers. That\'s who they are as a team. No reason it\'d be any different under the playoff lights.
Dropping a pass is no more beating yourself than blowing a coverage or blocking assignment.
And I\'d readily dispute that more talent claim.
Plus the Giants were playing much more banged up than the Cowboys, missing their starting CB\'s, Shockey, etc.

i couldn\'t agree more..stupid penalties...dropped passes...i can deal with some of those dropped passes but that one by crayton?...that was touchdown..and the penalties?..every time dallas got a big play, some idiot did something disasterously stupid to get it called back...dallas had more talent tru-enough but every time they got momentum some idiot would take it back from them...dallas beat themselves this game...if they played an error free game like the gmen did, they would\'ve won this game...

Giants fking won that is the bottom line, TO\'s crying Romo the Homo can go back to banging Jessica Simpson in Cabo while Eli and the boys make a trip up to the Frozen Tundra for a chance to make the Super Bowl. And anyone that is ruling the Giants out against the Packers as I\'ve seen on TV are fools.
The drop that Crayton had was a catchable throw all be it not a perfect throw because he was being pressured, and other than the TD catch by TO the rest of the game he was not a factor, he was shut down by RW McQuarters, man how embarassing I\'d be crying after the game too if I got shut down by 3rd string nickle back. T.O. was injured...glenn wasn\'t 100% either....i know penalties and dropped passes are part of the game...but take away the penalties and dallas wins it\'s as simple as that...the giants created some pressure for romo late in the game, but again if you take away the penalties dallas wins this game,..they beat themselves..it had nothing to do with the gmen...because even after the dropped passes and whatnot,..it was the PENALTIES that killed dallas...not pressure from the gmen "D" at all....
I gave credit to the gmen..they played basically an error free game...they won because dallas made more penalties and beat themselves, they didn\'t win because of anything major that the giants did...it\'s hard to win when you have 3rd and 4 situations turn into 3rd and 24 because of dumb penalties...

You are contradicting your self, if the Giants played an error free game and Dallas did not then in the end the Giants deserved to win, I mean the Giants out played the Cowboys in special teams, of course that will go over looked but that was the key to the Giants win. To say Dallas beat themselves and then turn around and give the Giants credit is contradicting yourself Clips.

How is that contradicting myself?....we created penalties that hurt us,..which had nothing to do with how the giants played....if both teams went back forth scoring touchdowns or stopping each-other or if somebody made a key INT or big play down the stretch, then I would say, "yo, that was a great a game, and both teams played hard, but the gmen made the big plays when they needed them in the end"...<--- but that was not the case....penalties hurt them...false starts, that grounding play on romo, holding, unnecessary roughness on strahan? and others just killed them..
And i guess i\'m not suppose to praise the gmen for not makin\' mistakes? they are a good ball club, and earlier in the thread i popped some s**t regardin\' this game but in all honesty i knew the gmen were comin\' off a pair of strong wins...they were amped....if the giants created turnovers, caused Int\'s or played tough football all around then i\'d give them a little more praise...anybody that saw the game knew that dallas beat themselves...
Don\'t worry LIC,..manning and crew are sittin\' together side-by side with dallas exchangin\' kleenex tissues...:D

So it\'s the Giants fault that the Cowboys had penalties? The Giants also capatilized on most of those penalties like going down and scoring right before half to tie the game.
No big plays down the stretch? What about that interception in the end zone to win the game? Or what about the punt return and kick returns that gave the Giants great field position all day long? These were all keys to the Giants winning, the Giants won the football game and deservedly so.
Unlike the Cowboys the Giants have won a couple playoff games in the past 12 years, hell they went to a Super Bowl too, what have the Cowboys done lately other than go 13-3 and lose playoff games?

I think MJ\'s point is the fact that not having these penalties are part of the game. If you have them, they you are simply not performing at the same level of your opponent. Not to mention, you and Vivi seem to be taking away a lot from the Giants. They are the second best road team in the NFL (behind the undefeated Pats). They went to Tampa and won and then , they went, without a week off and played Dallas and won, at Dallas.
At the end of the game, which QB threw the INT? At the end of the game, who was dropping passes? At the end of the game, which team occurred to most costly penalties?
Hell, look at the last two possessions Dallas had. They had the ball at mid-field and every single time failed to do anything with it. The Giants had plenty of pressure on Romo and when he did get the ball off, his receivers were dropping it.
But yea, Dallas beat themselves.
Quote
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT T. Romo 18/36 201 5.6 1 1
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT E. Manning 12/18 163 9.1 2 0
Which QB had the better game? The one who threw a lot of balls but didn\'t complete most? The one who threw the INT and one touchdown? Or was it the other one? ;)
And this will kill any team.
Quote
Giants / Dallas Penalties 3-25 11-84
What is even more amazing is the fact that here are Romo\'s stats for last few games.
Quote
Romo completed 51.1 percent of his passes and threw one touchdown and five interceptions. In his previous 13, he completed 67.4 percent of his passes and threw 35 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Anyone remember that? Everyone said Dallas simply was sucking because they had no motivation, due to the fact they had secured the 1st in the NFC. Doesn\'t appear to be so true now.
As for the Colts, this is yet another classic example of Dungy playing it way too safe. Manning and the crew had not played in three weeks and once again, it shows how rusty a team can get in that time. And Harrison may as well retire. He missed almost this whole season and didn\'t do much for us during the playoffs. I think it\'s becoming obvious that he has lost that drive he once had for the game. I hope I\'m wrong, but I doubt it.

I think Harrison is done for good, I don\'t think its the drive I think its the fact that his knee is not healthy even after taking that much time to rehab, at 35 for him to have surgery and be out another year may not be worth it, and to Manning the combination of Gonzo and Wayne is a pretty good one if you ask me. I think the fact that the Colts were beat up on defense although a lot of people fail to mention Freeny was out and there front 4 were basically never the same without him. Bob Sanders is great for stopping the run and delivering big hits but if you give Qb\'s in the NFL time in the pocket you are giving them what they want.

Lic/MJ....i don\'t know how to say it any clearer...everything you guys stated is true..i\'ll even roll with "the giants capitalized on dallas penalties" but as far as them defeating us straight up"?..nope...that interception at the end?..again what lead to us being\' in that situation?...shortly before that we would\'ve had a 1st down at the giants 22, but because of a dumb penalty (i forget what it was) we were put back like ten yards or somethin\'...so the gmen just played deep zone from there on out...
Regardless of the field position the gmen had, or great play by the special teams, we were still in it until that last drive and WE shot ourselves in the foot, because of penalties,..not because of anything the giants did....
I will say the giants did deserve the win..any team that plays the way dallas did, deserve to lose....

Dallas played the way they did because the Giants made them play that way. I will never understand how people can\'t realize that good defenses make offenses make mistakes. People drop passes cause they\'ve been getting hit hard and hear footsteps. People false start cause they\'re afraid of the rush. If Romo grounds it, it\'s because the rush is getting to him and everyone is covered. If Dallas made mistakes, the Giants helped cause them. Good defenses make offenses make mistakes. If any offense isn\'t making mistakes, they\'d score on anyone. The job of a pass rush is to pressure people into making mistakes because they don\'t have the time to think and react properly, or they hits get to them, or they fear the rush. If people are dropping a lot, it\'s often cause they\'re getting hammered in the secondary (or in the Cowboys case, also because their players are droppers). That is how defenses work. They force mistakes out of the offenses. Saying the Giants didn\'t help cause those Cowboys mistakes just shows you\'re only looking at half the game.
And the Giants were less healthy than the Cowboys. Sure your top two WR\'s were playing hurt, but for most of the game, our top two CB\'s weren\'t playing AT ALL. That should more than even out.

They were not harrassin\' romo all day... yea they got some pressure late in the game, but it wasn\'t like "wow romo is gettin hit and hammered all day long"....the giants basically didn\'t have to do anything,...in key 3rd down situations somebody ended up doin\' somethin\' stupid and the gmen capitalized on it,...not because of pressure and not because of costly INT\'s again i know that they are part of the game, but dallas did it to themselves,...not because the giants did it....and i said wasn\'t gonna repeat myself again.....oh well...

Everyone knows in the NFL it is very difficult to defeat a team 3 times in a season, especially since that team is typically within your division, you guys act like the Giants are a team of slouches. The Giants came a hell of a lot closer to beating the Patriots compared to the Cowboys and nearly any other team except the Eagles and Ravens.
And as I stated before anyone not giving the Giants a chance against the Packers obviously haven\'t been watching any of the Giants games the past few weeks.

On the flip-side of that i\'ve always liked brett...that guy is a class act...his team could be down 42-7 and he\'ll sometimes find ways to beat you with his gunslinger attitude (tho sometimes that can hurt him and his team)....and come this sunday i feel the gmen are just gonna blitz the s**t out of him...brett isn\'t agile or mobile at all and if you could mess up his rythm, i see the packs struggling a bit, well that is if the gmen shut down the decent running game the packers finally have....still i see the giants winnin\' this one...

Nah. The Giants gave the Pats all the wanted this last time. I still would preffered a Indy / Packers game, but it didn\'t happen. Go Giants!:thumb:

Pats-Packers would have been a better story. However, get ready for an exciting game. On that field, in that weather, New England will score early and often. It\'ll be interesting to see if the Giants can keep pace. I won\'t right them off, but I better not hear any trash talk from their fans.

I think a lot of the nation will have a built in rooting interest, since most people either hate the Pats, or want to see them make history.
But yeah, Giants in the Super Bowl. Unbelievable!
I think they have the type of team that can match up well against the Pats with their defensive schemes and great pass rush. Their defense completely dominated the Packers for almost the entire game yesterday. So we\'ll see what happens.

I\'m glad the giants won, any team that beats mine I cheer for to win it all.
I said from the beginning, I think a rematch of the last game of the season should scare the Pats.

I like how much the Giants improved now that Eli does not need to put up with Shockey\'s big ego. If I was them, I\'d look at how they are performing now and just drop his ass next chance. Honestly, last couple games, has anyone said, "sure would be nice to have Shockey now"? Yea, didn\'t think so.
I still give this win to the Pats tho\'. Something about the stars aligning and Satan himself handing the trophy over to the Pats.

thats a good point. I\'d trade him for a draft pick or something so they can get a DE to replace Strahan. I cant see how this season wouldnt make him want to play more but i doubt it

Considering Strahan had the 3rd most sacks of the DE\'s on the team this year, I\'d say that pick\'s better spent going for a linebacker or safety.
Title: NFL! Let\'s hear the trash talk!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on January 21, 2008, 07:56:14 PM
considering strahan keeps talking about wanting to retire, it could be soon enough to warrent trading shockey while his stock is still high and you can replace a top DE with a good replacement..

Picking up a DE would be a moot point with Tuck who is basically a DE and Kiuwanuka when he is healthy is a DE as well would be useless, they could easily afford to use it for a LB or a better piece in the secondary.

I\'d still rather see Cowboys/Pats....but whatev....the giants shut down the Packers in that 2nd half...they couldn\'t move the ball, and even got a couple of turnovers but couldn\'t capitalize on them...both teams played hard under brutal conditions,...congrats to tha gmen...i\'ll be rootin\' for them to take that undefated title away from the pats...

Eli isn\'t expected to win this game. Unless he just completely drops the ball (and even then) his other playoff performances have already showed plenty. Of course, game one against NE was his highest rated game of the year, and that was in the cold and wind...much worse conditions than he\'ll have in Glendale. He also has showed he likes the big stage...his 3 best games of the year were the Dallas and TB playoff games and the NE game. I don\'t expect him to suck at all.

Yea i agree...as much as i hate the gmen...i gotta admit this will be one of those rare ocassions(spel) where i\'ll actually be rootin\' for them....but again i\'ve really liked the way eli matured into the qb he is,...cause i remember when he first started, and i honestly thought that he was gonna tank...i mean he looked ratteled and confused on the field,...but one year later he showed almost a 100% turn around...so i gotta give it up to him for that...i hate shockey tho,..he\'s a f**kin\' crybaby....i\'m not too big on strahan either....he needs to get his f**kin\' grill fixed....

Eli\'s biggest problem is the fact he has so many drama queens in the huddle and the fact that the NY market loves him one week and hates him the next. Put him in a more stable enviroment and he\'d become a decent QB. Not Brady or Peyton calibur, but he a solid QB who doesn\'t stay rattled and force passes.

Which is why I really think that, though he\'s a good player, it\'s no coincidence that Eli finally took that next step while Shockey was hurt. Who else is a drama queen in that huddle?

You are 100% right and if he throws 3 int and has no touchdowns vs the pats watch all the people on the bandwaggon destory him. I don\'t see how the guy takes the pressure. His teams has his back now but I no before they were all over his case. I know plex and mike probably got in ass a few times.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the least amount of points I\'ve seen New England score is 20, and that was in 40 mph wind. Now that doesn\'t mean that New England will win, but I think this is going to be one hell of a high scoring game.
But hey, come Sunday, New England could be held to 14 points, and I look like an idiot. That\'s a risk I\'m willing to take.
