Title: Malware problem
Post by: Halberto on October 02, 2007, 03:33:48 PM
I have a virus I can\'t get rid of. I use ad-aware and delete it every 15 minutes but it keeps coming back. What do I do?

And yes, it probably is from porn

That\'s probably the new phoenixsuns.w32 worm, which only affects PCs belonging to Spurs fans.

boysfood.com. best site for porn. i get the occasional spyware but never got any viruses because it works like youtube. what virus program do you use?

for spyware, use Spy Bot. i was recommended it by someone here (i think sammy or LIC). i like it better than adaware. i was running both at one point though but used Spy Bot more often so i deleted AdAware

if you know its a virus, why are you using spyware programs to get rid of it? get a virus scanner program.

McAfee couldn\'t find it either. Spy bot found extra things that AdAware missed, but it\'s still happening.

It\'s creating pop-ups that say I need spyware removal programs every minute (ironic eh?). It even puts a picture as my background warning me about spyware.

McAfee is a piece of shit, for one thing. Does it show the exact location of the virus?

You should install this and post the log file in this thread: http://filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/ (http://filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/)

You can manually shut down the virus using HijackThis if you know what to look for. If you have the name of the file, that would be a good start.

You might also want to try scanning the file or the folder the file is in with this: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/ (http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/) That is, if you know the location of the file, which be a good thing to have. You could try scanning with McAfee in Safe Mode or you can do a Boot-Time Scan with avast! Antivirus. If you have the name of the virus, that would be helpful. You can Google the name of the malware and see if other people have figured out solutions to fixing that little bitch of a virus. You might also be able to shut it down at startup via msconfig, unless the virus is attached to a program that, when opened, the malware is activated...that\'s always a pain in the ass. Start > Run > then type msconfig

If persistent spyware is bogging down your computer, you might need HijackThis. The tiny program examines vulnerable or suspect parts of your system, such as browser helper objects and certain types of Registry keys.

if you are not familiar with regedit or windows registry itself, I wouldnt advise it.

Search and download cleanup40.exe

Install it, run it. Wait.

Then run your antivirus program again.

Alright, I got rid of it. Only took me 5 hours to do it. Assholes. All I wanted was to see Eva Longoria\'s sex tape.

sounds like something titan might do.  You see what happen when you don\'t have real girlfriend but use your hands as substitute and library as your place of enjoyment?

*me runs and hide*

You only get those kinds of privileges when you don\'t suck at the internet.
