I just kind of want to see how 720p looks on normal television. It looks a bit better on games but that might be my imagination.
the problem im having with tv is i cant find anywhere in the options to change it. When i first got the tv, i tried it by calling the cox cable dudes, and they had me at a screen that had it as an option but for whatever reason we couldnt click it (it was a while ago), but going that route, we ended up getting the box so messed up they had to reset my DVR and everything was lost.
anyway, am i forced to use whatever cox is transmitting (my box is 100% of the time at 1080i) or is there some way to change it?

I\'m kinda lost. What console is hooked up and with what cable? If it\'s an Xbox 360 for example, you should change the settings under video/picture/whatever-it\'s-called in the Xbox menu.

sry, i probably shouldnt\'ve thrown in the games thing.
I was wondering on normal television, like HD channels, if you could switch to 720p.

You might be able to change the resolution on the remote or at least in the menu somewhere... Try looking some more. ;)
Sorry can\'t really give better advice right now. :p

You aren\'t going to be able to change the resolution of the screen. You buy the screen for the rez you want. Only thing you can do is tell the cable box what to output. ALthough for better tvs it\'s best to tell the box to send out native rez so your TV can do the conversion itself.
If you tell the cable box to output 720p and you have 1080i, you are just making the TV take a 720p image and change it to 1080i. If you tell the cable box to send out 1080i, then yout tv just kicks back and does nothing.
