I\'ve been obsessing about this game for like a year and a half and it\'s FINALLY coming out. It\'s gunna be released Nov. 13. I even bought the limited edition just because i\'ve been waiting so damn long for it.
I can\'t find any screenshots that show the size of the world, but you\'ve seen how ginormous the cities are (all 3 of which look completely different from eachother), but the kingdom that\'s between those cities is still about 80% of the whole game.
And LIC hinted a while ago at the controlling being crappy but everyone (ign, gametrailers, etc) have said that they were just tossed into the game because ubisoft didn\'t want to give away the story, so naturally you struggle controlling a pretty complex game when you\'re just thrown into it with no tutorial.
Only problem I could see is minor graphical glitches in a few areas since it\'s so huge and they built if from scratch. But everything else, including framerates, look great

Yup :( Luckily tho the PC fall lineup is really strong this year. Lots of titles have caught my interest so i\'ll at least have some stuff to tide me over. Yes it does suck but I look at it as better late than never and Assassins Creed definitely looks like a game worth waiting for. I\'m ceartinly not rushing out to snag one of the consoles.

Going by the trend of games, the only difference will probably be achievements and rumble...
A decent amount of games have had crappy frame rates on the ps3 versions of games, but i kind of doubt there will be any differences between the two. I\'ve become a fan of achiement points..kind of gives you some more satisfaction in doing stuff in game.

I really need to go ahead and get a ps3....but whenever i hear an update about a particular game of interest, then i\'m excited about gettin\' it,....but after the hype comes down a bit, then i\'m like...meh...i can wait a little while longer....but i really need to get one before all of the really AAA games start to trickle out...Assassins Creed included...
Still kinda hard for me to drop $500 for what is basically a gaming system....and yea i know it has blu-ray and a load of other features,...it\'s just me tho,...maybe lay-a-way will ease the pain a bit,....nope,... i actually hate puttin s**t on lay-a-way...if i have the money i\'ll just purchase it...

the only game im expecting to be a letdown is kane and lynch.
Mass Effect\'s gameplay has also looked really underwhelming. And i get impatient with dialogue, which is huge in the game. main reason im waiting till christmas for it.
Do you have any reason for you thinking AC is going to be a letdown? there\'s a grip of actual gameplay videos on gametrailers

anxious to play it? or anxious that it might disappoint.
EGM is the only one with a negative article on it, but the whole thing was just bitching and moaning. Apparantly the person who wrote it got dropped on their head and can\'t react quick enough to press B, and he said "its impossible to do something simple because the buttons are RT+A+Right stick"...maybe because moving is left stick and camera is the right?
Only thing that concerned me was that they said doing the missions got repetitive after 3 kills. But seeing as they were getting more and more pissy, they got more and more biased as it went on. So ill judge it for myself. That\'d be why i go mostly by videos, then what the general public says, THEN reviews

Here\'s what I know about the game and I\'ll paraphrase if for the ADD crowd:
The setting is in the present. They are experimenting with DNA memory. They\'ve found a decendant of Altair and are trying to activate the DNA memory of Altair\'s. So you are re-living his past. This way, when you\'ve finished your game, you are now....basically a trained assassin. Without the physical training part which takes a long time.
Kinda Matrix like, huh?

gman, I knew about the DNA thing, but if that\'s really what the ending is (to learn how to be an assassin), what the fuck man...
if i end the game and that turns out to be it, i will ruin any and every game i can for you. Even though that wouldnt give the reason as to why their doing the DNA training thing, it still gives away what the point was of the whole game if they stay ambiguous about it till the end. If they say why you\'re doing it in the beginning, then itll be cool

Assassin’s Creed is the type of game that comes along only rarely – a title that innovates in so many areas it helps to set a new bar in various aspects of gameplay, storytelling, visuals, and controls. Simultaneously, it’s an imperfect game in which the small flaws that mar its sheen are all the more noticeable because so much of the rest of the game shines so brightly. Deep, engaging, and surprising from beginning to end, Assassin’s Creed’s merits will be debated for a long time. However, as a brave attempt at delivering something unique and audacious, it excels.
The surprises start right off the bat, when you power on the game and spend several minutes second-guessing if they put the right disc in your case. Many of you will have already heard about this opening twist, but if not, I won’t be the one to ruin it for you. Suffice to say, the context in which you find yourself a medieval assassin is more complex than it appears.

Im avoiding spoilers so sorry for ignoring you jbean.
I guess repetitive gameplay is it\'s downside. Think gametrailers gave it a 9.1, got a couple other 9\'s, and a 7 from 1up, most of them referring to the repetition but obviously the 7 thought it was more annoying than the others. Im still confident ill like the game a lot since a lot of games can be looked at as repetitive..plus they said you get what you put into the game. Could probably run past the guards and take out the target every time, but if you put some thought into taking him out it should be fun.
i\'d be lieing if i wasn\'t a little disheartened by everyone pointing out the repetition but..o well..still buying the game

people who actually got the game are starting to talk..getting me just as excited about it as before (still keeping aware of the flaws though)
The reviews bash it because all of the missions involve the same order of like eavesdrop, beat someone one, and pickpocket then assassinate..but there\'s a lot more to do in the game than just those 4 steps all 9 times...but the reviewers don\'t have time to dick around with the game so that\'s all they do.
Granted it\'s a little dumb to go through all that work and have the same 4 steps in the main story, but with a game built from the ground-up, which looks amazing (animations included), gameplay can\'t possibily match up to that. Not saying the game will be bad, but hopefully theyll be able to put a bunch of focus on the gameplay in AC2 since the graphics/physics are all done

Whenever i get a ps3 i\'m still gonna pick this up,...the game looks amazing, it is kind of a letdown that this game doesn\'t reach it\'s full potential, but i\'ll just have to judge for myself, like viper stated, the scores are a little extreme from 9\'s to 7\'s....i\'m also kinda bummed that kane and lynch haven\'t gotten high scores as well,...i was hoping that game would\'ve gotten much higher scores(i still like the action in kane and lynch tho and i\'ll probably end up getting that too)...the only game that has been truly stellar so far is drakes fortune...which will be another game that i\'ll be getting....

great game
Only complaint up to one assassination (i did all the investigating..havent actually assassinated yet) is that you do have to use the "blend" option a little more than i was hoping. It makes you walk painfully slow and is pretty unrealistic sometimes.
But killing people, running away, the fighting, the parkour, leap of faith is all done really well

OPEN MIND LIC!! lol.
It is repetitive, no doubt about it, since it\'s the same 4 things leading up to the assassination. Still love it. Im seeing that if you only do the story and not dick around, you\'ll probably hate the game...hence some of the bad reviews
was there untapped potential? of course..but like you stated, they were very close to biting off more than they could chew with this game, and it took them 4 years to make it what it is today..they concentrated on the smoothness of the game. Main 2 lacks is that repetition leading up to the kill and the AI is questionable sometimes. If you dont use the blend mode, that fixes half the AI problem...the other half is unfixable. Basically, if you start fighting some guards, ull end up being "unwanted" after killing a certain amount, and eventually the guards act as if you didnt just slaughter 10 guys.
Not that there\'s a set amount of kills before that happens, but it seems like if you kill the guards that saw u make the first kill, those are the only ones that react to you..it doesn\'t transfer over that when guards seeing you fighting some guards that a bunch more come...probably because that would be never-ending. Hard to explain..more guards do come but not like an insane amount, but it does feel like it ends prematurely sometimes. But at the same time, when you kill like 10 guys and theres still one guard left, he runs away sometimes, haha
sry for that cluster-fuck of a post

Post by: Raz The Friggin Grea on November 16, 2007, 01:06:33 PM

I\'ve yet to use blend mode, I just muscle thru and kill any guards I encounter. So far, the game is fun, but not great. I hate the map, maybe I\'m just not used to it - or maybe it\'s my disliking for maps in general. Right now, I am just running around rooftops, drop down, kill a guard, repeat and rinse. Guess I need to do something to progress the story..heh

when you gain abilities, it gets subtly better. Counter kills never get old since theyre all awesome. Dodging i havent figured out yet..but the one time i got it to work it was pretty cool.
Not sure if by the map you mean the layout or the actual map u lookat in pause. You have to go on those tall towers and "syncronize" to unfog the map
My only problem with the map is i wasn\'t expecting the kingdom to be so heavily guarded..it\'s like 50 times worse than the city where u can walk around with no problem. Not sure what point they were trying to get across with that.
Title: Assassin\'s Creed Golden
Post by: Raz The Friggin Grea on November 16, 2007, 06:59:24 PM
The thing I hate is the having to pause part. Annoys me...
Did I miss something on the first contact kill? I tried following him and soon as I did locked on, everyone noticed me. So, I didn\'t get to do a stealth kill, instead, I just fought all of them and killed him. Or is that one of the abilities I lost at the start of the game, that I\'ll gain back (like the counter)? Yea, I didn\'t pay a lot of attention to that part of the start, as I was talking to the wife and listening to two kids run around screaming "BYEEEEEEEEEE.BYEEEEEEEEEE."....Anyways, uh, yea, it seems fairly cool so far, to be honest...
Oh and I have no clue why the early impressions complained about the control, the control system works perfect for this game.

*edit* gamespot did a 360 vs ps3 comparison...
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28006.html
I know both games look good but the 360 has the edge here....it\'s almost like how the super nintendo titles always looked a little better than the genesis titles...and i guess how the xbox titles looked better than some ps2 titles, but i gotta admit when the first devil may cry came out on ps2 the visuals at the time rivaled that of the xbox...so i guess to some degree it comes down to the developer...but meh it\'s still not a huge difference for this game tho,...for the most part it just seems like the shadowing and detail is done a little better than the ps3 version...

Not really - there is some missions when you near to do this, but that way it works is you\'ll go to the mission point, the screen will tell you to find a bench and sit, you do this, scan the area for your target, hit "Y" and then you can listen in on his conversation. It takes a whopping ten seconds or so. The same with pickpocketing - the game tells you to activate that mode, then you walk by your target, hit "B" and finish that . In fact, that is one of the worst things about this game, the repetition to the missions.

I\'m doing all of it. Im kind of into the story, even though the main character\'s dialogue is crappy. I like saving all the citizens, and there\'s usually only one evesdrop mission so i do it anyway. I definitly also do the side missions from ur assassin people. I love doing the \'kill these people stealthily\' ones..the collecting flags ones are alright
Plus, there\'s more to the info than the talking. If you press start and go into ur recent memories (the top left one..cant remember what it\'s called), It has layouts of where guards are, good ways to getting to the target.
I kinda overthink how im going to kill the guy. My first 3 kills were a little too unclimactic for me..only way to make it more worthwhile is to put more thought into it. I did the 4th one like that and liked it way more.

Because a comparison is suppose to spark a debate? Not quite. Nice try tho\', kinda depressing that it took two of you to come up with something that simple.

i cant stop playing this damn game..4 days and im on the 7th assassination already.
I screwed up my last assassination which pissed me off. I set it up beautifully, but when i went for the kill i forgot i still had my throwing knives out...remembered when i was in mid-air going for the kill

really? that was my only comment in the thread... the only depressing matter is the fact you feel the need to reply over and over again as if this all actually matters. Its a game - im pretty sure the experience is enjoyable on either system. So what is there to debate?
unless you just want to debate for the sake of debating... whatever floats ur boat.

Four days? Damn. I got it yesterday and I\'m on the fifth assassination, but then again, I am not clearing the maps out and rarely actually do a stealth kill on my target. The coolest one I\'ve done so far was chasing the merchant king. He started to run, before he could get to far, I jumped over the stares and done a jumping assassination kill on him. Was fairly nifty.

how exactly is he trolling? He showed a comparison, added the line "just for fun" with it and then, based on that video, pointed out the ps3 version looks washed out (in that video). No trolling about it. You are the one rushing in, shouting that the comparison isn\'t valid, basing this on no proof at all, other than your saying it...
I\'m not saying the gametrailer vid is valid, because I can\'t know for sure, that is besides the point. The point is, in that vid, ps3 looks washed out and raz commented on it. No trolling about it as far as I can see....

I\'ve seriously used a guide 3 times and im stuck at 19/20 flags in masayaf..i cant even imagine how much of a bitch finding 100 flags in that kingdom will be
edit: This has to be a glitch er something. Maybe not since noone else has had the problem, but i\'ve used a site with a map, and a site with actual screenshots, and i SWEAR iv gotten all of them at one point or another...this is driving me insane

The game has quite a few glitches, so I would not be surprised. Honestly, I\'m on my 7th assassination and lost a lot of interest now that Rock Band is out. Near the end of the 5th, I was already simply playing for the sake of beating it, but now I am not sure I even have the motivation to do that.

wasn\'t a glitch...im just retarded
Im still enjoying the game..i\'ve also stayed away from purchasing any games except this and COD4..Im going to rent ace combat and mass effect at some point..maybe get the orange box at some point.
I just keep finding random things in assassin\'s that keeps me playing. Like, all of the killing animations, i cant get tired of. Plus on some of the combos, i kept hitting X so he\'d end up stabbing the guy through the stomach..but i decided to hit A once and he broke his knee and he layed on the ground in pain. Plus i found you can fight with ur hidden blade, which has some awesome animations

It\'s with every other Xb360 vs PS3 game comparison ; i think it\'s in the way the PS3 outputs video ; the direct feeds of the PS3 just look washed out pos, while that\'s often not the case on tv\'s at home.

I think i\'m gonna wait to purchase this,...along with heavenly sword,...i was amped about this game, heavenly sword and kane and lynch and drakes fortune *which i hear is great*, but as far as this game goes, i\'ve just been hearin\' too much in the way of repetition and not really havin\' anything to do in the three cities, kane and lynch has had lackluster reviews as well, so the only games that i\'m hopin\' will be solid titles are resident evil, metal gear and silent hill,...i\'ll still end up gettin\' the games mentioned earlier, but i\'m not in any rush to get them since reading current reviews.

it\'s as "plagued with glitches" as any other game...meaning theyre there since people have run into a few, but they arent as big as you\'re making them out to be.

I am not that sure this is the case.
For example another comparison they made was for NFS. Well like always the PS3 version looked brighter and blurrier. The HUD looked blurry on the PS3 image but crispy on the 360 which makes you wonder if they were indeed taken the same way. I ve played the NFS demo on the PS3 and the HUD and everything else looked very very crisp and not as bright.
It looked exactly like the 360 version except from some minor aliasing present on the PS3 version.
Also it was funny because they tried to compare the smoke effects on both consoles. On the 360 the camera angle was from the side where the detail on the smoke was shown clearly. On the PS3 they took it from an angle were the sun effects were causing too much bloom on the smoke, hiding it\'s details and making it look like a yellow blurry thing in the process. The truth is smoke effects are identical in both versions.

Don\'t be an idiot. It\'s all over the top gaming sites on how the latest PS3 firmware was causing problems with AC. If you want to be a blind fool, fine. But don\'t try to spin it any over way. Just because you haven\'t experienced them, doesn\'t mean they don\'t exist. That is like me saying, just because I haven\'t had the RROD on my 360, they don\'t exist.
Damn, some of you people are dense.

Will do. Part of me is growing tired of these planned sequels, do the fact we don\'t get closure on the first go around and it takes years to make a sequel. I mean, in all honesty, by the time Mass Effect 2 rolls around, I\'ll will have forgot a bunch.

I think the part he really nailed on the head is how stupid it is that you need to hit the A button to walk slow on the horse, because if you go fast, you\'re going to be chased. It just makes no sense.

Yea but then a new firmware was released a week or so later that fixed most any issuses and i dont see how a firmware messing up the game has to do with the game\'s hardware or software being the problem... although ill say sony is to blame but still i never had any problems in my playthrough on ps3. And at least it was fixed in 1-2 weeks. Hows that RROD going now even 2 years after release... they still haven\'t fixed it... they just prolonged each consoles eminent death by adding more paste around the GPU
the only thing i find funny is how you go out of your way to point out the ps3 faults... even if u pointed out RROD it was just to prove ur point... how about this... just play the damn game and enjoy it, its not that hard

PS2=open it up adjust lens and fix: free 360=a)send it in for repair, sometimes even taking a month to fix, 2)send it in and get a refurbished one which could get another RROD. If the warranty isnt valid any more you ll have to pay too. It also seems that the RROD phenomenon occurs even more often than the PS2\'s disk read error. One think is for sure the PS3 is a more solid peace of hardware than PS2 and 360.

Well, for the matter , MS extended the warranty on the 360, what did Sony do for the PS2 and it\'s problem? Your whole logic on how easy it is to fix, is simply stupid. It\'s making excuses for shoddy hardware. It would be like me saying that you can do the towel trick and your 360 will be A-OK, so it\'s all good.

Um ok, Is the experience enjoyable on both systems? Yes? OK then stfu about comparing lol. PS3 graphics have always been seen brighter on games... if its too bright just adjust the damn tv, funny how in this game its seen as making it look crappy but in Oblivion it was seen as good. Altho i have to say Uni\'s comments typically are no better.
And you can not tell me the 360 has not been the worst problemed console hardware wise... ever. I would own a 360 if it wasn\'t for so many problems until i have seen good proof that the problem is fixed then no... i will wait. And yes i have even seen more then enough pics of Elites models with RROD and those haven\'t even been out for a year.
And hell i agree PS2\'s were shoddy too - hell im on like my 3rd ps2 now days. I do want MS to fuck off with their charging for things though. I\'ve had my brother\'s prince of persia: warrior within waiting to be played for ages (iv only played the first one), but instead of solid games on the BC list, they have games like the playboy mansion and barbie. I mean, if sands of time is BC, why not the others?
Now i have a feeling there will never be another BC update since they realized the retards will pay for downloadable xbox games.

Rrrriiiight. I am dumb but it is YOU who gives a dumb analogy. The towel trick not only doesnt work. It fries your console even more. The PS2 trick actually fixes the console. Not to mention that it wasnt even a matter of being broken. Just a matter of readjusting. RROD=broken Disk Error=readjustment of lens.
MS extended the warranty to three years but still you often get a refurbished 360 as a replacement or wait for it to get fixed for a month because not all retailers are willing to simply change it with a new one. And you will pay for it a lot if you get a RROD three years later.
Sony currently offers a more solid device and since the PS2 slim was introduced disk error is almost a thing of the past. Thats better than three years warranty with uncertainty.

1: Both systems, PS2 and 360 are built like shit. At least you realize this and I apperciate that.
2: All I done was posted a comparison and people start jumping out of the woodwork to defend the PS3 version. Why is that? They are the same exact game , when you compare gameplay, but according to one site, the PS3 version looks worse. Another site says the 360 version looks worse. What does it matter? It\'s just a comparison. I didn\'t see anyone jump down Clips throat for posting a comparison.
3: And on almost all of these multi-platform comparisons, it doesn\'t come down to hardware, it comes down to developer resources. Logic would say that if the PS3 is hard to develop for and expensive, then most likely the 360 will have a very slight edge on a lot of these games (see: Lost Planet) - but this doesn\'t always apply. It really comes down to the developer and the product.
Quote
that\'s always what it\'s about. Both have positives and negatives, ps3 people magnify the 360 negatives, vice versa..its all bullshit..getting kind of tired of it personally. play what u have, if you dont like the competition, mayybeeee i dunno..dont fucking buy it. mm, I really dont get why u have a 360 if all ur going to do is bitch and moan, all while giving money to the company you despise. \'hey..these guys make a shitty product, i guess ill buy one.\' Both sides may have valid arguements, but THAT is a fucking idiotic concept
Thank you. He constanly complains about the 360 and how shitty it is, but is on his third one. Just like he has bitched about the Wii, but he bought one..It\'s moronic.
I don\'t like the PS3, due to lack of games that interest me, so I don\'t own one. Gee, how crazy is that?
And I won\'t even respond to Uni, as he is too damn dumb to bother with.

Glad I\'m not the only one who has noticed this. Every single time he gets called on something, he either spins it, changes the subject or was misinterpreted. Just like when he complained about how Oblivion should never be on a console, but then praised the PS3 version. I went back, dug out NUMEROUS quotes that contradicted his current stand and what did he do? He tried to spin it with a bunch of nonsense.
It happens every single time he decides to chime in. Someone eventually calls him and he has to dig himself out of a hole with sarcasm, most the time.

*raises hand slowly*....i kinda like the comparisons made in agruments over ps3 vs 360...i mean it is what is,...is most of it really nonsense? of course...me personally i\'ve always been a sony fan,...mainly because of the controller as crazy as that sounds, for me the game can look great, but if the controller has buttons that doesn\'t feel right in my hands, i deem the game unplayable.... the playstation controller is the perfect fit for me and always has been...i hated the xbox and gamecube controllers...
Graphics really aren\'t a big deal as both systems are nearly identicle, but sony droppin\' support for cell, and that\'s if i\'am understanding that properly might mean that fact of ps3 bein hard to develop for might be an issue....of course big firms had the monetary resources to crank out big games, but smaller firms had a problem gettin\' the most out of it,..well that and the expense of the cell tech itself was driving sony into the red as far as expenses were concerned.
I don\'t think there\'s anything wrong with honest to goodness debates over certain aspects of ps3 over the 360 and vice-versa,... cause some of those debates can very entertaining and educational as well,... as long as you leave some of that fanboy attitude at the door.

I used to be like you. I\'m not afraid I to say I used to be a bit of a sony fanboy, but it mainly had to do with the fact that they had a console that was perfect (ps1) and the controller back then was the greatest. ps2 was a great console, although not as perfect as the ps1 used to be. However, IMO this generation sony has done almost nothing right. The ps3 is alot of hype about nothing. They just kept promising and promising, but even to this day the library is severely lacking, especially when taking the huge 360 library into consideration. Add to that the fact that IMO the 360 controller is superior to the playstation controller. I used to dislike anything microsoft had to offer, but I just can\'t deny the fact that they have done alot right this generation...

The original Xbox controller was beyond suck, but the \'S\' revision was pretty damn nice. Never did care for the Gamecube controller .
As for the PS3 > 360 controllers. I would say that the PS3 controller is way to light. It just feels cheap and like it could break at any time. I much prefer the 360, minus the D-Pad. That part needs some serious work.

yea, i hated the first xbox in all ways. 360 on the other hand i love, especially the controller.
anyway, these flags in AC are going to be the death of me. Suprisingly, finding the flags is fun to me, which is why im kind of obsessing about it...its when im stuck at 98/100 in the kingdom that i wish there was some cheat to get those 2 damn flags
I used a guide, crossed off ones i found, circled ones i mightve picked up before and arent there (incase i actually overlooked it) and i cant figure out where the hell they could be..

Personally I think Sony did many things right with the PS3 if we isolate our perspective only on PS3. What they did wrong was that they are lagging behind in their offers compared to competition.
Their console improved in many things above the PS2 and offers much more. But what happens when your competitor starts offering and improving one year before you? You are obvisouly going to lag behind and the consumer will certaintly start taking into account his opportunity costs. Choose a cheaper 360 with a bigger library? Or choose a much much more expensive PS3 that doesnt have as many games?
Sony fell victims of their own success and businesses. The blu ray bared a huge risk and at the same time an opportunity that as a whole business entity couldnt avoid. Sony even created a report noting down all the costs and damages they would have had to endure in case the PS3 got delayed because of blu ray. It also increased costs of production too much. I am not sure if they had a good contingency planning though. I ll have to reread that .pdf again.
They also had too many events that blew up their reputation. There was a battery recall, the patent dispute with immersion which resulted to the absence of vibration, sites spreading negativity, the European delay etc.
Also the controller remained as it is due to their previous success. Two generations in a row it was the standard and used by more than 100 million gamers world wide. Then although the controller could have been much better, the "boomerang" controller wasnt well received by the public. So they stayed with the old design believing it was the best choice.
All these plus more affected the course of the console. In marketing one negative event spreads 10 times more bad reputation than a positive spreading a good one.
This is the first time that I am considering owning two consoles since both are at equal terms now.

If you honestly think Sony done a lot of things right with the PS3, you\'re crazy. The game library is dismal at best, the launch price was outrageous and so far, Cell has been nothing but hype and no substance. And don\'t even get me started on their half-baked network. You may pay for Live, but as far as it goes, Live offers a lot better service than the current version of the PSN.

You act like better matchmaking isn\'t something worth noting - it is. Don\'t forget it also offered ingame voice, even if players aren\'t playing the same game. It features a better UI, it has downloads galore (demos / themes /gamerpics / tv shows / movies). You have your gamercard, when mixed with achievements, gameplay is extended. Sure, it\'s not free, but when the service is ten times better, the price isn\'t a big deal.

All things considered the ps3 will eventually be a pretty nice console, I have no doubt about that, but even until now, it remains the inferior choice. It will take at least a good handfull of AAA titles for it to be considered a good console IMO. This is from a blanc perspective though. I really lost trust in sony because of their insane hype PR bullshit. I know it was already bad with the ps2, but this generation they\'ve taken it to a whole other level. In the ps2 era I was willing to blindly trust them because they made such an awesome console before (ps1) but this time I\'m happy waiting for that final moment when ps3 will actually be a great choice of console. In the mean time I\'m very happy only having a 360...

exactly. Like, if i were deciding between 2 consoles, and one was more expensive, that console at that moment better be hands down the better console. But if the cheaper competition has 90% the same games to choose from, and the exclusives aren\'t THAT good (there\'s a few but theyre either really short, or not worth the extra money), then i dont see that it\'s worth getting yet.
MGS will make me think about getting one if it turns out to be revolutionary..if it turns out as an above average game, ill wait for god of war 3 and whatever the ico team\'s brewing up

Given time, it should become a fairly good console, but right now, I don\'t see a reason to justify it\'s price as a gaming console. I say "gaming console", that way I don\'t have to hear the whole Blu-Ray argument.

I know you didn\'t say Heavenly Sword was good enough. It most certainly isn\'t. The other two, I would maybe give you, but it still doesn\'t justify the price tag. Just like I didn\'t buy a 360 until about a year after launch, as none of it\'s games justified the price tag.

Sony did hit a few hurdles early on....they actually stated that there was no need to have multiple consoles at different prices like the 360, yet later on they did the exact same thing. I was pissed with how sony handled the ps3 this gen...mainly because of the price,....i mean when they announced the price at it\'s unvailing all you heard in the crowd was ohhhh! and that\'s oohhh in a bad way, i knew from the jump that the price would hurt this thing, but sony thought with extreme arrogance that their name alone and prior success would have everybody gunnin\' for it.
80g, 40g 60g...sony has been all over the place with it\'s console.... why?...it\'s the price...but there\'s one thing i\'ve kinda always hated about both ms and sony and that is that both are always tryin to be the all-in-one...i would be happy if the ps3 just played games and that\'s it....i\'m sure blu-ray and hd-dvd have superior enhancements over regular dvd, but it\'s not big enough for me to actually call for an upgrade, and even when i do upgrade i\'ll probably end up buyin a stand alone unit anyway....unless the blu-ray player in the ps3 is really on a high mark performance wise as a higher end unit.

Instead, I\'d write it up to the fact that once again, Sony botched the PS3 launch numbers and created a so called "shortage", only difference is, unlike the PS2, people lost interest after the initial launch.

I\'ve played a PS3, more than numerous times, so yeah, it\'s easy to judge it.
But then again, I\'m sure if we could dig back far enough, we could dig you judging the original XBOX, before it was even released. I\'ll assume you mean the topic creator is a troll...
Posting all of Sony\'s bullshit with links to back them up is trolling?

Wrong. I was the one defending 360 when employees at stores had no idea and they were telling me that the PS3 is twice as powerful as the 360.
I was also the one who helped my friend buy a 360 and the one who told his cousin to try 360 too before deciding which console to buy.
Its the opposite that happens. Some people want to attack Sony until they die, and often follow blindly trollish posts, such as the one posted in here.

Better things to do...yet you\'ve replied more than anyone else on this and still refuse to back up your claims this guy is a troll...
You claim this guy is trolling because he reported on all the BS Sony has fed us all, up to the launch of the PS3, and continue to feed us to this day (but thats for another topic).
First of all, this guy simply compiled a whole list of Sony BS into one handy thread. He didn\'t make shit up to slander Sony, like you claim he is...

Oh right. My replies that take probably 30 seconds to write each, each written at a different day. Unlike some others searching for trollish posts over the internet. If I had nothing better to do with my life I would have started analyzing each one of his links in here but I didnt.
The majority of his posts are misinterpretations, exaggerations, multiple links using the same source or saying the same thing, others have nothing to do with any of Sony\'s "BS" and many of his titles have no relation to the content of the link.
That post is the best feed for trolls.

Hmmm....i read those quotes and while a couple of them can be misinterpeted, most of them reflect sony\'s arrogance...it\'s one thing to have confidence in your product, but alot of the things that was said by sony (and i don\'t even need that site to remember it) was just plain dumb....it\'s too cheap?....you want people to work more hours to have it?....crazy....as we all have noticed sony has since then stepped away from such arrogant comments.
And sony is still not out of the water yet,...they are still waaay behind on their quarterly sales goals, i\'m sure eventually things will turn around for them, but it\'s a fact that sony had the opportunity to make ps3 have one of the greatest launches ever and they squandered it severely. The only thing sony has done right so far, and this coming just recently, was their maketing of the product,...those recent ps3 commercials with the ps3 morphing all over the place is pretty slick,...waaay better than that creepy looking baby mutant thingy.

Sony did a huge mistake in the identification of their target market. They narrowed it too much, from a console anyone can buy to a console only people with cash and innovators can buy, thinking everyone will recognize the extra benefits and features and will try to buy it from the start. The "too cheap" comment was relative to what the console was planned to offer, its hardware quality and features. It wasnt cheap, but it was "cheap" considering how much it costed them to produce and its features existing on just as pricey or more expensive devices. Thats why the comment was followed by "we want people to work hard to own one" because they aknowledged the high price. But this was a huge mistake. They ignorantly shrunk their target market because they were expecting everyone will be trying to buy it. They concluded that the elasticity of demand for the Playstation was inelastic.

So Sony DIDN\'T say/claim such stupid shit like:
PS3 is too cheap - is that why they lowered the price and also introduced a watered down version?
5 million will buy it no matter what - to this day, sales are barely over 5 million worldwide, one year later
No PS3\'s to be found right after launch - Penny Arcade finds more than 10 in half an hour
Rumble controllers are last-gen and we don\'t need it - cause Immersion is suing you for copyright infringement but now that you\'ve settled, you can release the Dual Shock 3 and charge us $50
All those links came from reputable sources but you are just blind to this fact. Continue calling him a troll for posting facts. Its better than being a blind fool. Sony especially needs the support from a mindless drone like you.

reputable? You are pulling things out of your pocket. The majority of sites are often as credible as your lowest gossip magazine. Especially if you consider that they base their sources on what another site reported, rather than linking dirfectly to the original source.
A perfect example is the "120 fps in games". All the internet will tell you this. But only one forum went as far as to direct link to the original japanese source (beyond3d) and only one site was written based 100% on the actual source.
Gamespot and your link: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6136786.html
Quote
Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi said he expects the PS3 to be capable of running games at a stunning 120fps, according to a report in The Nikkei BP.
Oh lets go to Nikkei then and see what they actually reported
I read and laugh at the so called "reputable sources"

You\'re a freak, if you got a 1000 on this game. I mean, honestly I can\'t imagine trying to get all those flags.
The only 1000 point game I have done was Oblivion and I done that in part with the wife\'s help, as I could not be bothered to complete the tedious and boring Fighters Guild.
You have to give MS credit tho\'. The whole achievement and gamecard system is so simple but so very effective. I know on some games, I look at the achievements and go ahead and plot on what I plan on trying to achieve. One of those games was \'Mass Effect\' and now most recently, \'Virtua Fighter 5\'.
