Famitsu gave the game a 39/40 score (10,10,9,10)

HOLY SHIT! It\'s a racing game!
:D
-
a dry and boring one at that. GT4 for the ps2 looked good but after a day or 2 lost it\'s appeal quick. Eye candy is not enough to sustain a game on it\'s own. A damage system with real time physics interaction would be a start, that would really change the whole game dynamics and add more value to the game. If there is one 1st party developer than can showcase the potential of the dreaded cell it\'s Polyphony Digital
Maybe GT6?
-
It\'s sex on wheels!
-
Those into the sport of driving appreciate these types of games. Clearly nvidia256 still gets driven around by his mommy and can\'t drive a stick shift.
-
This I will agree with. I have zero interest in a real racing sim, I\'m more a Ridge Racer type of guy. Kinda like I\'m more a VF guy, as opposed to Tekken.
-
Not out until tomorrow (13/12) but I do agree the franchise is starting to get stale. You are technically just playing GT3 over again but with much pretty graphics, maybe some extra courses and of course new cars.
They REALLY need to impliment realtime dynamic weather/time of day and of course, damage. I mean, they pulled off dynamic weather and TOD on the freaking Dreamcast with Metropolis Street Racer (the very first PGR if you will) and it looked pretty cool (I loved how the game used the system clock to set the time of day on tracks etc, and used time zones to compensate) so if you only ever played the game at night you always raced at night. It was very cool and added alot of detail, as the game always looked different every hour.
-
MSR was a great game, under rated, if anything. Much like most of the Dreamcast library.

The Sim/Arcade gameplay of GT series is what made it stand out from the rest of the arcade racers. It was a perfect balance of arcade and sim. Ever tried playing Ferrari 355? Great sim....but extremely unforgiving which would turn off most gamers who just want to fly.
GT series have had their gameplay tweaked a bit, for better or worse. There will be online gaming on this version. As far as cosmetic damage goes, that\'s fine. It\'d be nice if it had it. But the core of GT series is the abiliy to drive the course properly using the fundementals of driving.

I appreciate them, but I can understand where he\'s coming from when he says what he does

You lost interest because it wasnt a game of your type. It wasnt mt type either. I bought GT4 for its technical splendor but I havent touched it for a long time. But it has everything for a car racing fanatic to keep him occupied for months

Thats why we ve got PGR

The game looks good....very impressive...i don\'t mind the fact that this game doesn\'t have damage,...only when the A.I. will drive like real drivers then maybe i\'ll appreciate the damage factor, as it is now, it seems the A.I. is still bein\' controlled on a predetermined rail system.....and to be honest there\'s really nothing more that can be done to this game without turning it into the burnout series....the only thing i ever hated about this series was the painstakingly process of tryin to get all gold licenses.

If the demo was any indication the the AI does not run on a predetermined rail system. When I played the demo the AI did mistakes, reacted to my driving and lost control when I hit them unlike in previous GTs

Do want! But Im going to wait for the EU/US release.
Cant wait to tear some asphalt with this thing.

They had it at SEMA last month. It\'s really slick. They only had a couple tracks though. The interior view is really cool with the dude\'s arms on the steering wheel and stuff. But with no damage it does get dull.
-
The full version of GT5 will have damage, according to Yamauchi. But only on certain cars and tracks. The test track, he said that anything over 150mph would destroy any car so they are still working on a balanced damage system.

Dayum Biz...that\'s a ton of info!...excellent post...:thumb:...everything we ever wanted to know is summed up in this one posting!....and gman, that you tube vid is hot...i\'m not into the steering wheel thing, but it looks incredibly responsive and it\'s even on point with the driver turning the steering wheel inside the game itself, the gear switching, turning and everything looks and sounds really precise,... great stuff...:)

I will say this about the GT series, their package/manual designs are always top notch, something thats very rare with video games. Usually its all just slapped together. Really a testament to their dedication to detail.
