WOW looks great!! Heath looks he is going to be a great Joker, dark and sinister. This version of the Joker looks to be more in line with my favourite graphic novel...The Killing Joke. Can\'t wait for this one to come out :)

I may not actually see this one. My fear of clowns is more like disgust....like some people are afraid of snakes or a ball of slimy worms. I feel the same for clowns.
The Joker from the 60\'s Batman and 1989\'s Batman....not so much. But this one....oh jeebus.

Looks fucking awesome. But I feel that Joker in this one lacks that something. He looks more like the type of mad man that is commonly found in many movies.

Heath Ledger stresses out on the Joker
Heath Ledger, who is playing the Joker in the latest incarnation of the Nolan/Bale Batman franchise, The Dark Knight, seems to be stressing out a little bit. Granted, when playing a psychopathic killer like the Joker, one doesn’t have to look far for the reasons why.
When it was announced that Heath Ledger would be performing the role of the Joker, there was a lot of noise. Was he going to be any good? What type of style was he going to use? What was the makeup going to look like?
So over the past few months, it’s been good to hear that actors working alongside him – Michael Caine being the most prominent example – are loving his work.
A large article on Ledger has appeared in the New York Times, and has shed some light on the man behind the smile. From the article;
He is here in London filming the latest episode of the “Batman” franchise, “The Dark Knight.” It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.
“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.
The man who sang “Can’t take my eyes off you” to Julia Styles in the teen classic, 10 Things I Hate About You, has also been cast in the film, I’m Not There, as one of six actors portraying the legendary Bob Dylan. But he really puts himself in to his roles as well, as this next extract suggests.
Here too was his Joker diary, which he began compiling four months before filming began. It is filled with images and thoughts helpful to the Joker back story, like a list of things the Joker would find funny. (AIDS is one of them.) Mr. Ledger seemed almost embarrassed that the book had been spotted, as if he had been caught trying to get extra credit in school.
Heath Ledger may not have been everyone’s cup of tea at the beginning of this whole roller coaster ride, but right now, one has to be happy with the amount of commitment being put in to it by Ledger. The Dark Knight is expected to hit cinemas July 18, 2008.
Crazy fool. He\'s gonna kill someone in real life I bet.

Yeah, there is reports also of him out in public, smelling bad and looking like a bum. Apparently while filming he went the extra mile to get into the role.

I kinda lost interest with the batman flicks early on...i heard batman begins was decent but never really decided to check it out....this here tho looks good...i like the dark demented look of the joker,...that\'s how he\'s supposed to be...:fro:...it kinda reminds me of Frank Millers batman comic he did back in tha day......*oh and the trailer is gone*....:(.....even without the trailer, the posters are even peaking my interest...

Batman Begins is beyond decent. It\'s fantastic.
And these "leaks" are not on purpose. WB is having places take them down. The posters, most likely are just released, the trailer was recorded at a cinema.

It\'s curious, isn\'t it? One would assume that a major movie studio wouldn\'t want a cheap camcorder version of their trailer released to the internet, but maybe there IS some marketing value in that.
You leak it, then quickly pull it, and maybe you can keep the hardcore fans drooling just the right amount. If you pull it fast enough, you can be pretty sure the trailer won\'t be seen by the ordinary mass market who would be turned off by the poor video quality. I dunno. Some advertising companies are always looking for new ways to be a little more "cutting edge" than their competitors.
Maybe I\'m wrong. I am just naturally suspicious when it comes to big conglomerates like WB.

Well, see\'ing as WB has put a ton of money into viral marketing and put up posters with a hidden link (Atasteforthetheatrical.com?) and are now pulling these trailers as soon as they are put up, it really makes no sense to say they leaked it.
Now, if it was a decent looking version, then yeah, I\'d agree, but WB stands to gain nothing by "leaking" this bootleg camcorder footage. It takes away from their viral marketing, something they\'ve invested money in and it takes away from people who would go see I Am Legend, simply for the trailer (I was one of those).

WB is throwing cash out the window right now marketing I Am Legend. I would guess they aren\'t really depending on Batman fans to put them in the black on opening weekend. It\'s somewhat the same market anyway. Probably Batman fans might want to see a zombie vampire movie also...
BTW, are you saying that now you aren\'t planning to see I Am Legend, to see a large screen high res version of this trailer?
Who knows if they have anything to gain by releasing a camcorder trailer. I\'m just playing devils advocate. The crazy thing about advertising companies is they will often do things that seem counterproductive or produce unmeasureable results. If they can convince the client that it\'s cool or cutting edge, the results don\'t matter. The most important thing is to be hotter and more subversive than the competitive advertising agency.

Personally I didnt like that they didnt show much from the Scarecrow. I was expecting much more. And I hope I wont be dissapointed with Joker either. I want to see Joker\'s twisted mind combined with his morbid (but simultaneously funny) sense of humor. Especially in the way he treats Batman and tries to threaten Gotham City. Not simply another cliche mad man.

can\'t even compare scarecrow and joker.
Scarecrow, for me at least, was the worst part of the first movie. I loved the movie, but the way he rode up on the horse and just got tazed was dumb. His character when he was just the doctor was good, and the two seconds he was the scarecrow a few times was alright..but he still didnt do THAT much

He\'s not suppose to be a physical threat, so really anyone should be able to take him out like the bitch he is without the Scarecrow mask.
Nolan=genius when it comes to the villains. Falcone, Ducard/Ra\'s, Scarecrow, and Joker already looks perfect.

It\'s not so much that, cuz i get that. It\'s just, he was only "scarecrow" with the mask for 2 seconds, with the chick, batman, the gang leader guy. And it just seemed weak when he rode up on a horse for a random millisecond just to get tazed. It was like nolan thought "oh shit i forgot about scarecrow" when trying to figure out how to close the movie\'s characters
The only reason it didnt take away from the movie is because he was only a minor part. His \'doctor\' side had a bigger part than scarecrow, and he did well as the doctor

I thought it worked. I liked the idea that he was a normal guy and at the end, he just went abit crazy, put on a burlap sack and got tazed like a little bitch.
Then again, I like the whole added realism to all the villains. With Ra\'s, a character this immortal, instead of a Lazarus Pit, it is hinted at that "Ra\'s", is nothing more than a title, that is passed down so that one person takes the spot of another, in a sense of immortality.
Just like with this Joker, we don\'t really get an back story. All we know is that he has scars around his mouth, for a fake smile and he at one point says, " What doesn\'t kill us...makes us.....Stranger.." . He\'s just some nut job who went total ape shit and it works.

The final showdown with Scarecrow I also felt was a little anti-climactic. Rides up, gets tazed, thats that. Dr Crane was great tho.
As for this new Joker (which will blow Nicholson out of the water. I\'m calling it now) Nolan has said that Joker to him was always an absolute, so don\'t expect a major origin story. Nicholson\'s Joker was like a crime boss, and this Joker, even tho he too has hired goons has more of the mentality of a serial killer and I think thats fantastic.
