Well, it was a good movie on its own.

I didn\'t like the ending. I didn\'t like the fact that there were humans that survived and living quietly in a secured compound where they didn\'t hear Robert\'s daily radio messages - yet a woman from Maryland heard him. Apparently, everyone knew who Robert Neville was. The man who could save them from the plague. Yet no one bothered to rescue him if anyone did hear him?

How the hell did she manage to cross into Manhattan Island? Where did she get ultra-violet spot lights? Why did the director not follow the book\'s most awesome chase seen ever written in print (the part where Robert\'s watch stopped working and had to drive back to his home where the vamps were waiting for him)?

Other than that, quite entertaining. Good suspense.

I give it a B.

Your post makes me want to see it less.

I didn\'t think that was possible. :(

Shitty, I just told a buddy that would probably be a good one to see with his girlfriend.

Not to mention the monsters kept showing higher intelligence and then in the end they do nothing with it and make Will Smith into Jesus.  And why do the rats get infected but the deer and the lions don\'t?

Will Smith on his own was good.  The way they treated his character through the foraging scenes was excellent.  They just couldn\'t figure out what they wanted to do with the vampires which killed the last quarter of the movie for me.  I mean, you have a perfectly set up scene where he tries to kill himself along with as many vampires as he can.  Why not take that scene, have him be captured and then explain the vampire society thats being built without his knowledge.  Publicly execute him and ta-dah, good ending.

What the fuck was up with the vamp dogs? They can get out at dusk but not the humans? In the book, the vamps attacked each other sometimes if there was no humans left. And Robert always had to clean up the mess the next day. These dogs should have attacked the vamps.

Also, vamps slept all day. In the book, Robert would go in and drag them out. The movie made them into sleepless monsters with superhuman strength. Fuckin\' Hollywood!

I thought it was rather good, but I haven\'t read the book. The book as we all know will always be better than the movie and there will never be all the great things in the book in the movie, so to expect it to be near the book you are just grasping for straws.

Only thing I can say is that movie ending to "The Mist" was better than the book. Hell, even Stephen King said the same thing.

I liked it overall.

One scene that confused me was the scene where he sees fred and get caught in the trap. At first I took this scene as him continuing to go insane and he just forgot he set up the trap, later on i realized it was the dark seeker who set up the trap. This didn\'t make sense to me because why did the dark seeker think/know neville would be attracted to the manican? The only way he would know this is if he were studying Neville during the morning when he went to the dvd store, and since theyre supposed to be asleep during the day that would make that impossible.

I also agree that the directors did a horrible job with showing to intelligence of the dark seekers. When Neville captures the girl one to test the other one exposes himself to light. Neville says that this shows they\'ve lost all human qualities and they\'re not very smart. I think instead of misinterpreting this they should have made Neville realize that they were intelligent and then they could have developed that idea more. I took that scene as the dark seeker wanting to save the other one because they started to form communities, I don\'t know if thats what was really going on but thats what it seemed like.

A theory (for the movie): They knew he was going to the DVD store because they could track his scent. In the beginning, he would douse the steps to his home with some chemical...probably gasoline to hide his scent.

Also, the alpha vamp had enough smarts to copy Robert\'s trap from the previous time. But he needed a bait to get Robert to the trap. So he used one of the mannequins.

I saw it. Creepy movie, but there were obvious plot holes...

Though Anna could have made it to the island on a boat, with her truck.
