I\'ve worked at a few retail places but this is the first time I\'ve ever been laid off. Its a weird feeling. Worked by ass off and only to be told when I walk into work that today and tomorrow are my last days. They said there were cuts in the hours but most of the other people kept their jobs. I dunno. Kinda depressing. Now I get to spend the rest of my break figuring out what I\'m going to be doing to make money for next semester. I work at a liquor store too but I only make 35 a week for stocking fridgest and drinking beer and that\'s not enough to live by. I was making 160 at least a weekend which was more than enough for me. A good living in my situation. Ah well. One of those life\'s learning experiences I guess that I should have.

Sorry to hear titan. When I was in college during the winter break one of the retail spots closed down too, lucky for me I had another job that I ended up devoting more hours to.
If you want easy cash, deliver pizzas :]

My advice: keep drinking

Yea gettin\' layed off sucks,..but you\'re nowhere near to bein\' in your profession yet, and this job was just somethin\' to keep some change in yer pocket, wait until you get that main job that you plan on makin\' a livin\' with, then get canned, that really sucks,...that happened to me a couple of years ago...i was at my job for 16 yrs and everybody in our IT dept got axed or "outsourced" i should say,...but i already had a plan to move to georgia when they were plannin\' to put us on ice...so it wasn\'t that bad.
But in your case it still sucks, being that it was your main source of income...like thx stated dominoes is always hirin\'....;)....sorry to hear that tho...

It kind of was my way of making a living in a way. My mom pays my bills and rent but I wanted to move away from that. I started paying for my own gas and stuff again and was proud of myself. I hate being dependent on someone.
I heard two versions on why I was laid off from the store. One reason they said was they cut the hours of the store from 900 for the holidays to 400. But then another manager said I was laid off because I missed two days last week. What is funny is they had two schedules, one had me working wednesday and thursday (which I can\'t work during hte week because of school and I work at the liquor store on thursdays) and one without. That and I was told that it was ok to skip because I wasn\'t supposed to work. Who knows. I\'m gonna talk to the store manager tomorrow and see if what\'s the deal. But today is the last day I\'m there. I\'m gonna work hard and leave on good terms this way if it was because of the holidays, they can call me when someone quits. The assistant said he wants me to stay because I do things right away when asked and done quickly but it wasn\'t his call.
I\'m working at the drug store I worked at in high school but I\'m done there after a couple weeks. Its only during my break. I guess I\'ll be picking up a few extra hours there. But the liquor store at my school wants me to work more hours so I do have options which is good.

Get a job waiting tables, you\'ll hate your life but the money is good if you know how to deal with people.

People get to me sometimes. If they give me shit I take it out on something or someone. Plus I have no experience in that field. If I was to do something remotely like that, I\'d be a bartender.

Being out of a job is always a bitch. Good luck.
