Let me get this straight - the national debt is through the roof and you get tax refunds? Well good for you I guess. :)

Is this for everyone? If so, I\'d probably buy a PS3.

Sammy, I think the whole point of tax refunds is to pump money back in the economy. You give people free money, they go out and spend it on stupid things :) I spent my last tax refund on a Roger Waters concert. Ran me completely dry but it was worth it :)

With that said, I\'ll put mine towards a Sony SXRD RPTV. Looking at the 60 inch model, figure I\'ll take my refund, plus my bonus at work (expect it around March) and pick one up.

Are those 1080p? That should be pretty awesome together with High-def movies and a proper surround setup. 60" is huge, I thought my 32" was big.

Yea, they are 1080P.   I already own a 50 inch, I won\'t go any smaller than 50, only bigger. If I had to watch on a 32\', I wouldn\'t even bother.  Hell, I was looking at the Samsung 75inch RPTVs, but decided against it due to the color (mainly black levels).  I\'ll settle for a 60 inch.

I\'m more curious what you was banned for on that forum, G.

;)

Pretty cool.
I only sit 2 meters from the TV so 32" is enough right now. Might get a larger one the next time I update though.

I have a 32 inch... TV... and it\'s a suitable size for me. I wouldn\'t mind an even bigger picture, but on the other hand I do care about the size of the TV. I don\'t want a big fucking box in my living room like some sort of shrine.

I wouldn\'t mind a projector some day though.

PS. Gman, I feel cheated and violated... I thought you only cared about us... *cries like a girl*

I wasn\'t banned. That\'s the title I chose. Plenty of people ask "Oh man! Why\'d you get banned?"

If I do get banned, it\'s my hatred for Naseem Hamed fans. I hate that fighter with a passion as well as his fans.

So....how\'d you find me?

Hehe, only if the light-bulb tech improves. ;)

I\'ve read people talking about their projectors, calculating how many hours they can use it per day so the super-expensive bulb will last.

Some of them last 5000 hours. That\'s about 2,500 movies worth. I dunno about you, but it would take me a bit of time to watch that many. :)

(but if you game or watch porn all day long it might not last so long)

IIRC few live up to those specs.
And a bulb can easily cost more than a PS3.

that\'s why it\'s better to get a plasma even thought they cost a bit more but they last much longer.  At least 60,000+ hours before reaching half life.

I\'d take a good projector over any plasma, LCD or any other TV (at least for movies). :)

well if that projector doesn\'t use lamp light, then it probably a really good option.  Like LED or laser projector, but those tech are still in their infancy and the black level is still not there yet.  Actually, laser hasn\'t come out yet, but I wouldn\'t be surprise if the contrast ratio is only around 1,000:1 to 2,000:1...

Having to mörklägga your whole room/apartment each time you feel like playing Sims 2 on your projector or watching 300 Unrated Even-moar-homoerotic-version? ;)

No offense to you guys, but 32  is way too small for me. I\'ve currently got a Hitachi 51S500 50" RPTV , that is around four years old. It\'s a big hefty box, so the idea of getting a 60" that takes up less space is more than appealing. I\'d go plasma, but I refuse to pay the price for a 50" plasma.  I wish I could find a  75" RPTV that had good picture, but from what I read the Sony SRXD have the best picture of RPTVs, so I guess that is what I\'ll go for.  I\'m hopin to get it around first of March / Mid-March. Putting money back now for it, plus the $600 refund from the goverment, another $900 as a bonus from work.  Also putting back to buy a house this year, so that of course will come first.

-shrugs-

With all that said, I really can\'t complain about my current TV other than two things.

1: It takes up a lot of space.

2: It only does 1080i.

Oh don\'t feel paranoid, G. I just love ya\'. I came across that post and put two and two together.

I\'d do ANYTHING to watch that version of 300. ;)

Raz, like Fastson I sit like two meters from my TV so 32" is fine. I can\'t really fit a bigger TV anyway (and I don\'t want a big box like I said) so it all works out in the end. :)

Hmm....why upgrade if your current hdtv is doing fine?  why not spend your money elsewhere.

When you said 1080i and take a lot of space, I am pretty that is CRT RPTV.  So, it should have really good black and contrast ratio.

unless you don\'t mind replacing the lamp life every 2,000 to 3,000 hours for the Sony SXRD RPTV.  the SXRD does also have really good black and contrast ratio too...but to spend $300 to replace the lamp every 3,000 hours of usage can be pricey.
