I should have jumped on the walmart deal last week where they were giving 100 bucks back in a gift card. I haven\'t really seen anything out there for Blu Ray give aways or anything cheaper than 399. Other than of course Target which will give you 10% for opening a credit card. You guys know of anything? I\'ve done the typical deal searches and haven\'t seen anything.
-
the blu ray deals have actually been pretty shitty the last while that i\'ve been paying attention...the best deal i got was 2 movies for 30 bucks (black hawk down and the departed). Amazon, best buy, and frys are the best places ive found to look for blu ray deals.
console deals i would think are really rare. That walmart one was the only one i\'ve ever seen. Mightve been some random 50-buck-off deals every now and then but nothing i know of
-
Yeah, it\'s really rare to find any kind of deal on any current generation console. They pretty much just cost what they cost, same everywhere you go.
Don\'t tell me a big time television mogul like yourself cant afford a ps3?
-
This could be why you\'re not finding a deal on that ps3...

I still have no regrets,....but with all the price shuffling, different platforms & the pigheaded arrogance at sony early on with the launch with this thing....i knew something was going to bite them later on....and from the very start i knew that the price was seriously going to hurt them. I still say that i would be happy if the ps3 just played games and that\'s it.
But Sony & MS are tryin\' real hard to have the all in one system,..so i guess it\'s too late to turn back now...i can only imagine how much the next console will cost,..sony can regroup some of the losses thru some of their other ventures,... movie studios/electronics,....but last gen the ps2 accounted for i think 30 - 40% of thier overall revenue,...so this news is still a bit concerning,...but i\'m sure the folks at sony already knew this being that they forcasted losin\' money on this thing even at the $600.00 prive tag...
I think ms is still losin money on it\'s 360 as well,..but obviously ms can afford not to make a profit and it wouldn\'t hurt them as much as sony, since they obviously have deeper pockets.

In Europe you can find the 40GB model with Motorstorm, Uncharted and an extra controller

Integration of many of these features are very low cost to implement. Hardware are evolving to handle such features easily with less cost so implementation is becoming more and more software based. Even if you strip down 360 from its media entertainment features, HW costs wouldnt have lowered considerably. You d still pay more for the more advanced hardware to handle better sound, physics and graphics.
The arcade version of the 360 for example is near Wii\'s price.
It was Blu Ray that played a large factor into increasing the price of the PS3 which is new technology and had low supply issues. As the production process becomes more efficient Blu Ray drives will cost around as much as DVD drives
Also integration of various technologies or features may actually result to cost savings.
In the next generations you could be seeing consoles having even more functions than todays consoles at the same price.

if i remember correctly, i think it took sony like 2 years since the launch of ps2 for them to see profit? or it\'s 3 years? they lost money on the ps2 on the first year. then they break even on the 2nd year, and on the 3rd year is where the profit coming in i think...
the ps3 which has the blu ray drive which is new at the time cost them more than the ps2 with the dvd drive because the dvd player had been out for 3 years before the launch of ps2. Seeing Sony losing money on the first 2 years for the ps3, maybe on the 3rd year, they might be able to break even, and make profit on the 4th year.

Yeah I was completely looking at yen.
Fucking Japs.

Microsoft Net income - $14.065 Billion (2007)
Sony Net Income - $3.694 billion (2007)
Actually he does.
-
Thread jacking: Exxon - $2.5B a month.
-
bummer. I buy a lot of shit, but it\'s all company related. I don\'t buy very much for myself.
-
Should of really jumped on it when you received six free Blu Ray\'s. I done it right before that whole deal died and am happy I done it. Granted, I haven\'t watched any of those six Blu rays, but damnit, they were free.
-
tehre was only one of those deals i liked..the other few had all the good movies on one row, but you could only pick one, then you were stuck with some other row with a crappy selection.
do you get most of your blu rays on amazon?
been wanting there will be blood but the damn thing doesnt drop below 27 bucks
-
Funny how you\'ll spend 27 bucks to take your chick/family to a theater, but to own the movie it sounds outrageous.
-
with the theater you\'re paying for the screen/sound/seat.
I just never watch a movie more than once in a year, so i dont want to spend the much on it. 18 bucks seems like a fair price, which a lot of blu ray\'s are.
I\'ve never been into buying movies though

You also pay for bad, dusty prints/cell phones/noisy people eating pop corn/dude kicking you in the back of the seat/kids/people getting up to go pee/talking/etc.etc.etc.

exact reason i dont even remember the last movie i saw in the theater besides iron man.

I\'ve really come to hate going to the movies in the past few years. People annoy me enough just being alive, I don\'t want to have to go try and watch a movie with them.
-
I don\'t know, I use to go every weekend when I was growing up, but then movie prices went up and the movies generally sucked, so I quit going. On the other hand, this year has been a stellar year for movies and I\'ve found myself seeing a lot of movies on opening night or opening weekend. It just all depends on the movie, I guess.
-
I still love going to the movies, but not on opening night. If I did there would be a trail of dead teenagers in my wake.
I\'m 22 and I find that people who are 4 or 5 years younger than me generally push my patience to the limit.

Too funny......yea..i feel the same way. I hardly ever go to the movies anymore...mainly because of the movies themselves....i think the last time i was truly ever excited to go to the movies was when batman the movie came out...:p....other than that, i\'ll just wait for the movie to come out on dvd,...since the movie industry is so worried about the bootleg version,...movies today are released to dvd faster than they\'ve been in years...
There was a time when you had to wait a looong time for a movie to be released to dvd...and vhs for that matter too...:p
-
I think piracy is the major reason that discourages people from going to the movies.
It is dead easy to find a movie and download it

If I\'m going to watch a movie, I want to be able to enjoy it instead of watching some shitty quality on my computer chair. I can\'t get comfortable. I need to be in a theater with a friend or a date or sitting on my couch with a good sound system. Otherwise, what\'s the point of the movie?

lol, totally. every time i\'d see a movie i loved in the theater i would think "im going to buy that right when it comes out"...then by the time it got to vhs or dvd (i was late getting into dvd\'s) i\'d forget the movie existed

You can find them in DVD quality. People download them, burn them on disks and then watch them on their TVs

Yeah it\'s true...i don\'t want to advocate this since it\'s probably wrong to be doin\' that stuff,..but i have this site that i go to where i can just watch them without downloading it,...and the quality is crystal clear...i even watched some of the new hulk movie on this site....i\'ve done this while at work tho when i was bored....still i\'d prefer to rent the dvd and watch it in the comfort of my home.

Yeah but I still find discrepencies between the online DVD quality you find on the internet and an actual DVD. I downloaded Braveheart just because I wanted to watch it one night and didn\'t have a car to go off campus to rent it. The quality was good until the fight scenes when the movie completely slowed down. I\'ve noticed the same thing on many movies I\'ve downloaded that were "DVD quality". I haven\'t checked out those sites where you stream yet so I can\'t judge them but I don\'t think its the same as buying or renting a DVD and putting it in my player. When computers can talk to my TV, I may embrace the streaming technology or pay for download but as of now, there is something about buying the movie and owning a hard copy.

Well I didnt have any problems yet with the movies I watched. They were very good. A friend of mine has provided me with lots of movies. I stream them on my TV and I must say that the majority of them looked just as good as the DVD\'s I rented. :)
Perhaps I am less picky thus I dont notice the problems in quality. Even so, you as Titan may demand the best possible quality but movie downloads are becoming a bigger and bigger trend with others. With high Internet speeds movie downloads are routine even if someone didnt plan it at first, and the quality is improving. I recently downloaded Jin-Roh in Blu Ray high def quality. It was pretty stunning.
-
Maybe I\'m just picky because I\'m a tv/film major so I tend to be a pain in the ass about that sort of thing :)

if you have problems with google (which you do), you might have a hard time finding quality downloads. The handful i\'ve seen have been pretty good
