Title: Wall-e
Post by: GmanJoe on June 30, 2008, 07:03:03 AM
Another Pixar great. Pixar has got to be the most consistently good studios out there, imo.

Anyone else see this? It\'s two hours. Not for toddlers with a 1/2 hour attention span.

Hmm...surprised to hear that. It\'s not a super-adventure like The Incredibles. This has quite a few messages that most kids won\'t get.

I thought it was great, funny, and well thought out. And yeah, there are a lot of messages that little kids won\'t get, but the movie is still great.

And you should see it yourself anyway, JOP. Every little kid I saw that came out of the theater with their parents were saying "I love WALL-E!"... so who knows? You might like it.

I didn\'t think it was boring at all, but I guess it\'s a love it or hate it movie. Point is... go see it and be the judge for yourself.

there were more robots than johnny-5 and they all looked the same...so it was the movie\'s design itself.

don\'t question my short circuit knowledge..lol

Loved it, probably my favourite Pixar movie yet.

Crazy how far the animation has come since Toy Story.

All in all, given Pixar\'s track record I don\'t even need trailers for their movies and I still go see them.

Also saw Wanted, which was fun and did not suck nearly as much as I thought it would.

I think Toy Story was amazing for its time. I still look at that and wonder how they did that back in 1995. Probably something really simple :)

Wall-E was a masterpiece. Emotionally engaging, funny, and all of the technicals were in place. (soundtrack, art, etc)

I just saw Wall-E and it was pretty good.  Not the instant classic some are saying it is, but altogether good and entertaining.

SPOILER (highlight to read):

I thought at the end when Eve couldn\'t get Wall-E to respond to her, this was going to be a "smart" ending.  I thought it would be a good time to remind all the kiddies that these characters really are just machines, and they don\'t have souls or whatever.  You just replace a memory module, and they forget what they used to know.  Unfortunately, it didn\'t work out that way.  Wall-E somehow "woke up" and remembered Eve spontaneously for no apparent reason.  It was a little disappointing to me.

I was happy to see that the film was a little bit subversive.  I hope it gave some of the adult viewers a tiny message to think about.  I\'m speaking primarily of the rotund parents who waddled into the theater and then waddled out at the end.

I have to agree about this part.

loved wall-e having  the old mac bootup sound

the first 30 minutes were defiantly more interesting than the last 90.
