Obama gave a really good speech on his Patriotism today...good stuff...now i did read about what Gen.Wesley Clark said of McCain & i agree.....just because you served in the military doesn\'t automatically make you qualified to be prez...what i\'m more surprised about is how MCcCain is attacking Obama for it...
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/30/obama-rejects-clarks-statement/
"I know that General Clark is not an isolated incident but I have no way of knowing how much involvement Sen. Obama has in that issue," he told reporters. "I know he has mischaracterized some of my statements in the past including our involvement in Iraq but I\'ll let the American people decide about that. "
So now he(McCain) thinks Obama sent the general to talk about him like that?......again Obama cannot control what these people say,..i guess if anybody states anything negative towards him, Obama must\'ve obviously paid them to say it...with that type of such simple juvenille logic & thinking.....yea McCain doesn\'t deserve to be prez....go change yer depends!!...
-
Yeah, but Obama\'s black.

Military Generals=bad presidents.
Thats my take,

George Washington, Eisenhower and Grant were decent presidents.
Unic, it\'s best to keep quiet so we just wonder how stupid you are. By opening your mouth, you pretty much convinced us that, in fact, you are stupid.

So...who\'s the modern general that was a bad American President that you are comparing them to?
-
So...who\'s the modern general that was a bad American President that you are comparing them to?
Comparing? I do not compare
I can use my judgment based on the current situation, political affairs, goals etc whether you like it or not. And I dont care if you dont.
-
If you don\'t have a reference point on which to judge why a military general would be a bad president, you have no argument. Throwing out vague generalities only confirms that you in fact, know nothing.
-
Its up to me if I want to share them depending on the attitude and preconception of my interlocutor.

That\'s almost as dumb as saying that all people of Cyprus are stupid. At least I have a reference point: you.

And you fail miserably to avoid offending someone when you disagree with him in a conversation.
I dont care what you think of me. Or if you suffer from some kind of inferiority complex and are in a desperate need to insult me to feel better.
Anyways. I just provided you with another post of mine for you to spend your life on. :thumb:

Great.
Another thread where Uni displays just how stupid one person can truly be.

Very articulate. This is why I can\'t be president. Dictator? yes. President? no.

Grant was historically considered a pretty incompetent president. They say his presidency was filled with corruption because of the people he appointed in his cabinet. But in terms of him personally, he was considered decent. I dunno. Just what I learned.

Its up to me if I want to share them depending on the attitude and preconception of my interlocutor.
Translation: I don\'t know what i\'m talking about so i\'ll skirt circle around the explanation until the thread dies.
And yes, Titan is correct, Grant was a terrible president, but that is because he let his cabinet run the show and they were all completely and utterly corrupt. But I guess the key thing is, how many of these generals lead the country into another war? Eisenhower ENDED the korean war.
Oh and I see you found thesaurus.com

But McCain wasn\'t a general....?
-
Welcome to the veer off-topic train. Unicron threw us off course about 3 posts in.
I\'m not a huge fan of Clark, but his statements are pretty much spot on. Its a shame Obama has to be thrown into it seeing as he has nothing to do with Clark\'s statement.
-
Translation: I don\'t know what i\'m talking about so i\'ll skirt circle around the explanation until the thread dies.
I wish I could pull of mistranslations out of my ass too. :(
There is absolutely no room for me to participate when I am being insulted and you arent as concerned to see an explanation of my perspective but wait for my next reply to attack me since impressions have already been set about me.
Under what state of mind can I pull myself to explain to someone who calls me stupid immediately, doesnt care to see why I think that and tells me to shut up? I know the outcome already if I try to. It wont lead anywhere.
-
Never took a side in the whole Unigate saga and i\'m not taking a side now but he does have a point.
If I knew I was going to be insulted regardless of whatever my reply was, I would have no desire to explain myself every time I posted either.

Yea....I never had a problem with Uni, and he\'s been taking a beating by some members in here,..i mean yeah sometimes it\'s funny,..but if the guy is giving an honest response to a thread,..and he\'s being insulted on EVERY occassion, then yeah it does start to get a bit tired.
That said tho, Uni,..i\'ve read every post in this thread and with the exception of your last post,...and i don\'t have a clue as to what the f**k you\'re talking about..

He makes silly statements. And you know how we are. It\'s not Uni, it happens to everyone. It\'s just that Uni tends to say silly things more often than anyone else. Most of us do. But we\'re not serious. Uni makes silly but serious statements.

I would work harder to be taken seriously instead of just proving to everyone that I was just a blabbering idiot. But I guess we\'re just two different people :shy:

He gets insulted because he\'s a damn idiot.

Clark\'s comments were over the top. Obama\'s campaign had Clark say that because Obama, not having any military experience couldn\'t say it himself. McCain is qualified for many other reasons besides his military service. Experience in the Senate... what has Obama done while in office again??? Can someone tell me?
What his military service does show is his commitment to this country. That is really what Clark was going after since his man can\'t even compare to McCain on that level. Obama\'s patriotism is still in doubt by a lot of people. Not wearing a flag pin, not holding his hand over his heart, his wife\'s comments... the list goes on and on.
I just hope Obama\'s minions keep these kind of attacks up - makes Obama look sillier than he already is.
As for Unicron... back up your statement with facts or shut the hell up. Maybe in your joke of a country military generals make bad presidents... it doesn\'t apply here. As others have pointed out the US has had its share of ex Generals being president including our first President, who did an excellent job. Core also pointed out that McCain was not a General, so that makes your whole argument void.

You mean you actually believe Obama sent him out to say that?.......i understand being part of a party, but BLINDLY believing anything they say is absoultely absurd...i thought you\'d be smarter than that giga....damn...even when Obama stated he didn\'t remember wright ever talking like that...even I stated "c\'mon now Obama, maybe you don\'t agree with him, but at some point i think you might\'ve known that he had some type of strong opinionated views".
And let\'s not forget McCains right hand men...Black & Liberman...who are using terror tactics to get McCain elected...Black stated..."if the united states had another terror attack it would only help John McCain"....why because of his experience??...yeah...i\'m sure McCain will pick up an AK and be ready to hit the battlefield......and hoping for another attack on american soil is truly sick in my eyes..is this guy an idiot or what?...that\'s sheer nonsense....
Or how about your boy Liberman...."the u.s.will most likely be attacked in 2009 or 2010?" because he states that terrorists will test the new president quickly?...he too then goes on to say,.."and John McCain will be up to the challenge because of his "experience".....truly hilarious....just stop while yer ahead,..cause the republicans are diggin\' themselves deeper and deeper and looking really desperate using these scare tactics...sad really...with the shape the u.s. economy is in,...y\'know the no 1 issue in america right now,..these guys aren\'t concerned about that,..they are only concerned about when and if the u.s. has another terror attack,...when all else fails in the republican party,...resort to scare tactics...
Experience doesn\'t matter when it comes to the terrorists,..whoever the prez is, will have a set of rules and regulations to enforce in general if we do *god forbid* have another attack....now maybe Obama & McCain might have some things slightly different here or there but overall if something happened, both would respond to the disaster in similar fashion,...because neither one of them is going to suit up and hunt for the guys who did it,....both will have access to various defensive dept\'s to use at their disposal...

I think the best thing for this country is some good old fashion Communism.

It is funny how you Obama supporters think he is above this sort of thing. Of course his campaign had Clark say those things. Stop being naive. Obama is a liar and only says things that are politically convenient, just like any other politician. He knew everything Wright stood for and not until the Press Club speech did he disown him. The Obama strategy is to have supporters do his attacking while he sits back and denounces it - to make him look like a better person. The sad thing is all the people who buy it.
Obama\'s policies will make the economy worse. Wanting to raise taxes to fund more wasteful government programs in a recessions is idiotic.
Also, you fail to see the facts - Lieberman is not a Republican. He was a Democrat until the party stabbed him in the back so he became independent.
Keep drinking your Kool-Aid clips. Obamamessiah has you thoroughly under his spell.
The fact is I trust McCain a hell of a lot more than Obama when it comes to having a finger on the button. After all, Obama wants to get rid of all our nukes, regardless of what the Russians and Chinese do. He will gut our military, worse than Clinton did - to a point where we won\'t even be able to defend ourselves. He won\'t spend money on Defense research and other programs that have kept us having the number one military in the world.
Again I ask, what has Obama done that makes him qualified to lead this country? Come on answer the question. You can\'t because the guy is clueless and you and your fellow Obamatons are too wrapped up in "hope and change".

My God...
You are such a crybaby and couldn\'t lose anymore dignity here...
After GMan asked you a simple question, it took you 5 replies before you whined about how there\'s no point for you to participate in this debate, one that you started...
Either answer and debate or just don\'t reply at all and further derailing the thread...

Something didn\'t quite sit right about the comments Clark made regarding McCain\'s military service so I did a little digging...
From the 2004 DNC Convention
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A25727-2004Jul29.html
CLARK IS A HYPOCRITE
CLARK: John Kerry has heard the thump of enemy mortars. He\'s seen the flash of the tracers. He\'s lived the values of service and sacrifice. In the Navy, as a prosecutor, as a senator, he proved his physical courage under fire. And he\'s proved his moral courage too.
John Kerry fought a war, and I respect him for that. And he came home to fight a peace. And I respect him for that, too.
John Kerry\'s combination of physical courage and moral values is my definition of what we need as Americans in our commander in chief.
So lets see according to Clark\'s wisdom - John Kerry\'s 4 months of service in Vietnam qualified him, but McCain\'s 20+ years of military service do not?
-
CLARK IS A HYPOCRITE
Quite possibly correct.
However, the offender here is Clark, not Obama. You say "Of course his campaign had Clark say those things" yet like other statements, you don\'t have any evidence to support that theory.
Meanwhile your advice to Unicron: "back up your statement with facts or shut the hell up." Maybe you should practice what you preach.
-

But why reply to someone else then? You can\'t argue with someone and then never provide the facts to back them up. You end up looking like an idiot and develop a reputation like Uni obviously does.
Always though Uni was dumb, long before this whole ordeal was brought up. Doesn\'t mean i don\'t want him to stop posting, just that, well, at least TRY to back up your statements with something.
-

He wants to raise taxes on the wealthy while still giving tax cuts to folks who make under $250,000 a year....i don\'t see anything wrong with that...what\'s wrong with removing those tax breaks from the big oil companies that have profited billions each quarter?...and using those profits for gov\'t programs or for the american public?....i see no problem with that at all. Again with the way the economy is going...i guess your strategy is to wait it out,...see if the dollar will bounce back, in the meantime folks are losin their jobs,...the housing sector is a mess the war is costing us billions,..and you think that it\'s a wee bit unfair to see an increase in taxes for the wealthy to balance things out a bit?
And i see you still avoided my scare tactics statement,....Black is somebody that\'s very close to McCain and it was very foolish of him to make such a statement like that,..and who cares if liberman is an independent, he stood soley by McCain when McCain didn\'t know what he was talking about in terms of who was invading iraq in terms of the terrorists....in any case Liberman had to actually correct him on the facts...clark can say whatever he wants,....you keep believing that Obama is puttin\' folks out there to say stuff...keep bein sheep.
And i still agree with the fact that just because you have a military background, doesn\'t automatically qualify you for the presidency....is clark a hypocrite? maybe,..but that is not worse than stating that another terrorist attack would only benefit John McCain or stating that we\'re probably going to be attacked again around 2009/2010...because the prez will be tested early,...but according to your logic i guess McCain sent those two idiots out on his behalf to say that?......with that type of crazy talk you actually give those people that actually believe 9/11 was a staged event some firepower.
This is gettin\' long but one last point,...because he doesn\'t wear a pin,..you want to question his patriotism?..that is laughable,..i don\'t wear flag pin at all, but i guess i\'m not a patriot or proud of my country?....or in one snapshot he didn\'t have his hand on heart saluting?....he was clearly listening to the girl sing the song....people are really reaching with such idiotic stories....really to question his patriotism based on the notion that he doesn\'t wear a flag pin?....some folks in america have the intelligence of a doorknob...
Again not likin\' the guy for his policies i can roll with,..but stating stupid s**t like "uhm i\'m not votyin\' for him because he doesn\'t wear a flag pin or he didn\'t salute the flag"...is just a cover up for some underlying racial themes some feel about him...and it\'s true,..some white folks have already stated that they won\'t vote for him because of his race,..and to those folks that feel that that way i say fuck"em!

Sort of the same way 98 percent of blacks are voting for Obama - and you trying to say race has nothing do with that? Fuck them too for voting on someone bases on race. I wouldn\'t doubt his campaign sent Clark to do that - obviously you know nothing about politics. Can I prove it? Nope.
Scare tactics? Hardly... I have never felt scared of a terrorist attack... I just feel McCain is better suited to respond if something does happen.
I don\'t like Obama for his policies, the friends he keeps and from what I view his lack of patriotism. Fuck him.
Oh and fuck the "black national anthem" too. You all need your own anthem? What a joke. That is for another topic though.

I know a good therapist. Need me to recommend it? You\'ve got a lot of anger.
Personally, I\'m glad we only go through this whole process every four years. It brings the absolute worst out of people. Not to mention, in the end does it really matter? Any single person elected into office is going to be a liar. It\'s what they do. They lie to achieve something. Fuck, if I was them - I would to! I\'d lie and then do me some interns. Maybe that\'s why I loved Clinton so much? He just seemed like a guy you could hang out with and watch porn.
What this country needs is some damn good old fashion communism. However, since that is not an option, I will most certainly vote for Obama, because (A) I\'m not a racist and I like black people and (B) I don\'t like old white men. They creep me out. So, yes, that is how I will vote and my whole logic on why I am voting for Obama. God fuckin\' bless this country. Or something like that.
-
Most blacks are democrats. So if Hobama was a republican I doubt if he\'d have all the negro vote.
-

He broke out the \'N\' word!
This shit is going harsh now. Next thing I know people are going to be wearing white hoods and watching \'Song of the South\'!

That is such a weak argument....I guess when Al Sharpton was going for the presidency 98% of blacks were votin\' for him too right?......I think you remember not even I supported Al Sharpton,..it came down to Kerry & Bush...and i even told you that bush was the stronger candidate imo in that election year. Seriously i\'m not throwin\' the race card around,..it\'s being thrown around in the news..."is america ready for a black prez?"...in 2008 you really shouldn\'t have to ask that question...and maybe race does have something to do with most blacks votin\' for him,..but i think most of it is because he\'s a fresh new face,...and he came at the american public from a different angle.
Whether he turns out to be your average politician remains to be seen, but how can hillary voters just do a 360 and just vote for McCain....when Obama & Hilllary\'s policies are so similar?...the only reason they give is that..they don\'t like him....that\'s bulls**t...me?...if Obama wasn\'t the nominee i would have no problem votin\' for hillary....since both policies are practically the same. Again when it\'s all white candidates,...black folks don\'t have a problem at all votin\' for that particular white candidate. You never heard anybody from the media say s**t like "is black america going to vote for any of the white candidates?" I\'m just sayin\' this because of what i\'ve seen of people actually say on tv that was race was a factor when it was asked of some white folks in the media.
It\'s just the way the media spins the way they say that Obama is really going to have to jump thru hoops to get the white vote,...just based on the fact that some won\'t vote for him at all based on his race....when at the same time when there were all white candidates,..this conversation never even existed...yes most candidates go out to cater to each ethnic group, but not in the way that media states in how Obama needs to get the white vote.
The black national anthem?...i guess you\'re referring to that chick who sang that song instead of the star bangled banner at some event?....yeah she shouldn\'t have done that, she just wanted her 15 minutes of fame....but i don\'t feel like gettin\' into all of that with BNA, because that just extends back to the racial unjustice of afri americans thru slavery and the civil rights movement....i agree it was done in bad taste, but there is a reason why that song exists today,...and listen to the lyrics of that song"lift every voice & sing",..it\'s not just for black folks,..it really is talking about everybody.
Oh and define lack of patriotism....if you\'re still referring to that flag pin scenario & the hand over his heart scenario,..you are seriously reaching...

This country sure isn\'t what it used to be when people start voting for a guy they know nothing about, and what they do know they choose not to see.
You are probably right Vid, but I find it amusing when reporters go out and ask black people who they are voting for and why, it is always "Obama, because he is black." They don\'t even know the platform he is running on... then again I don\'t think Obama does either.

You know exactly what I am talking about. Reverend Wright, Michelle Hobama and Ayers comments. You are a reflection of the company you keep. Throughout Obama\'s adult life he has actively sought out friends, teachers and mentors who are marxists or who border on that ideology.

I\'ve yet to hear someone say they are voting for Obama simply because he is black. Honestly, I think you are making a bigger deal out of this than anyone.
Let\'s face reality. People will vote for whom they are most comfortable with. It only makes sense that African American\'s will feel more comfortable with an African American nominee. So guess what? They vote for that person. We won\'t even get into the whole policy and what not. Just look at it as a human perspective. You go with what makes you feel the most comfortable or safe. If we had a hispanic Nominee - the hispanics would vote for him.
If anything, I find it pathetic that in the year 2008 (almost 2009!) we are still having this discussion.
Then again , I don\'t understand why you guys get so upset with politics. Just let people vote for who they want to vote for. You want to vote for McCain? Go for it. Clips wants to vote for Obama? Go for it! Guess that just takes away from the fun of politics, eh?

For me personally maybe on some level race is a factor,...but it probably really is a small factor, because when Al Sharpton & that other afri. american woman was going for the presidency,..i didn\'t support either of them because i felt they were kinda weak,...so maybe with Obama race wasn\'t a factor at all it just how different he executed his message....in short if it was all about race,..at least in my situation..i would\'ve supported either Sharpton or that other lady...i\'ll vote for the person that i feel is most qualified to get the job done..regardless of color...in that presidential race i supported bush,..even tho i consider myself a dem.
Reverend wright was definitely a sore spot for obama, but McCain has also tried to distance himself from a controversial pastor as well...it\'s just that wright received more press,...and go watch the whole version of that speech with wright,..he was actually quoting another white person when he was stating all of that gibberish,..but of course i\'m sure you will ignore that fact...
Michelle\'s comments was taken out of context....alot of people look for things that aren\'t even there.
Hmm..How unpatriotic is it to wish for a terrorist attack on the u.s. just for the sake of getting your candidate elected? I would question McCains,Black & liberman patriotism...for even mentioning that.....again according to your logic McCain must\'ve sent Black out to make such idiotic comments on his behalf correct?...so who\'s really looking more unpatriotic right now?....that\'s right, your boy McCain...

Oh shit.
He broke out the \'N\' word!
This shit is going harsh now. Next thing I know people are going to be wearing white hoods and watching \'Song of the South\'!
We went to a fourth of July Parade today and one of the floats had three beat up trucks with rednecks. Had some kid walking behind looked half dead from the heat toating a rebel flag. So cute.
