See if this works.. There\'s a video of someone doing a song on GH3... It looks impossible, but he pulls it off somehow.

Through Fire and Flames on expert is fucking ridiculous. I haven\'t even bothered to attempt it.
I find when songs are too hard in Guitar Hero it requires me to sit down and concentrate. Which interrupts me jumping around like a jackass pretending to be a rock god.

That might be fake.
I know he\'s using "hyperspeed" which is a cheat of some sort. I dont really understand how it works but I know it makes it easier somehow.
Also in the beginning he plays way too many notes without hitting the strum bar. I\'m almost positive you can only hit 2 or 3 notes untill you have to strum again.
I could be wrong though.

I don\'t know what the hyperspeed cheat is but his version definatley seems to be moving faster than the normal version
Also why didn\'t the guy film his video from the front so people could actually see him play. I call shenanigans.

Yeah thats what it does...
I don\'t understand it at all but somehow making it go faster makes it easier? Sounds crazy.

It spaces the notes out in some manner, where you can actually play the notes before the are played. I\'m not a 100 percent sure on how it works, but from what I\'ve read that is what makes it easier. Basically, you are allowed to be a lot more sloppy in your overall playing.

Is that song really 8 minutes long? And does that video purport that he actually got 100% on expert level? If so, then I believe that he is cheating somehow.
I am finding Guitar Hero increasingly stupid and frustrating. If I\'m going to spend the time required to master something on expert level, I\'d rather learn to play it on a real guitar. In many cases, I think that would also be easier. I know for a fact that many of the simpler songs are made more difficult for GH than they are in reality.

Very true. A couple of the songs in guitar hero I can actually play on real guitar.
On the harder levels they throw notes in there that aren\'t in the song, just to make it harder.
GHIII is just stupid hard in some spots, and no fun to play because of it.

out of curiosity and because I know your a guitarist cored, but what is your opinion of herman li?

Guitar Hero III is the reason Guitar Hero itself is failing. Activison took the game and upped the difficulty to absurd levels, simply to do it.

Well having an alternative like Rock Band which is much more accessible than GHIII didn\'t help activision.

you mean you guys aren\'t excited about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith?
who wouldn\'t love playing 40 Aerosmith songs back to back...seriously...

You\'d be surprised how many people actually are willing to buy that....Was talking to a girl the other night who was super excited for it. Rock Band might have, in my opinion, the better gameplay, but Guitar Hero still certainly holds king as far as brand recognition.

I didn\'t know who he was, and never heard this song before today. Now that I\'ve looked at his page on wikipedia, I\'m becoming more curious. Any band named DragonForce can\'t be all bad. :)
Kinda reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Rock Star featuring Mark Wahlberg as the lead singer for Steel Dragon.

Rock Band I think is a better game than Guitar Hero. GH3 wasn\'t bad but I thought the first and second were better.

I love GH3, although I too think the, say, ten hardest songs on expert are impossible. I\'m simply unable to move my fingers that fast :(
the cheat you guys are talking about only allows for the notes to be spaced out more, so they don\'t look so cluttered when there\'s lots of them, the downside is that you shorten the time you get for looking ahead for what\'s coming at you... I wouldn\'t call that cheating personally, although there\'s an other cheat which allows for worse timing to still be considered accurate, don\'t know if he uses it... Still even if he does and this vid is not fake it is a great effort....
btw Luke, it\'s definitely possible to play more then two or three hammer-on\'s or pull-off\'s at a time. They are easy to spot, since the notes that can be played that way glow much brighter in the game...

Yeah the guy in that vid probably isn\'t cheating, actually.
The untouchable difficulty of GH3 kept me from being interested in that one. Aerosmith interested me because it just seemed like more fun and I was excited by the band\'s involvement, and it does also split the song list with other bands.
Rock Band is the way to go right now, but the next Guitar Hero is going to move right in on its territory, and then there\'s the next game from Konami which will crowd stores even further. EB won\'t have any retail space left over...
Will the music fad die out?

I\'m sure it will. But then again who knows? Maybe in 5 years well have some seriously fancy music games.
And rock band is the shit. As a drummer who cant play due to living in an apartment its the closest I get to playing drums without buying a really expensive electronic kit that I don\'t even want.
I gotta say, on expert, playing drums in rock band takes some very real drumming skills.
Always fun impressing my friends playing Tom Sawyer on expert. Highest I\'ve gotten is a 97%.
