Title: Atlantic City & The Plain White T\'s
Post by: Eiksirf on July 07, 2008, 09:24:12 AM
Got back home at like 3am last night. I took my girlfriend up to A.C. for the concert. Plain White T\'s is her favorite band and this was my first real concert. She had a blast. I liked it, too. The frontman can really sing and he has good stage presence. I know the band caters to teeny bopping girls, but when you get past that, it\'s a lot of fun.

The show was at the House of Blues, so it was like the band was playing in your living room.

Before that we spent the day on the beach, playing slots and hanging out. She took me to Ripley\'s Believe it or Not which was pretty cool. They have one hallway where an optical illusion circling the walkway makes you lose your balance. The only way to stand up straight is to fixate on the grate beneath your feet. Pretty cool.

Just thought I\'d share. It was like a mini-vacation and I\'m having withdrawals at work, heh.

Thanks for the advice, but I\'ll hold off for now.

To be fair, she found them years ago when no one knew who they were.

But that\'s the kind of music she likes. She was into Hinder for a little while. Nickelback. She was a Blink 182 fan, too. But Plain White T\'s is her favorite.

I like them, too, even if most of the material is a little too "my-girlfriend-broke-up-with-meeee!!"

Were they ever supposed to be cool? Being cool is part of feeling great with yourself. Not suicidal.

Where are the good old times when we had the original Punks and Goths? These were cool

Hey there Delilah
What\'s it like in New York City?
I\'m a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Time Square can\'t shine as bright as you
I swear it\'s true

Hey there Delilah
Don\'t you worry about the distance
I\'m right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it\'s my disguise
I\'m by your side

Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I\'ll pay the bills with this guitar
We\'ll have it good
We\'ll have the life we knew we would
My word is good

Hey there Delilah
I\'ve got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I\'d write it all
Even more in love with me you\'d fall
We\'d have it all

Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me
Oh it\'s what you do to me

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they\'ve got planes and trains and cars
I\'d walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we\'ll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you\'re to blame

Hey there Delilah
You be good and don\'t you miss me
Two more years and you\'ll be done with school
And I\'ll be making history like I do
You know it\'s all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here\'s to you
This ones for you

Oh it\'s what you do to me!
Oh it\'s what you do to me!
Oh it\'s what you do to me!
Oh it\'s what you do to me!

that song is actually quite good to me.  wouldn\'t say its horrible though.  I heard many songs that are way worst and these songs are way too repetitive.  Say, if the song is like only 1 minute long, they repeat the same part, or line over, over, and over again to make it last 4 minutes long.

btw, that guy\'s voice sounds really good.  really pleasant, and nice falsetto he did when he sang, "oh, its what you do to me."  and "oh, oh, oh, oh..."

but i am a sucker when anybody can sings falsetto.

Never heard of him.  this is the first time i heard of Andy Gibb.  So I looked it up on the internet and it said he died from cocaine addiction...wow.

I never heard of this Plain White T either.  Not until I read through this thread and watched the video clip that you embedded.  Again, in my opinion, that song is quite good, not great.   But quite good.  the style of this song and the vocal remind me of the songs that the beatles wrote and sang back in the days.   Where some of the songs from the beatles I found quite good, with a rare few songs that are great.  But Many of it were average or mediocre.

Music is just music. Idiots fight over music taste, while we know since woodstock that music doesn\'t better the world nor bridges world differences.

All songtexts are just a little over pretentious.  Heck, humans and their languages (the "Almighty WORD") are overrated too. Don\'t take it too seriously, all the time, just enjoy a tune which fits you.

He was a bit odd.  It was hilarious hearing all the girls cheering for him when it\'s obvious he\'s gay.  He took it all in stride though.  He mostly just went though his set without talking much and i was pretty damn far away so i couldn\'t catch any weird mannerisms.

It was just the right kind of song. Like when Greenday plays for years but then makes one slow enough with Time of Your Life, it ends up on all kinds of different radio stations. This song can fit in on all kinds of stations, so it\'s stuck around.

Maybe before he plays it in concert he should preface it with "now let\'s pay the bills..."
