I got Civilization Revolution for the 360 and DS the other day. Haven\'t tried it yet, but am curious. I\'ve never played them for PC and I\'ve read about the 360 version that it\'s been successfully stripped down to work with a gamepad on a console while still being engaging. Anyone try it?

I have it on the PS3. sorta like a Micky Mouse version of Civ4. It\'s cute but missing a few key functions that the PC/Mac versions have for Civ4.

I\'ve played all the "Sid Meier" Civilization games except IV, and I recently bought the boxed set containing all of them. I installed IV, and I really don\'t like it as much as the earlier versions. It\'s just too pretty. Too many animations, and I really don\'t like the way ground units are represented by 3 individuals + a flag. It looks cluttered and confusing.
I really like the graphical simplicity of II and III. For me, I think the game reached it\'s peak in III.
I was considering this "Revolutions" console game, but I\'m afraid it\'s just a console version of IV. If so, I\'m not really interested. Also, I\'m concerned that it will be too annoying to control the game through the Xbox controller. I use a keyboard frequently to rename cities.

I also like Civ2 the best. But Civ4 has some factors I like such as absorbing countries that capitulate over to your kingdom. Kinda like what will happen to Canada. ;)

I actually liked 3 the best (never played IV), because it took many of the things I loved about Civ II and expanded upon them in good ways. I especially love the whole \'national border\' concept, which if utilized properly, would prevent the thing about Civ II I hated most: If you had one square of land in-between two cities that did not fall into either\'s radius, eventually one of your rivals would send a settler up there and plant a city of their own in that square.
The corruption in Civ III took a lot of the fun out of the game, because it effectively cripples a large, expansive civ, but when I play I go into the editor and change the values to significantly reduce corruption.

I downloaded the demo of this a few weeks ago, couldn\'t get the hang of it, so I let it slip away.
I wish they would release settlers, or age of empires on PS3, I loved playing both franchises.

So far I\'ve played through it a couple times on easy. I can see how it\'d be addicting, but I need to ramp up the difficulty next to really get a feel for it. Fun game, though, once you get past the learning curve.
I know someone who bought it and sold it because he probably didn\'t give himself a game or two to get the hang of it.
It takes a minute to realize it\'s not Warcraft and you don\'t need to spam soldiers. Changes the strategy.

I won all type of games on easy and war chief difficulty. Won 1 game at king difficulty. I\'ve played all the Civ game on PC. I like the PS3 version because it\'s easy "pick-up and play". Game are like 2-3 hours. It is at the same time the real problem with the game. I sometime wish it was more deepeer and complex, like it\'s PC incarnation.
Anyway, the port to the console is great. It\'s fun. I really wish this will attrack new gamers to the genre and maybe we\'ll see more turn-base and real-time strategy game for console! (with KB & mouse support though please!)
