I wonder though.... whether it\'ll hurt the game to not have bigger sized enemies, like in Gears of War or Resistance 2.

depends if it fits with the story. honestly, i was a little disappointed in the gameplay of resistance\'s giant thing. it looked amazing, but why does the thing only grab your character? and how would that not kill him? and shooting him in the mouth looked too easy. just seemed too scripted.

I was thinking the same thing when looking at these pics...well at least in terms of the enemy characters,..they look kinda short & stubby...reminds me a bit of madden football models....and this game has been in development forever...will this game even be relevant when it drops?...i\'m not into fps, but COD4 looks better than this imo...

imo graphically KillZone2 takes a hot steaming dump on COD4.  Many times over in fact...

Forever? Forever as in Too Human, which was planned for PSX, or forever as in say, slightly longer than it took to develope MGS4? Which is the case so far  (less than a year longer if it lands in Feb).

Seems to me you\'re being an overly negative nancy about a game in a genre that doesn\'t interest you.

you need to post more

btw, there are bigger enemies than those grunts. Not 300 feet tall, but probably a little more than twice as big as the grunts

True. I forgot the big baddy boss : (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fps3media.ign.com%2Fps3%2Fimage%2Farticle%2F815%2F815434%2Fkillzone-2-20070824053739326_640w.jpg&hash=aba4bb58eb7bea6f906cb25929c6a4e0c5e63420)

Besides, the enemies kind of look stubby because they\'re so packed with layered gear.

Graphics-wise between Cod4 & KZ2 ... i\'d say wait \'til KZ2 releases. Atm Cod features more variation and it\'s got this very distinct Xbox360 graphics look (if you\'re a sucker for that).
Title: KillZone2 images!
Post by: Viper_Fujax on July 29, 2008, 12:17:43 AM
yea i won\'t comment on how kz2\'s graphics are compared to other games, mainly because all i\'ve really seen are off-screen videos. there have been a few direct feed ones, but those are still more grainy than actually playing the game.

has there been any word on different stages? one place says all theyve shown is one level, so there could be more variation. but one of the developers during E3 said that the game is gritty and gray because the world is gritty and gray (or something to that affect) so im kind of expecting the same theme throughout the game. maybe theyll follow gears of war\'s path and have killzone 3 be colorful compared to 2

and what about MGS4 ? and FFXIII?  or the full GT5 ?  Doesn\'t matter how long they are in development if they will turn into beautiful games. Will they ?
We\'ll see.

And speaking about graphics all in all and tech KillZone2 blows away COD4; if you are interested I will show you all the tech about KillZone2 engine(Scale, details, lighting shading, effects, the particle engine, animations, physics and destruct-able buildings and AI.)
Anyway what I want is a solid great game-play and a very nice single-player experience.

Heh...everybody seems to be rippin\' me for my comment,..i\'ll have to go back and make another comparison,...i just remember sayin\' to myself when i first saw COD4, that "wow i\'m not into fps, but this is one nice lookin\' game"...and that i was really impressed with some of the gameplay vids i\'ve seen...

*edit*...y\'know that\'s a pretty impressive vid....and even tho the vid is low quality..i can still tell that the game has some strong visuals...

The thing is : COD4 has present day earthly settings with lots of vegetation, which it does very well.

KZ2\'s setting is the Helghast planet ; makes it more difficult to relate to, thus
it feels less \'realistic\'

You explained the way i felt about COD4 perfectly...i like the earthly settings of the game which makes it more true to life and realistic....so yeah instead of me saying the graphics are better, i should\'ve just mentioned that i like the environmental settings better..:D

Multiplayer looks GODLIKE. Didnt think it would look this good. Happy to hear it has classes like in Team Fortress 2. Could turn out to be a really solid MP-shooter.

But SP is still why I am getting the game.

Killzone 2 Preview:

Quote

In many ways, Killzone 2 is a fairly traditional FPS. The controls are basic, with shoulder buttons for firing and tossing grenades, as well as the ability to sprint, take cover, jump, and a variety of other actions. The game features a ton of weapons and emphasizes the importance of working together with your squad. Enemies work together to take you down, so helping out your allies and keeping them alive is critical to your success.

The story here picks up after that of the original, and it is clearly not a main focus of the game. It really is a typical sci-fi plot involving a brave human army fending off a massive alien-esque invasion. Oh boy! Still, players who enjoyed the pacing and storytelling of the original Killzone will be happy this time around; you\'ll again take control of Sev, a member of the Legion, and square off against the Helghast. The story is more than an excuse to shoot stuff and, as a result, is typical of most FPSs. Killzone 2 is going to be a story-driven game, and that\'s something nice in a genre where plot has been tossed aside.

The A.I. in Killzone 2 is great, to the extent that you\'re not going to be babysitting your squad mates. Keeping them alive is important (though you\'ll be able to revive them if you get close enough to a fallen comrade), but at the same time they\'ll happily help you out if you\'re in a jam. This title challenges players to be a bit smarter about their gameplay strategy: It\'s easy to die in Killzone 2 and running out with guns-a-blazing is a sure-fire way to get you killed. Taking advantage of cover and outmaneuvering the foe is the way to ensure a victory.

In a market full of FPS titles - some good and some not-so-good - Killzone 2 does have some particularly redeeming features that do a good job of making it stand out from the rest of the pack. The strong, squad-based fighting mechanics are one such item. Another is Killzone 2\'s incredibly meticulous attention to detail. The game is chocked-full of destructible environments, enemy soldiers, and tons of little touches that make Killzone 2 one of the most realistic, life-like shooters out there despite the decidedly sci-fi premise.

The wonderful visuals are a big component of this attention to detail that ensures Killzone 2 will be a blast to play. The game is full of fantastic looking environments, character animations, and particle effects, and the art direction goes a long way in creating a very believable environment for you to play in. From billowing clouds of smoke to hordes of oncoming enemies to the run-down buildings and landscapes that fill the game, Killzone 2 is a great-looking, atmospheric, and immersive title.
This game also deserves recognition for the level design. It\'s not necessarily open-ended; the original was quite a linear title and the sequel isn\'t going to do much different. But the variety of objectives and requirements throughout the game is quite impressive. For those tired of unrelenting "shoot the bad guys" set-ups, Killzone 2 promises to be a breath of fresh air. Whether you\'re jumping in and out of a tank, covering your allies, or sniping long-distance foes, Killzone 2 is sure to be a fun, varied experience.

And once you throw a fully fleshed-out multiplayer mode into the mix, you\'ve got yourself an instant hit. Killzone 2 boasts 32-player online multiplayer matches (sadly, no local multiplayer) complete with ranked and social match-ups. Achievements online are also a huge part of the experience, and there is a wide range of ranks along with specific achievements that you can obtain as you play more. Plus, there\'s also PS3 trophy support, which is great for all those who have a newfound addiction to collecting trophies. Finally, add an intelligent respawn system, more than half-a-dozen maps, several play modes, countless weapons, and an intense squad-based multiplayer shooting mechanic and the game boasts a fantastic online experience.

my main worry about teamates isn\'t them dieing, but when you\'re in a small space and they just shove you out of the way. really killed any AI teamwork that was in STALKER for me, and especially the first mission in COD4.

not really expecting revolutionary gameplay from this game, but i am a graphics whore. not like they can ruin the traditional FPS style that finally works on consoles

I played the game a few weeks back, or well a preview build of it. The game does look good. The smoke effects are second to none, truly incredible. A lot of pace and action. There were some cases of flat low res textures and some low polygon lesser models.

But it was awesome what little I tried, the gameplay was nothing revolutionary but it was good. Some clever use of the six axis.

theres a few other gameplay videos, but half of them the guy playing is retarded.

the game just looks damn fun to play. im getting RE5 (they come out the same time), but if i only had 60 bucks to spend id get KZ2 over RE

my only complaint is that the red X makes it way too easy to hip fire with accuracy. ill try to play without it, but like other aim helpers online, you usually have to use it since everyone else is

downloading the movie, and in the mean-time, for the ones interested, VGChartz impressions of KZ2.

Quote

Killzone 2 wasn\'t on my radar at all. I didn\'t play the original Killzone, heck I didn’t even own a PS2. So all this talk of Killzone 2 has somewhat passed me by. Until now that is. The first thing that struck me about Killzone 2 is that it’s stunning. It’s easily host to the best graphics I’ve seen on a console, and this is just the multiplayer aspect of the game. The character models are nicely detailed, in the multiplayer part of a game you kind of expect them to be a little bit dodgy, but here they’re actually pretty good and you can see all the little details on each character’s clothing thanks to some superb lighting and shadow effects. The rag-doll like reaction of your enemies to every bullet is superb – watching your enemy recoil with pain in a different part of the body with each and every bullet that enters him makes the experience much more engrossing than in previous shooters. Blood splatters out of, and around, every single bullet hole and your enemy actually looks like he’s being hit by bullets for a change.........

downloaded, thanks Viper, game-play really seems hell of fun.

Killzone 2 Multiplayer Hands-On

http://www.nzgamer.com/ps3/previews/701/killzone-2-multiplayer-hands-on.html

Quote
Killzone 2’s multiplayer shtick – every decent FPS must have one – is its class system. There are seven altogether, and each class can be combined with another to provide unique mishmashes, depending on your preferred style of play. You can choose from Rifleman, the weapon-heavy option, the Scout, who can cloak himself with invisibility, the Engineer, who can program and repair turrets, the Medic, the Tactician, who can toss grenades that act as spawning points, the Assault, who has extra armour, and finally the Saboteur, who can mimic the enemy and use this ability to infiltrate the opposing base. Combine any two together and voila, you’ve got an invisible medic, or a tactian who looks disturbingly like Steve from the other team.

Quote
And that’s just it; Killzone 2 multiplayer is not something you ease into, like dipping your toes into a freezing cold pool. It is as immediate and unforgiving, and hardcore gamers will revel in its brutality. For starters, it is graphically as bleak as it gets; your playground a Blade-Runneresque post-industrial nightmare. Sure, the destroyed and crumbling metropolis has been done before in sci-fi games, but never has it felt so damn oppressive or unnervingly realistic. Moving about in this world keeps you assuredly grounded in it, as your character feels weighty, and runs and guns with every inch of his bulk and heft. He feels human, and therefore vulnerable.

And indeed he is vulnerable, for gameplay in multiplayer goes like this: if your enemy spots you before you spot him, you’re dead. And it doesn’t take much to put you down – a few bullets in the general torso area will do it, and you will spend much of your time on the ground, arms flailing for help. You can get up again if a medic comes to your aid, but not once did one come to mine, and I must have respawned more than a dozen times in every battle. Conversely, if you are the one who spots your enemy first, you can put him down with the same ease. Even the introductory assault rifles are deadly.

IGN Killzone 2 Beta Impressions

Quote

Ah Killzone 2... what won\'t you do to try and fool us, you little minx. First you feed us that CG trailer and try to subtly pass it off as real footage. Pfft. What did you take us for?

Then, once the little CG rouse was up, you tried to claim that, despite the fact your trailer wasn\'t actually in-game footage, that the final game would actually run and play like said trailer. Ooh, we\'ll believe it when we see it Mister Sony man.

And now you\'ve thrown this beta our way – surely yet another wily piece of propaganda, you trickster dickster! Sure, we\'re pushing buttons, wiggling analogue sticks - and stuff is happening on screen as a result – but this isn\'t the actual game, surely! There\'s no way a console game can look this good, right - what sort of foul wizardry is this?

This can\'t be real. It simply can\'t be. Sony and Guerrilla Games couldn\'t have created an end result that (almost) matches the infamous target footage revealed at E3 all those years ago. Could they?

Well, unless our dainty little peepers are deceiving us, the answer to that question is \'yes\'. Guerrilla Games have made an absolute red hot go of trying to match up to the incredible CG footage shown in 2005. Because undoubtedly, when you first hop into the small scale beta currently doing the rounds, the first thing you notice (and by notice we mean the synapse connected to your retina splinters into a thousand microscopic pieces) is Killzone 2\'s mighty visual prowess.

Yes, the game firmly adheres to the now out of vogue palette of gritty greys and such like, but really, technically, no first person shooter we\'ve played can compete on an even keel. The texture work is crisp and detailed, and the player animations (of both yourself in the first person and everyone else on the map) are a true revelation, immediately giving Killzone 2 a high production feel from the outset.

But it\'s in the details that Killzone 2 truly accelerates towards greatness. Everything, from the detailed reload animations, to the grease and grime smeared across the sights when you click into the scope, succeeds in convincing you that, despite the sci-fi setting, you\'re taking part in a dusty, old fashioned videogame war.

The environments are equally convincing. Every acre of the three beta maps, down to the last square inch, is filled with the kind of care and attention lacking in most titles. No proverbial stone has been left unturned. There\'s no tangible, gameplay-affecting, destruction as such, but blasting away at certain pillars will cause them to crumble \'Matrix\' style adding to the intense atmospherics, giving you the very real feeling that the next bullet could be lodged in your brain.

It\'s a real achievement, and one that is extended to the map layouts themselves. Despite featuring similar aesthetics, each of the three maps works differently in terms of game dynamics. In our not-so-humble opinion, the tightly knit Radec Academy was the real standout. Despite featuring less flash than the outdoorsy-hence-prettier Salamun Market and Blood Gracht, Radec\'s intricately designed interior recalled some of the better, smaller, maps seen in CoD 4 and Halo – think Halo 2\'s Lockout cage fighting CoD 4\'s Showdown to the absolute death and you won\'t be too far off the mark.

Combining an open central area with tight corridor sections on either side, Radec Academy is a kinda symmetrical map that simultaneously allows for competitive shootouts in broad space, and the kind of cat and mouse antics that allow players to really attempt to outwit each other. It\'s an endlessly rewarding map that seems flexible in terms of the different game types featured in Killzone 2.

.............................
That being said, it\'s hard to see how anyone could deny the sheer technical achievement of the game. No online shooter in the console market could possible claim to look better than Killzone 2, or feature more atmosphere and eye for detail. We get the distinct impression that Sony, after the guffawing of the gaming community post-E3 2005, demanded that Killzone 2 match up to that infamous CG trailer - regardless of the development time or expense. What we\'re seeing and playing today is the end result of that self-righteous rage, and we absolutely love it. We reckon you\'ll be pleasantly surprised by just how well Killzone 2 looks and plays. Haters be damned – you\'d all best be prepared to chow down on a hefty serving of humble pie on this one...

any word on when the open beta starts? or at least more open...

i saw some other video of the devs demonstrating the AI and they had a guy taking cover behind a pillar that you could shoot down parts of it, and the guy would change his stance in order to stay behind the cover. and it wasnt \'1) standing up, 2) kneeling..it was like a different animation for every foot of cover. was pretty damn awesome. ill try to find it again

They have such great atmospheric daylight up in the sky intro....then .... a lot of the levels feature dark electrified skydomes    I know, probably part of the story... but somehow I suspect they wouldn\'t be able to keep up the defered rendering for a fully lit daylight level.

Killzone 2 Demo Available at GameStop January 5th

Quote

There is now a date for the Killzone 2 GameStop demo–January 5th.

Earlier this week we reported that GameStop would in fact have the demo available for pre-orders to pick up, but it was unclear when they would become available.

On the company’s official website, it clearly states when the demo will become available for in-store pre-orders to pick up. (Online pre-orders will have to wait almost a month longer for their code to arrive)

“A rave card granting access to the Killzone 2 Demo will be available in stores while supplies last beginning the week of January 5. Check with your local store for more information.”

Dutch pride !

Watch the vid :

http://www.gamekings.tv/

Motion blur on a per pixel basis confirmed : See the demonstration of this in the vid : This is why some people mistake to think in some static KZ2 screenshots, that it suffers from blurry low rez textures. Not the case ; in motion, you\'ll see it\'s purely per pixel motion blur post filter effect.

This also explains why some PC gamers do not like the visual style, since they prefer every pixel to be razor sharp ; which, imo.. is a more "game-ish" kind of look opposed to KZ2\'s movie aesthetic motion blur.

Quotes - their goal: cinematic experience. lot\'s of post-processing. they want an analogue look

- motion blur per pixel,
- noise, AA

- spu\'s are the key for optimal performance on the PS3: Deferred Rendering
- they often use all six: for full fire fights, physics, particles, mp3 streams, 7.1 audio, lighting
- they also help to render effects. 40% extra speed thanx to the spu\'s

- guns have to feel realsitic, reactions have to be realistic. hit impact system. every bullet has an effect on the surrounding or people in it
- stacked animations with real time rendered ragdoll.. and yep, blow heads off...

- every polygon has mass and material
- real time ray tracing
- holes are not a flat image of a hole
- collision detection of small particles, even sparks.. icing on the cake. will often go unnoticed while playing by a lot of people.

- 5.1 ambient mp3 streams that rotate when you rotate. on top of that stereo music, 3d sound effects, voices in the right positioning, sound filtering.. all in 7.1 uncompressed sound.

- extreme amount of lightsd. 230 lights in this screen (he\'s showinng the screen). they are proud of this level. impressive
- the robot alone has 8 lights

- tech was developed while making the game.

what fps didnt suck balls on those consoles?

theres a reason Call of duty waited till the 360 came out to make a game for console, and why rainbow six and ghost recon were a joke on console up until now

I know KZ2 wont be revolutionary but ill be pretty suprised if it\'s disappointing. if you like FPS\'s and like call of duty, this should fall right in with the crowd. the only thing that kills it is the hype. but luckily im not a sheep and can enjoy a game for what it is

Well, I mean, if we want to be honest about it.

Halo got a  lot of rave reviews.
TimeSplitters got a lot of rave reviews.
Timesplitters 2 got rave reviews.
Halo 2 got rave reviews.

Then again - I thought all of the above sucked. Along with Killzone aka "Teh Halo Killer!111!!".

Loved Halo 1 and Timesplitters when they were new.  Can\'t play them at all now (same goes for Goldeneye).

I see the appeal of those games, I didn\'t see the appeal of Killzone.  It was just a darker, muddier, slower version of halo.
Title: KillZone2 images!
Post by: Knotter8 on January 11, 2009, 08:23:27 PM
Wasn\'t it the tabloid gaming press touting Killzone 1 as "Halo killer", just to add oil to the console war debates ? ...while in fact the gameplay is nothing like it ?

I personally can\'t say for sure since I haven\'t played a Halo, but from previews it seems that Halo is way more twitch reaction based, while KZ2 is slower paced, cover + peek & shoot...
Title: KillZone2 images!
Post by: Phil on January 11, 2009, 11:23:49 PM
Halo isn\'t really twitch, quake is twitch, unreal tournament is twitch, Halo was that awkward middle-child that didn\'t know what it wanted to be when it grew up.  I\'m talking about the original mind you, haven\'t played the sequels really.

Killzone 1 fell into that category as well.

Killzone 1 multiplayer sucked ass, and really, if you\'re playing  FPS and its not a Valve game, you\'re playing it for the multiplayer.

sony doing it right...they have these reviews coming out like a month before the damn game comes out. instead of waiting for the week the game comes out they blow their load. smart

anyway, i played the demo and loved it. It\'s definitly just up there with the other good FPS\'s but its still fun (which is what i was expecting). so it\'ll definitly be another game getting run over by the hype-mobile...i dont think there\'s any way one FPS could blow all the other FPS\'s out of the water at this point

Well, it\'s always a matter of taste and opinions.  From what I understood, it has the best graphics, wonderful animations, great game-play, very strong AI and godly deep MP; for some the best FPS ever played, for others "just" a great FPS.  10 days to go for me, can\'t wait anymore.

ps: the demo is very well done, but we know, it\'s just a short demo to give an idea.   The full Game owns ;)

you have to make a new account with an EU address. So you just go to \'create new user\' on the far left, sign up for psn with a new email addy, and fill in EU information

I went to new zealand\'s yellow pages website and used an address off of that.

It sounds like a pain to do but it takes like 5-10 minutes

only played the first mission on SP..definitly a solid shooter. in terms of actual gameplay it doesnt really have anything more to offer than other shooters, but stuff like the sound and reload animations are top notch

multiplayer is pretty awesome. my only complain is that they wanted the guns to have weight so the guns are slower than other shooters, but if you try to pinpoint where you want to shoot its tough since its so sensitive if you want to move the aimer just a hue

iv also found it really tough to work as a group with people you just hop into a game with, but the few times everyones on the same page it\'s bad ass having like 6 of your guys vs 6 of theirs firefighting in a big alley

So far I\'ve only played the first couple of levels and mostly online. The games a lot of fun with a great atmosphere. So far I haven\'t found any problems with single player but online has a few things I dislike. First most of the maps feel like the same thing, there are times when I honestly can\'t tell the difference between a couple of maps. I hate how its just an open mic. Its almost impossible to have a conversation with someone because there\'s always some noisy thing going on. Also I don\'t really like the gun selection so far. But I do like how you unlock things as you rank up and how different characters come with different perks.

absolutely. i was playing with my brother and there was some tight-quarters map (which was a nade fest) and i couldnt talk to him at all because of that unless i managed to snake by everyone and get somewhere unpopulated

the only time i thought the idea of open mic and hearing people as you get close to them was cool was when i was figuring out how to put people in a squad and i had to walk behind him to tell him how to join the squad...other than that im being forced to listen to these random people online that annoy the shit out of me

why sony doesnt have separate lobbies like MS does so you can just be in a room talking to your group of people (or at least just 1) is beyond me.

I was just in a game that was like 6v6 where my team was actually able to communicate. It made the game 10x funner and we dominated.

Playing it on veteran; intense, challenging, marvellous, best PS3 game for me.
Graphics are insane, I love the atmosphere, and often I have just to stop and look at all this wonder.  Physics? first time I feel the weight in a game, everything seem to have a weight, when you walk, when you run, or jump, or the helghast moving, jumping down, their animations, death animations, the destruct-able environment, the explosions, objects flying all around, fire and smoke effects, the dust falling down, the wind, the sky with those dense clouds and scaring lightning; I\'m impressed !
AI, it\'s strong, very very strong(playing on veteran), the helghast are so smart that often I get the impressions they are like...thinking!  How they get the cover, change cover, shoot at you in cover or attack you in a so fluid and convincing way that I\'m speechless sometime.  And they work in team too.  very challenging.  The cover system is very well done, I love it, very precise, functional.

Masterpiece.

Yup Online play is by far one of the best FPS Multi i have ever played.

The random missions make for some exciting battles Esp\' when you have two teams that know what they are doing. I have spend a few Assassination missions cowering while the entire team either body gaurds me or go\'s on a last second rush to push them back out of weapons range.

I still don\'t get how to do it.  I\'ll shoot a guy like 8 times and he shoots me once and I\'m dead.  Are there areas where weapons are stored that I should be getting?  Also, is your weapon reset every respawn?

theyre getting head shots. If you\'re firing at someone thats firing at you, you usually have to aim for the head instead of trying to widdle down their health by shooting their body.

If theyre firing at one of your teamates or not even looking at you ill usually just try shooting their body and hope one of the bullets sprays up and hits them in the head.

I cant remember what i put mine on, but im pretty sure it was normal and i died a shit load of times.

definitly a difficult game. but there was only a few parts where i was getting pissed off about it...most of the time i deserved it

edit: i was really iffy about the disgusing as the opponent in MP but i take back all my negative comments. i dont know how many times i go around solo, outflank a group of guys (impossible to do with multiple people) and cant do anything about it since it takes a clip to take 1 guy down

but it\'s also not like it\'s impossible to tell who is in disguise. there\'s no light, the radar doesnt show the person as a friendly, and theres a red x on the cross-hairs when you\'re pointing at a disguised person so stuff just feels wrong when your looking at someone thinking theyre disguised

Guerrilla Games wants the fans to celebrate the 5 year Killzone anniversary.

Quote

Killzone is (almost) Five! – Celebrate with a Double XP Weekend and More.

November 26 will be a very special day for all of us here at Guerrilla. On that day, exactly five years ago, the very first Killzone title for PlayStation 2 hit the shelves in Europe. Sure, the game had already been released in the US three weeks prior, but hey…Guerrilla is based in the Netherlands. We commemorate the 26th because that’s the date that we were finally able to see the fruits of our labor in Dutch stores.

Of course, it would be a shame to leave this occasion unmarked –- and I’m not talking about the champagne and strange Dutch snacks we’ll undoubtedly be having at the studio. We also want to celebrate it with you, the fans. After all, the Killzone brand wouldn’t be where it is today without your support. So here’s what we have in store for you over the next few days:

Looking back at Killzone 1
Later this week on Killzone.com, Seb “Motherh” Downie and I are going to play through the first Killzone game for you. We’ll be commenting on our favorite sections and wallowing in beer-induced nostalgia.

Killzone 2 retro tournament
This weekend (November 27-30) Guerrilla will host a Killzone 2 retro tournament, using only the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps from the second DLC pack. And there’s more to be gained than valor alone, because…

Double XP Weekend returns
…the tournament will take place during a Double XP Weekend! Just like last time, any game created in the weekend of November 27-30 will yield extra XP to help you boost your ranking.

Killzone 1 and 2 side-by-side
Finally, Killzone.com editor Victor Zuylen will compare various features of Killzone 2 with its predecessor next week, illustrating exactly how far we’ve come since the first Killzone game was released.

And starting today, Killzone 2 DLC goes on sale on the PlayStation Store — Flash & Thunder is now $2.99 and the Map Pack Bundle is down to $9.99 — until December 10. I hope you’ll join us in celebrating the fifth anniversary of Killzone! In the meantime, I’m going to put on my Top Hits of 2004 album and try to remember how I partied five years ago. Eric out.
