i bought nhl 08 because i loved the demo, but grew tired of it since it felt like i was playing the same game over and over. but this mode on 09 is sounding pretty awesome
basically, you can play with a team of 5-6 guys and move your way up in rank online. It could be a cluster-fuck going for the puck (rhyme), but they made a system where you scout certain players that you would want to play with..so even though noone i know plays hockey games i should be able to find a group to play normal hockey with.
I\'d be down to play as a defensive shooter

i love be a pro mode. Sitting on the bench during the game isnt bad at all and was done really well. It\'s suprisingly fun finding the best time to get off the ice so you dont give up a breakaway (if ur playing as a defender at least)
the online league is pretty cool too. Havent been able to get a game with 6 people on my team, just me and my friend. When we played one game with the other team having 6 people there was a good amount of lag, but i havent been able to get another game having that many people yet so i dont know if it\'ll be a common problem
just checking if anyone else played the demo and loved it so i can get 5-6 people on the same team..just have 2 so far
(had to get the 360 version btw..none of my friends have a ps3)

I wanna try that be a pro thing really badly. Sounds awesome. After I get bored of Madden I\'m gonna pick this up.

You can only go as fast as the slowest person on bandwidth. They should make different servers based on your bandwidth.

made this pretty awesome one-handed deke in practice mode trying to get better at handling the puck
http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/671077
only been able to recreate it once but that\'s beside the point. the part that is hard to do is the move between the deke to the right and the one-handed. just because of how you have to move the stick to do the one-handed thing, sometimes it does the animation sometimes it doesnt
it\'s definitly tough shooting since you skate foreward with the left stick, and the half-second it takes to shoot the puck you have to lay off the left stick and put more finesse on the shot. and doing the dekes where your guy lets go of the puck and does a move is hard to pull off with defenders all around you
