Some of you are too young to remember this, but you really should be enlightened about Obama\'s pick for VP.

How can you trust someone to run our country who cheated his way through law school?

Biden\'s Son, Brother Named in Two Suits

By Kimberly Kindy and Joe StephensWashington Post Staff Writers

Excerpt
A son and a brother of Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.) are accused in two lawsuits of defrauding a former business partner and an investor of millions of dollars in a hedge fund deal that went sour, court records show.

The Democratic vice presidential candidate\'s son Hunter, 38, and brother James, 59, assert instead that their former partner defrauded them by misrepresenting his experience in the hedge fund industry and recommending that they hire a lawyer with felony convictions.

The legal actions have been playing out in New York State Supreme Court since 2007, and they focus on Hunter and James Biden\'s involvement in Paradigm Companies LLC, a hedge fund group. Hunter Biden was made president with an annual salary of $1.2 million, despite his inexperience in the hedge fund industry, the lawsuit said. Before that, he had been part of the Washington law firm Oldaker, Biden & Belair, which earned $1.76 million in lobbying revenue in the first half of 2006, according to Congressional Quarterly\'s CQ MoneyLine. One of its biggest clients is the National Association of Shareholder and Consumer Attorneys, a District-based group representing law firms specializing in investment and corporate law.

This is relevant. The son got a job with an annual salary of 1.2 million dollars in hedge funds with no experience because he had to get out of lobbying because his father was trying to get nominated for VP.

exactly.  or we can talk about how in Obama\'s memoires he talks about his last two years in high school being a blur because he drank so much and smoked so much weed.

No wonder he doesn\'t want to rag on Palin\'s daughter and her bad decisions as a 17 year old.

Kind of like Obama originally saying he wouldn\'t take private money for his election until he realized oh shit, there\'s a lot of money out there.

Did you see Obama with O\'Reilly last night?  I don\'t like O\'Reilly, but damn Obama has some big ass ears.  Can\'t vote for someone with big ass ears, sorry.

Biden calls paying higher taxes a patriotic act

WASHINGTON - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. In a new TV ad that repeats widely debunked claims about the Democratic tax plan, the Republican campaign calls Obama\'s tax increases "painful."

Under the economic plan proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.

Although Republican John McCain claims that Obama would raise taxes, the independent Tax Policy Center and other groups conclude that four out of five U.S. households would receive tax cuts under Obama\'s proposals.

"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC\'s "Good Morning America."

Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: "It\'s time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."

McCain released a television ad Thursday charging that Obama would increase the size of the federal government amid an economic crisis. Contending that "a big government casts a big shadow on us all," the ad features the image of a shadow slowly covering a sleeping baby as a narrator misstates the reach of the Obama tax proposal.

"Obama and his liberal congressional allies want a massive government, billions in spending increases, wasteful pork," the ad says. "And we would pay — painful income taxes, skyrocketing taxes on life savings, electricity and home heating oil. Can your family afford that?"

The McCain campaign said the ad is set to run nationally.

Meh...it\'s nothing here...Obama\'s plan is still going to help 90 - 95% of middle income families in the u.s. and he\'s only rolling back the taxes for the rich to the time when clinton was president....and by today\'s standards that\'s hardly an increase....McCains plan does not help middle income families....

Does his plan involve bigger gov\'t?..that remains to be seen, but even if it does who\'s to say that under his administration that it might be a good thing?...one things for sure is that this current administration and gov\'t structure is failing us bigtime...

One thing Biden should not have said tho,..was "it\'s time to be patriotic"...as if to say if you\'re not paying higer taxes then you\'re not patriotic...he was definitely wrong for sayin\' that...Obama and his staff needs to check him on his off the cuff outbursts...

The personal income tax rate paid by the wealthiest americans has been steadily decreasing since the 1950s.  I saw a graph of the decrease a few weeks ago and I will locate it again when I get the chance.  The total decrease has been remarkable, and very steady over that span of years.

The democrats are simply proposing to restore the tax rate to where it was a few years ago, so we can have some hope of balancing the budget and reducing the national debt incurred by the Republicans.  I don\'t see why this is a big deal to ordinary americans like the people on this forum who won\'t be affected.

This is exactly why us conservatives are laughing at Obama\'s VP pick.  This guy has a regular habit of doing crap like this.

The email ad is terrible because - John McCain can\'t use a keyboard.  Why you may ask?  Because of the permanent injuries he received while being tortured in Vietnam.  The ad was basically mocking his handicap.  Biden was right - the ad was pretty bad.

I am aware that this story about McCain being unable to use a keyboard because of his vietnam torture injuries is circulating widely around the internet, but I have not found a reliable source that verifies it.  If you have a reliable source, please post it and I would be happy to change my opinion on that subject.  Until that point, I DON\'T BELIEVE IT.

The issue of McCain\'s tech skills began when he sat down for an interview with TechCrunch\'s Michael Arrington in November (http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/11/12/mccain-embarrassed-by-yahoo%E2%80%99s-actions-in-china-also-calls-google-to-the-mat/). Asked, "Are you a Mac or a PC guy?" McCain laughed and said "I am illiterate." (Arrington nonetheless endorsed McCain in the Republican primary (http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/01/29/the-techcrunch-tech-president-endorsements-barack-obama-and-john-mccain/), dismissing the candidate\'s computer illiteracy as common for his generation and not relevant to how he would handle the information economy.)

McCain repeated the "illiterate" comment in an interview with Politico and Yahoo News  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R9wnMVZE_Q)in January, saying, "I am an illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all of the assistance that I can get."

In July, McCain told the New York Times that he was "becoming computer literate"  (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/us/politics/13mccain.html?_r=1&sq=mccain%20and%20e-mail&st=nyt&oref=slogin&scp=80&pagewanted=all#)and learning to go online. But he also said he did not send e-mail.

"I don\'t e-mail, I\'ve never felt the particular need to e-mail," he said.

Bounds said it was "factually inaccurate" to allege that McCain can\'t send e-mail. But Bounds would not say whether McCain uses e-mail or how often.

"I\'m not going to get into the specifics of John McCain\'s e-mail correspondence. There couldn\'t be anything more off topic than that," Bounds said.
If McCain\'s fingers were injured, don\'t you think he would have mentioned it at some point, instead of portraying himself as a proud luddite?

Yes, by all means reference "blogs".  Don\'t believe it... I don\'t care.

"ABC\'s Jake Tapper: [T]yping on a regular keyboard for any sustained period of time bothers McCain physically.

He can type, he occasionally does type, but in general, the injuries he sustained as a POW – ones that make it impossible for him to raise his arms high enough to comb his hair – mean that small tasks make his shoulders ache, so he tries to avoid any repetitive exercise.

Again, it\'s not that he can\'t type, he just by habit, avoids when he can, repetitive exercise involving his arms. He does if he has to, as with handshaking or autographs."

That is from the beloved liberal factcheck.org.

The ad sucks get over it.  Did Bill Clinton use a PC?  Nope.  Does that impair their judgement?  Nope.

Well McCain said he reads blogs, so I should be able to quote a blog here.  :)   Actually I was just quoting that blog to provide the links that are embedded in the text.

I agree with the factcheck.org link that McCain probably does have difficulty typing.  Therefore the Obama ad was kinda stupid.  I agree with Biden that they shouldn\'t have run that ad.
