Solid Snake’s story is finished, but that doesn’t mean Konami is going to seal the Metal Gear Solid franchise in an early grave. The first sign of a new Metal Gear Solid game comes from the Japanese Trademark database where Konami registered Metal Gear Existence with the boring image on the right. It’s made to be used with video games so it’s likely, very likely, the name of a future Metal Gear Solid game. Going by the title alone it sounds like we’re going to visit the existence - or origins of the Metal Gear Solid franchise. So, will this be another game starring Big Boss? Let the wild pre-Tokyo Game Show speculation begin!

[size=+1]Sony Reveals Demon\'s Souls[/size]
Sony and From Software\'s hardcore PS3 action RPG playable at TGS.
In this week\'s issue of Weekly Famitsu magazine, Sony Computer Entertainment made the first announcement of Demon\'s Souls, a new "dark fantasy" action RPG under development by Armored Core makers From Software. The game, which will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show next week, is due out for the PlayStation 3 next year in Japan.
While details are still scant on Demon\'s Soul, SCE Japan producer Takeshi Kajii described the game to Famitsu as a spiritual successor to King\'s Field, the From-developed first-person RPG that first hit it big on the original PlayStation. "I am a fan of From Software, but naturally that also means there are parts of their games I\'m not satisfied with, too," he said. "If this was a new King\'s Field game, there would be areas we wouldn\'t be able to touch since they\'re part of the series; working together like this, we can try to make something really new."
Demon\'s Souls takes place in the kingdom of Boletaria, currently enshrouded in a deep fog thanks to its king inadvertently unleashing an ancient monster from his slumber. You, a nameless hero who you\'re free to customize Elder Scrolls-style, must penetrate into Boletaria and save the kingdom -- but like many US RPGs these days, the game is slated to be extremely open-ended. "You get only the barest minimum of a goal, and there\'s nothing forcing you to do anything in the game," Kajii said. "People say to you \'Save the world,\' but you can ignore them and keep going if you like."
The way Kajii and From Software director Hidetaka Miyazaki described it, Demon\'s Souls is a bit of a hybrid -- an RPG that uses the PS3\'s hardware to the hilt while still retaining the challenge and exploration of traditional role-players. Your hero can use a wide variety of weapons, each of which has different attacks and animations depending on how skillful you are or whether you\'re using one hand or two, and the game\'s physics system places natural limits on what\'s possible in any given tactical situation. "We gave a lot of thought to how to make the fun and charms of a classic RPG interesting all over again with the latest technology at hand," Miyazaki noted. "We figured that doing the things that previous hardware ignored -- having long weapons bump into walls, lighting the area in realtime with the torch in your hand -- would make the game that much more fun. We\'re taking the things you did through menus in Wizardry and letting you carry them out in real life." (Miyazaki also hinted that while Demon\'s Souls won\'t have multiplayer, he would still like to "find a way to use the Internet to make the single-player mode more interesting.")

There\'s no shortage of new Kingdom Hearts games coming out for handhelds, but what about the real sequel fans have been waiting for since Kingdom Hearts II was released in 2006? If a rumor in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine is to be believed, we\'ll soon find out all about Kingdom Hearts III at the Tokyo Game Show in early October. And, not very surprisingly, it\'ll purportedly be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
The rumor comes by way of GOONL!NE (via Kotaku), which reports that the latest issue of OPM (likely an oversees version of the mag, although it wasn\'t specified) has this to say in their rumor section: "Kingdom Hearts III is currently in development as a PS3 exclusive and will be announced at TGS." Can\'t get any more straight-forward than that, huh?
While it makes enough sense that Kingdom Hearts would remain a PlayStation exclusive, we\'re not quite ready to call this anything more than a rumor just yet. Remember -- the last time we heard a rumor from OPM, it turned out to be off the mark. But frankly, we\'d be surprised if Square Enix didn\'t have KHIII in development already. And if there was a place to unveil it, TGS seems as good as any. We\'ll just have to wait and see what happens when the show kicks off on October 9.

There\'s a lot of attention being placed on Sega\'s recent partnership with Platinum Games, and for good reason too. Platinum Games comes from the ashes of former Capcom devs Clover Studios, which met an untimely death after the lackluster sales of its critically acclaimed Okami. With a resume that includes games like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, Platinum Games has a strong legacy to live up to.
So what did we think about their first PS3 game, Bayonetta? It looked strangely familiar -- probably because it\'s from Hideki Kamiya, the creator of the original Devil May Cry. His new creation looks almost like a carbon copy of the recently released DMC4. In fact, the engine and textures look identical, especially with the way the game renders light and particle effects. (We wouldn\'t be surprised if Kamiya "borrowed" some tech and assets from Capcom before he left.)
The gameplay looks rather similar too, as its focus is on kicking ass in the most stylish way possible. We have no complaints, but seeing angel-esque characters circle around the main character, as she dishes out combos had us recoiling in a bit of rather recent nostalgia (DMC4 released earlier this year. You also fought angel-like enemies in that game).

I often ask myself, why is every game either about World War and/or FPS. More sword and magic please! Guess there is a good quantity on each side, and we fail to realize that because we would like every game to be something good we could play.

there\'s definitly a grip of normal FPS\'s, but theres really only one rpg FPS...i dont count bioshock as that
fallout is still a little different from what i really want, since it\'s probably not as realistic as stalker (in terms of guns and some gameplay mechanics.. obviously not the identical premise of radioactive monsters)

Less than a day after we go on an anti-Square-Enix rant, wondering specifically what logical reason there is behind only bringing Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope to the Xbox 360...and bam, the rumor shows up that gets us all excited: according to translated information from gaming site Gamekyo, Square-Enix has now confirmed that SO4 is also coming to the PlayStation 3. The game was revealed way back in February for the Xbox 360, to be released in all major territories, but PS3 owners were disappointed when Square-Enix didn\'t include their console in the announcement. This made little sense, as JRPGs sell best in Japan - where the 360 is essentially non-existent - and up until now, the popular Star Ocean franchise has only been on PlayStation platforms. We certainly don\'t mind if 360 owners around the world get a shot at the new game, but we could never figure out why PS3 owners wouldn\'t also get the anticipated title. Now, we may have to eat our own words...perhaps Square-Enix is just late to the PS3 party.

With Home on the way soon (at least we hope it is, but we would not bet money on it), Sony has shown an image at TGS that shows what companies they are working with to include features in Home.
Sony did not reveal what each companies would be doing what, so some could just be sticking their logo on in-game items, while others may going all out and creating rooms to go hand in hand with upcoming game.
Regardless, the list of companies looks interesting, with many of the big names in the industry looking to offer something to the service. However, we have to say the lack of a SquareEnix logo is very surprising.

It\'s a double dose of nostalgia, this: GTI Club + is a retooling of the 1996 Konami arcade cab...
...So it was with some interest that we learned it was coming to PSN courtesy of Konami Europe and Sheffield\'s Sumo Digital. Sumo was responsible for the brilliant home versions of SEGA\'s OutRun 2, which not only treated Yu Suzuki\'s freewheeling masterpiece to a perfect conversion, but fleshed it out with a creative and expertly judged suite of extra modes and a mercilessly addictive, spoonfed stream of fan-service unlocks...
...Understandably, GTI Club + isn\'t quite on the same scale. The biggest change in the last 12 years is naturally the graphical upgrade from the cheerfully blocky original to a pin-sharp 720p presentation running at 60 frames a second. The car models have been completely overhauled, and are nicely detailed, with a slightly plasticky Matchbox look that isn\'t out of keeping. The town itself hasn\'t had the same treatment and shows its plain low-poly roots more clearly, but again, that\'s not really a problem: Sumo has kept a careful balance between modern standards and an excitingly brash, retro look.
You get a choice of five cars, expanding the original\'s line-up of timeless pocket rockets: the Mini Cooper (the proper one), the Fiat Abarth, the Mk1 Golf GTI and the Renault 5. They come in standard rally colours, but Sumo\'s added some basic customisation - you can change paint jobs and take your pick from a choice of decals, as well as choosing your horn sound. They all drive much the same, but that\'s beside the point - it\'s all about picking your own particular flavour of old-school tearabout cool. We\'re promised more "vintage and modern" cars, but it\'s unclear what they\'ll be, or how they\'ll be unlocked, from the preview version.

We see the prince character wearing a casual, all black suit. This is rendered with the in-game engine, and the graphics look as smooth and appealing as the main FFXIII title. He climbs marble stairs up to a loft-like art gallery. There he meets the blonde woman revealed previously wearing a black dress and a small white top. This time she\'s seen in a white cocktail dress. the two are talking but through Japanese subtitles as there doesn\'t appear to be any voice work done yet – or, Square Enix purposely took it out for some reason.
The two characters continue to talk in the art gallery. There\'s an Amano-styled painting hanging on the floor behind the female character. They appear to be having a friendly chat. It\'s easy to assume that these two could be lovers; there\'s no doubt they\'re quite close to one another.

- Two main characters, Sid and Firena
- *Game takes place inside a mysterious tower known as “The Living Tower” (seems like the tower itself is alive). No one knows how or when the tower appeared. It seems that the tower sprang up on its own. It overlooks the desolate world below.
-One day, a phenomenon known as “The Invasion (Diabolosis)” occurred, which caused the tower to alter its appearance. This was triggered when various individuals attempted to enter the tower and tried to take control of it. These actions awakened some sort of self-defense mechanism within the tower which repelled most of the invaders, and kept anyone outside from entering. One man from the outside manages to pierce through the tower’s defenses and makes his way inside. His goal is to reach the top of the tower.
- Aliens invaded the tower
- Sid will be armed with guns and of course melee attacks
- Firena will be Sid’s rival
- Graphics are very realistic
- Ability to duct and cover. (Hmmm. similar to Gears eh?)
These are only known facts we can uncover for now. We will have complete details of this game later this week. Judging from the videos they’ve shown, this could be the Gears of War of the Playstation 3! For now, keep checking GamersPlatform for all of your TGS news!
