I am quite impressed. Sarah had hairplugz sighing. She won the debate hands down. She connects with the public as an every day average person. "Say it ain\'t so Joe"... great stuff.
Now who said Biden was going to mop the floor with her? :lmao:
-
Disagreed completely, I saw it the exact other way.
-
i thought they both came off well, but i\'d give the edge to biden.
i couldnt really believe palin stuck by her "i dont care about what\'s causing global warming, i just want to fix it"...really? bringing up the fact the earth goes through stages was a good point, but the evidence of how much our carbon dioxide emissions went sky high since the industrial revolution and our current CO2 levels in the air is warning enough that humans arent helping the cause. and it\'s pretty damn tough to figure out a solution when you ignore the cause

How sad is it that the bar was set very low for palin to begin with?...I think that is rather disturbing. That said, Palin did just enough to look decent...she wasn\'t great, but she wasn\'t poor either and she also wasn\'t the train wreck that she\'s been lately. And her attemps and quirks at sarcasm come off as incredibly phony. Biden owned her on the foreign policy issues,...and there were a few times were she was just stating talking points and ramblimg on about nothing.
I give the edge to biden, and i think there was alot of pressure on him, not to beat up on her, because of her experience and because of her being a woman,...which i think is bulls**t....if women want equal rights and all that, biden should not have to hold back on her just because she\'s a woman,...the same people that scream sexism(some in the media) are the very same folks that are being hypocrites on this issue.

You\'re crazy if you think she connects with any one.
And as for mopping the floor...Well, the polls show otherwise. Current polls have Biden also winning this debate.
Then again, if Palin had simply came out and said "Hi!", you\'d still be screaming that she done a great job. It\'s part of being a blind loyalist.

Biden lied about opposing clean coal plants, he lied about Afghanistan, he lied about Kissenger\'s comments on face to face talks with Dictators. The guy was rattled.
Did you see Biden when Palin was talking? All those faces he was making? What a joke. Biden has always been wrong on foreign policy. Always. BTW Biden drives a Bosniac? WTF is that? Also Joe, try saying the word "characterized" - come on you can do it.
The VP debate all comes down to who is more likable and who the public connects with. On that front - Sarah Palin crushed Biden, who came across as a stuffy old angry man.
-
JOE BIDEN’S 14 LIES IN THE DEBATE
1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people\'s health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it\'s not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO\'s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won\'t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

Biden definitely won the debate, he ran circles around Palin at certain points. But anyone who expected a train wreck were completely disappointed. I thought she would do fine as she excels at skirting the details and trying to connect with the "average American", which seems like all they were trying to accomplish last night.
It was a bit disconcerting at how many questions she did not answer or gave an answer that didn\'t address the topic or question at hand. She at times sounded like a series of pre-recorded diatribes lacking any real focus or punch. Her handlers loaded her up with rhetoric and cut her loose.... and I\'ll admit it worked for the most part.
She was known as a pretty good debater when she ran for Gov. of Alaska, so I wasn\'t expecting her to have a meltdown... she only has a meltdown when you ask her more detailed policy questions.
-

I\'ll be honest, I actually liked that. She even came out and said something to the effect of, "I may not answer all your questions, but I want to get my point across." I like the fact that she was willing to push back against the moderator and control the pace of the debate.
I just don\'t see how anyone could say there was a "winner" last night. Nobody won, you just had two slightly different views on the issues. People who say Biden won have simply been drinking the koolaid for way too long.
I\'m tired of the love affair with the socialist. He offers no change, he is more of the same, and he seeks only to make our lives even worse.
-
Well with "Age of Obama" Ifill moderating and giving Biden the last word on just about every question what do you expect?
It is funny how those of you claim Obama won the first debate, when clearly McCain ran circles around him on knowledge. I attribute this to different expectations from both sides. With McCain I was looking for knowledge and experience and with Palin I was looking for her to connect with the "average" American. They both accomplished it.
Given that, I still think Biden lost the debate even on substance. He lied about things just because he knew he could get away with it. The MSM is in the tank for Obama - Ifill\'s book - "Age of Obama" is do to go on sale in January. That book isn\'t going to sell by itself. Love affair indeed.
Also, you really can\'t consider this a debate. It is just a question and answer session.

I think both sides had lied or misled about stuffs they said during the debate. Come on people, its politics and they just wanted your votes, so they will say things to get your votes. So saying that Biden made many lies during the debate but exclude Sarah is also single sided, and not true either because she also did the same thing.
here is a Link (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081003/ap_on_el_pr/debate_fact_check).

Palin looks hotter. Though Joe Biden does look quite handsome in that dark suit. Palin has nicer tits than Joe also.

Sorry you feel that way, it just came off that she didn\'t know jack about the issue at hand she would go back to energy. I swore if she went back to energy one more time. Of course if you like her or are a Republican she had you eating out of her hand. I just can\'t vote for McCain/Palin because of her, her being first in line to the oldest president in history scares the shit out of me.
But I will say that she did a bang up job at masking her deficiencies in policy knowledge and foreign affairs.
-
Right now, what I care about is bankrupting the middle east oil barons. I don\'t care if it takes 10 years to do it, but if Palin has a plan for that path, I\'ll be right behind her. Hopefully in a literal manner.

And just so you know...he\'s only going to tax those companies that ship american jobs overseas...makes sense doesn\'t it? And Obama isn\'t even president yet and these companies are already losing money because of their own greed. Maybe taxing them will keep them honest and stop them from making stupid decisions.
-
The VP debate all comes down to who is more likable and who the public connects with. On that front - Sarah Palin crushed Biden, who came across as a stuffy old angry man.
At the end of the day most people still feel Palin is not qualified to be the president should McCain croak.....one debate isn\'t going to fix that. People have seen Palin in her natural form in those interviews and clearly this chick doesn\'t have a clue.
-

Natural form? You mean heavily edited natural form? 0bama isn\'t qualified to be President if he gets elected. People have seen the true 0bama when he states people cling to guns and religion.
Fox News is the only news outlet in the US that isn\'t in the tank for 0bama. Name me another one if you can. Oh thats right you can\'t.

Palin is just as qualified as Obama. She\'s not even running for President.
This is liberals only defense against Palin. They think if they keep saying it over and over again it will be true.
-
I just want to make sure people are aware that Barack Obama voted for legislation that directly led to the financial crisis... somehow people are pinning this on McCain.
-
The media is facilitating that also. In the debate next week McCain needs to blast Obama on his voting record and trumpet his own.
-
It truely is amazing how much the network news skews to the different sides. FOX Says she did fine and held her own, I turn to MSNBC and they blast her for going off question. Can you tell me one debate where the people actually answered the quests from the moderator? They go off point constantly to get what they want said in.
I think she did great personally and I could listen to her speak way before any of the other three candidates.
Biden going on and on about foreign policy, well no shit he is going to have more foreign policy experience than she is. But who really cares? She has aides to fill any gaps she has in any policy decision she is unclear on.
Speaking of gaps..... hubba hubba.

I deleted MSNBC from my channel lineup. The amount of garbage that comes from that channel is sickening. Fox is the least biased network left in the US.

Since that\'s the case liberals dismiss it as conservatively biased... and yet, all the other networks are 100% fair. Go figure.

How could our lives get even worse if he offers no change? He\'d have to change some things to be worse, no?
Palin is just as qualified as Obama. She\'s not even running for President.
Did Dick Cheney tell you that? The VP spot is not exactly window dressing.
Also, about the media, this guy provides a list of shows to watch to keep a centrist diet, and one of them even appears on Fox News. http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is-Real-Finds-UCLA-6664.aspx (http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is-Real-Finds-UCLA-6664.aspx)

When you don\'t fix things, they tend to get worse.
Did Dick Cheney tell you that? The VP spot is not exactly window dressing.
I am confident she could do the job, yes, seeing as how she has several years of EXECUTIVE experience. How many does Biden have? Or Obama? Even McCain for that matter? She\'s just as qualified as the rest of them.
Let me also make one thing clear. Whether you like it or not, Obama approved legislation that directly led to the economic crisis we live in. Obama believed that "everyone" has a right to own a home. It\'s a nice thought but not feasible. So his idea was to force banks to issue "subprime mortgages" so that people could live beyond their means. So your typical low-income family who can barely afford their current standard of living is now suddenly being approved for mortgages in excess of 300,000 dollars. Obama didn\'t think it was "fair" (a term used by Biden on several occasions last night) that people with bad credit weren\'t allowed to own a home. Well gee, lets issue disgustingly large amounts of money to people with bad credit. Is that the "Change" you can believe in?
Don\'t believe me? Google "Community Reinvestment Act". He didn\'t author the bill, that honor goes to Jimmy Carter, but he damn sure supports it, and fought against changes that GWB wanted to make in 2005 to make it tougher to get loans. In fact, he sued CitiBank to force it to make bad loans. (http://iusbvision.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/obama-sued-citibank-under-cra-to-force-it-to-make-bad-loans/) And to sweeten the pot, one of Obama\'s financial advisers is the former CEO of Fannie Mae. Wonderful.
Speaking of Fannie Mae, that wonderful government sponsored program, they went on a man-hunt to issue subprime mortgages to low-income families and then sold them to banks. What did Fannie care, they were making money...
Now just in case you try to play the "Banks weren\'t forced" card, they were. There was a penalty for those banks who didn\'t hit their quota of subprime mortgages. The fact of the matter is this, people with no money should not be buying houses, Obama feels they are entitled to one. Eventually the subprime mortgage market broke, and there were no more buyers, and yet a lot of bad debt floating around. In a sense, Fannie Mae\'s guarantees of backing these mortgages was "worthless(chuckle)".
Guess what? It gets even better! The Bush administration (while not my favorite to say the least) actually tried to stop Fannie Mae and oversee everything they were doing. But someone stopped it.... who? The Democrats. Remember Barney Frank? Melvin Watt? You know who else tried to stop it? In 2005? John McCain (again, not my favorite person, but trying to prove a point).
Think that\'s a bunch of crap? Google "The Housing Enterprise Regulatory Act of 2005". Oh boy! This is fun. Another fun little tidbit, one of Obama\'s advisors is Franklin Raines, I\'ll let you find out who that is...
Obama did get his wish in the end though. Lots of "affordable mortgages". Oh and his friends got richer too. Guess that\'s all that really matters in the end though. But hey, he\'s charismatic and he\'s black, so people feel bad not liking him. The best villains in this world are the ones who think their right. The democratic spin doctors did a masterful job having McCain take the fall on this one. I truly feel that McCain is waiting for one of the last debates to unleash this information to the mass audiences so that Obama will have no time to retaliate.
Sorry if the truth hurts guys. Obama is not the man you think he is. Thanks for playing though.
-
BTW Biden drives a Bosniac? WTF is that? Also Joe, try saying the word "characterized" - come on you can do it.
I believe the Vice President of the United States, second in command of our armed forces, should be able to pronounce the word "Nuclear." Like many stupid people in this country, she doesn\'t notice that she\'s saying it wrong.
Likewise, I think a candidate who is seeking to govern a NATION should display enough curiosity about other nations to consider leaving their own country and traveling abroad occasionally. Palin appears to be incurious. She\'s an example of the type of american conservativism that is not interested in learning new things or having their beliefs challenged by new information. But hey, that\'s just the way I see it.
Overall, I felt the debate was a dead heat. Palin was well coached, and successfully memorized a number of stock answers with mass appeal. Biden displayed his extensive experience and knowledge of world and domestic affairs. Liberals who favor substance were pleased with Biden, and conservatives who care about personality were pleased with Palin. From the average viewer\'s perspective, that\'s a dead heat. No clear winner, but unfortunately for the GOP, that leaves the McCain campaign still slipping behind.

McCain was asked if he regretted supporting a 1999 law that removed barriers between investment banks and commercial banks that were erected in 1933, in response to the 1929 stock market crash.
"No," McCain said. "I think the deregulation was probably helpful to the growth of our economy."
Helpful maybe, but at a very great cost to be paid later.

I wasn\'t saying John McCain was off the hook. I was stating Obama\'s just as guilty, if not worse offender than him.
I hate to say it but there\'s a very fine line between minorities and bad credit histories.
Obama still led to the crisis regardless.

Fox News is the only news outlet in the US that isn\'t in the tank for 0bama. Name me another one if you can. Oh thats right you can\'t.
How can an interview with her giving direct answers be edited?...nobody edited her answers when she gave that interview with couric....now you\'re believing conspiracy theories?......you\'re a mindless conservative drone...at least when biden made that patriotic remark, i admitted that was something he should not have stated,...as much of an airhead palin is you can\'t even admit she did horribly in those interviews....conservatives can do no wrong in your eyes...and fox news?......that news organization is in the tank for republicans in general....cnn criticizes both obama & mccain in a balanced way.
Obama has shown that he\'s ready to lead the nation in a new direction...deep down you truly know Palin is not ready to be prez. The thought of her bein\' prez should send shivvers down your spine, seriously she would be a joke, and nobody would take her "folksy" attitude seriously.
Did Obama tell you that?
That\'s what he stated over and over and he makes it clear that he will only tax those companies that send american jobs over seas...it\'s hard for you to comprehend that Obama actually has policies that makes sense right? Yet you refuse to believe it. It\'s in his plan.
-

Ain\'t that the truth....by the way, would you mind doing me a favor and co-sign for this new benz i\'ve been lookin\' at?...;)
Obama still led to the crisis regardless.
That\'s a bit of an exaggeration...so he\'s to blame for the sub-prime mess? Core already pointed out that those companys weren\'t forced to write those loans,... they saw an opportunity to create a fast profit, and now they are paying the consequences for it.

So you\'re one of those people spending my money. Buy anything good lately?

*sigh* I remember why I don\'t post in here now. It\'s like yelling at a propaganda machine.
How can you complain that nothing on TV gives a balanced view of things, then list off Biden\'s mistakes while pretending Palin made none? Or saying she wiped the floor with him when the polls are clearly showing otherwise?
You can never give an accurate analysis of anything if you only look at one side of the issue.

Who said Palin wiped the floor with her? I said she held her own. If anything this forum is more left than right.
Giga, Vid, and myself are the only ones not suffering from that mental disorder called liberalism.

But you are suffering from being abortion loving closet homosexuals.

its just a forum, why take anything here seriously anyway.

Next purchase? A new laptop.
Thanks!

"The circle jerk group"
P.S - Giga is the one who said Palin wiped the floor with him, while ignoring the fact that polls show otherwise. Same with the Presidental debate. Polls show Obama "won" that, but a few of you are so loyal you can\'t even accept polls. Kind of like how every time an McCain article that doesn\'t show him in a positive light is posted, it\'s either biased or uninformed.

But you\'re still gay?

To LIC
Let me first say I don\'t identify with either party or either candidate. Ok, with that done, polls mean shit. Just because some of the idiot public thought something doesn\'t make it gospel. I wouldn\'t label either a "winner" cause of some poll.
Regarding the media, sorry you\'re too blind to accept most of it is skewed to the left.

Like LIC said, Giga said it. I never said you specifically did.
Polls mean nothing? Last I checked, the election is basically a poll.
That said, my point is the discussions in here are pointless, cause no one actually is willing to discuss anything. It\'s just state your views, and anyone with contrary views is an idiot. Be as insulting and attacking as you can get away with. No thanks.

Obviously I meant a poll that was gauging something like the debates as opposed to the government held vote....
really?
-
Breakdown:
We are talking about who won the debate in the public\'s eyes. When you poll the public - then the poll can be considered a good way to judge who won the debate.
How difficult was that?
We\'re not talking about who is being elected. We are talking about who won a debate.
-
Breakdown:
And what I\'m saying is what does some poll that very well could have an agenda matter? I know the public ends up voting (sadly, most aren\'t very capable) but I wouldn\'t cite some poll as damning evidence one side or the other won. Obviously people are gonna, for the most part, see it towards the side they\'re favoring no matter what happened.

And if more people favor one person over the other. That person won.

(I won\'t follow your unwarranted smartass start any more)
Why even have the debate? Everybody sides with the party they\'re following so why not just crown which ever party is leading going in?
