Watch that video
I demand at least 3 of you pick this game up to help take on hordes and hordes of the living dead. I didn\'t realize it was so co-op focused. I thought it was a FPS where you could play as zombies (which you still can) against humans. But now that I see a large part of it is to take on various campaigns with 3 other players it makes this game shoot up on my much wanted list. Plus valve is involved and i\'m a big fan on games through steam.
-
Jar O pickles and I are getting it.
I\'ve been following this game since it was announced.
-
If my laptop doesn\'t crash and burn first, i\'ll be picking it up.
-
Another one on my list... this is getting expensive.
-
I\'m getting more excited for this one on a daily basis. Because as someone who doesn\'t own a console it is actually quite rare for a co-op FPS game to come out for the PC.
-
I\'ve seen the xbox version of this and the action was just too fast and frantic...the pc version played a bit slower and smoother....i saw an interview by them where they did say that they were thinking about releasing it on the ps3,....:fro:....i\'m not a fan of fps, but i\'m a fiend for zombies and horror....so i might have to make an exception if it ever drops on tha ps3.
Only gripe i have is the friendly fire....i think it shoud be turned off for a game like this sense alot of it is played in such close quarters. Looks good tho, albeit sounds a bit short.
-
looks fun but it\'s a bit too short to warrent buying it right now. their catch to make the game longer is that the zombies spawn in different places, but..eh.
i do like how they made the characters as politically correct as possible though

That was my worry too. However, its going to have the best map/mod community behind it just like Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. Within time there will be hundreds of new player created campaigns to play. As well as future updates from the developer themselves.
-
C\'mon guys... YOU GET TO PLAY AS A ZOMBIE!
Thats worth the price of admission right there.

yea, definitly it could/should be worth it on pc. but i cant get any games on pc anymore till i get a new one because of lock-up issues. (i thought this was the console discussion forum)
my lesson: don\'t keep buying 1-part upgrades to keep your computer alive
-
Yeah.. Whenever I upgrade I usually just wait and then do the whole shabang. MB, proc, RAM, HD, video card.
-
It is already pre purchased via Steam, so I\'ll be around.

Intro video. If this doesn\'t get you excited, something is wrong with you.
-
hehe that opener is great :D I didn\'t pre-order mine because I tend to overplay demos and spoil the main game a little bit. But i\'m set to get it off steam release day :thumb: Shame it wasn\'t ready for Halloween but oh well.
-
Demo is downloading right now. Will post impressions.
Also hit 70 on my WoW warrior today!
-
woot grats on 70 LIC
-
demo you say?
-
yep
-
Well, I know what I\'m doing as soon as I get home.
-
Did you pre-purchase? Have to pre purchase to download demo.
-
Yeah, just saw that.
The wife would kill me if I bought 2 games in one week.
-
be sure to post your thoughts when you get some demo time in
-
Yeah, just saw that.

Whipped.
Impressions.
Well, only one map and not able to control zombies in the demo, but overall, this game is ten kinds of awesome.
The maps are random and so are the hordes of zombies, but the game very much feels like a team based Resident Evil, with twitch based gameplay, if that makes any kind of sense. You do get a sense of dread, especially during moments like a car alarm being set off and next thing you know all you hear is the shrieks of zombies. Just amazing really, even from the demo.
-
so its not a big version of CS but with zombies? my only fear was that it would feel like a version of that zombie mod for cs, which I did not enjoy for long.
-
Married.

Fixed.
I\'m very much looking forward to this game.
-
No, there is no CS feel what so ever. This game is a totally different beast.
My only concern is how long the gameplay will feel fresh. Of course there will be the "random" maps and both sides to play as, but without user maps, the game may suffer long term. Still, it\'s great in short bursts and I\'m loving the demo.
-
I caved lol and bought the game before launch day. Installing the demo now.
-
Game is a blast. I don\'t have to worry about spoiling anything because the demo is so bloody short. But its a lot of fun, all 30 minutes of it.
All modes except Expert I found to be too easy or way too easy.
Btw the demo is out for free now if anyone wants to try it.
-
Well I got it all paid for and preloaded...at midnight tonight the undead won\'t know what hit em.
(hint: it\'ll be a shotgun shell)

Alright its 7am...been playing the campaign since we split up. Finally beat the finale of the 1st campaign on expert. Talk about tough.
Overall, fantastic game imo, I really enjoy it.
However Luke and I have each other on one anothers friends list and you would not believe how hard they make it for you if you want to play with a friend.
-
Sadly, not impressed with the full game.
-
You know dude I figured it out after we stopped trying.
What we need to do is create a game for friends only... then after you join change it to a public game.
We should try again tonight.
-
You know, I gotta say.
After playing the shit out of this game... Playing as a zombie just isn\'t very fun.

I really am a sucker for anything zombie related.
-
you guys still playing this game? wish it came out for PS3 with mouse support ;P
-
I play it rarely, I play Versus mode 95% of the time and its been the same 2 campaigns since release, so its pretty boring at the moment imo. Next patch they release some program (I don\'t know the techy name) that lets people finally create their own maps so that\'ll be pretty sweet.
When more maps or a larger variety of maps becomes the norm i\'ll definitely be playing regularly again.
-
A patch came out last week for L4D and i\'m happy to say its FINALLY the game I hoped it would be. Honestly this patch is just full of stuff the game should of had on launch.
You can play all campaigns on VS mode now, and the new Survival mode is so much fun. Lots of other little changes but those were the 2 biggest ones.
Game is totally awesome again.
-
I played a few hours of survival mode over the weekend with two friends and one AI player. We agreed that it is freaking hard. We still haven\'t reached a bronze medal on any map, and I\'m not sure what we\'re doing wrong. Maybe we just suck.
I think playing with 4 human players would definitely be advantageous. Each person could take turns healing, while the other three cover. You can really get into trouble if you get separated and can\'t get help from your team mates. At least I got the "ground control" acheivement because I was getting incapped so often.
We always spend a lot of time setting up and placing fuel cans before triggering the hoard. Mostly I think that\'s a waste of time because fire doesn\'t seem to do much damage to the special infected.
-
Yeah man that one bot on your team surely can\'t make things easier. The AI on the PC is just retarded and even a bad player is usually more useful than the bot.
The bots aren\'t that bad for VS mode when your the humans but for Survival you need to have all 4 players on the same page because it is as you said indeed hard. I\'ve gotten a gold on No Mercy - The Hospital but my 3 teammates were all in the same clan and had done it already before.
The gas cans and propane tanks are worth setting up on some maps and not so much on others. I usually only shoot those to deal with a horde rush or when the Tank needs to be set on fire and theres no molotovs left.
I met up with a few friends yesterday and we got some bronzes and silvers but i\'m yet to make it past 9 min on any other map besides The Hospital, and even when I played with my friends and not those 3 clan members we couldn\'t get gold again.
Are you playing it on the PC or Xbox?
-
Ah ha. I\'m playing on the Xbox.
I\'ll bet that\'s our problem. I\'m sure I would be much more efficient with a keyboard and mouse.
-
I started playing again too... I missed this game.
-
I got a bronze medal in my 2nd game with two other human players....
Fire is incredibly useful with the Tanks, get them fast with it and let it do most of the work.
Oh yea, xbox here.
-
Play Left 4 Dead free today:

Finally upgraded, plan to try this out. Are there any deals on Steam?
edit- soke too soon:
L4D 23.99 on steam till may 4th. They one upped amazon
-
OK we played again over the weekend, and we had four human players this time. We go a silver medal on No Mercy, so I guess we\'re improving.
It\'s too bad there are no new achievements for this add on. Of course that only applies to the Xbox version. I guess there is no equivalent in the PC version?
-
on the PC version there are 6 achievements for Survival mode.
1 for the time you earn a Bronze
1 for your first Silver
and 1 for your first gold
The last 3 are for getting all 16 of each medal
so far i\'ve got 14 bronze - 9 Silver - 7 Gold. I find it fun to still do the levels where I got gold so thats a plus. My longest game was 16 minutes 9 seconds on Dead Air - The Terminal.
The Terminal is an easy gold, you put your back up against the fence facing towards the escalator and that way you only have to fire in 1 direction. Ammo is close by and molotovs (sp?) are to your left on at the check in terminal.
IMO these are the easiest gold i\'ve found so far
No Mercy - The Hospital
No Mercy - The Street
Dead Air - The Terminal
they all involve setting up in a spot where you generally only have to cover 1 direction.
Last Stand is pretty tough it seems. Haven\'t even got silver on that one yet.
Overall, great patch.
-
I didn\'t set up the game session, so I didn\'t realize there were so many different survival maps available for each campaign. We got our silver on No Mercy - The Hospital (I think... it\'s the one inside the hospital ward, where you\'re waiting for the elevator in campaign mode)
We also played the lighthouse map, and the No Mercy - rooftop, and both were complete nightmares.
On these survival maps they took away some of the little rooms and closets that were present on the campaign map. We noticed that in the farmhouse in Blood Harvest. BTW that one was the hardest.
-
Yeah Farmhouse is brutal >_< best i\'ve done in Farmhouse was almost a silver. We set up camp inside the barn outside the house. We had more success in there but everyone was tired of trying and started to quit.
The Rooftop of hospital was pretty rough aswell. But the best spot for that one is essentially right where you start
1 player on mini gun
1 on left side
1 on right
and 1 watching the back stairs
Ammo, pills, health packs are all right at your feet and the pipes and mollys are to your left and right platforms. They are close enough to get to by yourself if you need one, and your team can shoot off a hunter if you get pounced or something.
Worst part about that spot is the smokers pulling members down to the ground in the middle of a rush (usually the mini gun guy it seems) but if everyone is on the ball, gold is attainable from that spot
also its relatively safe from the Tank punting you off the rooftop entirely. The only direction he can do that in is by the stairs, and even then you still have a decent chance of hitting a generator to stop you from flying
Best spot in hospital which is actually my favorite map is a room I really like that is closed until the game starts. Once the horde breaks the doors down you can get in. Its a double door room so its got a nice wide view of the entire main hall and its only a short run directly in front of you to ammo and health packs. Plus its sealed off, so the walls never break, all your enemies will come from in front of you. Its also got some pills, some pipe bombs and some mollys in there too.
The lighthouse has been the most challenging for me so far. I don\'t think I have even 5 min on that one.
Man I wish PC players and xbox players could game together. I regret selling my xbox, but this is a shooter game so I would of ended up buying it for the PC anyways. Maybe by xbox 720 it\'ll happen.

I know that room. That\'s where we camped on our best performance. On the 360 you can break into the room before you trigger the hoard, but you have to keep shooting and beating on one door until it breaks open. It\'s nice to hide in the room off-axis so the smokers can\'t get a clear shot at you.
-
Yup its an awesome spot. On the PC tho we can shoot it until theres a huge hole in the doors but can\'t break it entirely.
-
It\'s a shame, as much as I love zombies and anything by Valve, I just can\'t get into this game. Maybe its because no one I know plays it, but I always end up on crap teams where people shoot each other.
With that said, I quit playing TF2 for a long time (was pissed about the achievements / unlock system). Now, I\'m back to playing it and once again, I friggin\' adore it.
-
Loving this game. Online campaign is sooo much more fun
-
Heya THX add Tinybit on steam - we can get some games in some time
-
Cool, added you several days ago. You still play this game? Trying to get better at survival
-
Yup I still play :D hehe the day I made that post I think I went out and bought my 360 a day later lol. So i\'ve been on that thing for the past week. I\'ll defintley be back on steam tho. Just accepted the invite now,
