Title: Which is worse? Pats at 18-1 or Lions at 0-16?

I say the Pats winning streak ending at the Super Bowl has got to be a mental anguish of such epic proportions that only a bullet throught the skull would heal.

the fact the pats bounced back from that, I\'d give it to the lions. to be the first team to do that, and get blown out most of the time in the process has to be worse. especially when the offense was at least trying as best as they could (never payed attention to the defense, but seeing as they gave up like 30+ points a game..)

Well, the question is which is worse? As a fan, is it worse to have low expectations and do really bad or have high expectations and fail to meet them in a dramatic way?

Whats worse? Being picked for the Superbowl and not even making the playoffs, because your team just totally self destructed late in the season.

But in all seriousness, in the end (Linkon Park song now playing in the background), the perfect season of the Patriots and the streak ending at the biggest game in the US has got to be more than just heart breaking. The Lions got used to losing. The Pats got used to winning. But losing it at the end.....wow. Talk about mental anguish.

I would say both carry a fairly substantial amount of mental anguish. The only difference is, after the Pats lost, I jerked off. When the Lions lost, I just felt bad for them.
Watching the Lions play is like watching the retarded kid who keeps tripping over his own shoe strings, because he is too damn retarded to tie them..

As a Pats fan, I can honestly say 18-1 was devestating. However, you have to put it in perspective, I bet the Lions would make that trade any day.
More or less, the Patriots recovered and put together a good season without their best player (which only added to the angst). The Lions meanwhile, hit rock bottom. I guess in the end it all has to do with the level of expectation set by the team, and my guess is that most Lions fans called it quits by week 4.
I concur though, Cowboys suck.
