Title: Possible PS3 prob...
Post by: CHIZZY on January 12, 2009, 09:58:22 AM
Hey...

every once in a while, my ps3 "stutters" while playing blu-ray discs. i only have brand-new ones, so it\'s no a disc issue, and i\'ve noticed it on more than one disc. the audio plays fine thru the stutter, but the image movements seems to get choppy & stuttery... not too bad, but dammit, it should be perfect! anyone else see this or have a solution?

yep & yep. I guess ventilation is okay, it\'s in a cabinet that has o semi-open back, and I leave the door open while in use, doesn\'t sound like its straining...

http://blog.bmn.name/2008/01/blu-ray-ps3-stuttering-playback-woes-solved/

looks like you should try to go to the BD/DVD settings and go to “BD 1080p 24Hz Output (HDMI) - Sets the playback method for BDs recorded at 24Hz (frames/second)” and set it to off

(fyi, the site wouldnt work on IE, but it worked on firefox)

Regarding heat, you have to be careful with those cabinets. Not sure where the PS3 vents are, but don\'t forget to take the side ventilation into consideration, and do you have more equipment stacked right above/below? In my cabinet I leave a few rackspaces of open air above my 360, as well as having the open front and back during use, and it\'s mounted in an open-top shelf that has ventilation slots on the bottom.

For your problem, though, I\'ve had regular DVD disc\'s skip on me despite being new, just because of an accidental thumb print. I doubt you\'d miss that, but if you haven\'t checked, that\'d be an easy something to look for.

it has it\'s own shelf, but I store the controllers & usb cords off to the side... I\'ll move them and see if that solves it. Thanks, guys!

The exhaust vents are to the right of the PS3\'s front. If it\'s blocked....it could become a problem. Also, the front intake vents need to suck in cooler air. Can\'t recycle the hot air it just vented.
