Where nothing becomes something within nothing outside of everything.

Lost is back on TV. Not quite as good as Oz, which I\'m watching the entire series now, but I still love it. Decent sci fi gets me every time.

Oz is an all time great series.

I\'m currently going thru Quantum Leap. Also just finished watching all of The Office and 30 Rock.

Dr. Who Rocks.

Currently enjoying the final season of Battlestar Galactica.  Thought they would be wrapping shit up faster than they are right now, but I\'m interested to see how they end it.

I really need to get the Wire sometime. Just can\'t throw out 100 bucks for a TV show series right now even though going into it I know its going to be one of the best shows ever.

I wish Oz didn\'t randomly kill so many people. That\'s the only thing really bothering me...that shit plot lines like the "ageing pill". Some of the stuff comes out of nowhere only to serve the audience its dose of shock value. I mean Lost keeps you interested with more questions and cliffhangers, which definitely remains a fault, but Oz needs to transition better. Still one of my favourite shows of all time and I\'ve yet to finish the series.

Heh...i have that comic...there\'s no way they are going to kill batman. Maybe that batman was an android double or something, but he\'s far too popular for them to kill off....on the other side of the spectrum tho, marvel did shock me with the death of captain america...i thought they\'d never kill him.

Grant Morrison (current Batman writer) all but confirmed that we would see more stories involving Bruce Wayne in the near future. And remember, Darkseid hit him with the "Omega Sanction", a beam that sends the user to a place where he\'s forced to live out life after life in hell. Also displaced The Forever People and Sonny Sumo in different time periods. So yeah, not completely dead.

Dick is definitely the new Batman soon.

Oz thoughts, spoilers.

The spoiler tag is fucking broken too.
Hate how every muther fucking character seems to die or get fucked over in every possible way. Sayid\'s shooting=random=no emotional impact=fail. It resulted in a boring little weasel character and the death of Omar off screen after he made a redemption with the audience after being one note annoying. Miguel\'s story ended in an implausible way. He never backed down under worse circumstances but finally gives it to some gay douche bag.

The Tobias/Keller relationship ended on a dumb note after it should have been resolved earlier. Tobias paroled, Keller happy for him while suffering in Oz for his sins...OVER. The relationship ran itself out and everything which followed was painfully predictable and boring.

No resolution to the McManus storyline. Warden\'s death sucked, the basketball player\'s story was so lolbad in the end gah so many sour plots leaving that taste in my mouth.

Season 6 was a disaster. Ruined 5 great seasons and knocks it down on the all time great list. 3-5 were definitely the best for me. 1-2 tried too hard to be dramatic and shocking while 6 went completely overboard.

Cyril\'s death....OH OHH did that suck. After the previous episode moved me to tears they just throw out the same shit and hope it sticks. It fell hard.
I was trying to explain to someone here at work that bruce isnt really dead... he\'s just "anti-life" now.

And yeah, I think it\'s gonna be Dick, too.

Which is cool with me.

Battle for the cowl should be interesting... But I\'m REALLY looking forward to Neil Gaiman and "what ever happened to the caped crusader".

Final Crisis 7 tomorrow! As much as the series has confused the shit out of me I\'m stoked to read the conclusion.

Got Kingdom Come, Superman For All Seasons, Silver Surfer Requiem, and Final Crisis 7.

Not gonna lie, I know pretty much everything about the DCU but even I needed to immediately reread the issue to fully understand it and I\'m still (intentionally by Morrison probably) left in the dark on some things.

Pretty fucking epic though.

I\'m just gonna wait a read the whole thing 1 - 6 again then 7. I like Morrison... I really do, but I think he HAS to know when he comes up with this shit that he is probably the only person in the world who fully understands it... Maybe he gets off on that.

I just ordered Stray Bullets volume 2. An oldie from my favorite writer David Lapham. I also found out he had a run on Detective Comics that they put into a TPB called "Batman - City of Crime" so I ordered that too.

Today my list was....

Final Crisis 7
Star Wars Legacy 32
The Stand 5
Punisher War Zone 6

I would usually be getting Batman too, but this whole catwoman/Hush thing just doesnt interest me at all.

If you haven\'t read The new Punisher War Zone... Do it.

It\'s a 6 issue miniseries that ended today.

Nobody writes The Punisher like Garth Ennis.

Widmore revelation=sickly awesome.

The Batman issue was pointless if you didn\'t follow Heart of Hush. It accomplished making Hush a legit villain again, if nothing else.

Anybody pick up ultimatum?....It\'s a pretty interesting storyline involving magneto from the ultimate series. A few heroes have died already and what happened to the wasp was really f**ked up. I wonder how they plan to bring some of those heroes back since they killed off quite a few in only the first couple of issues.

And jumpy I just received silver surfer requiem as well....i\'m going to have to get the back issues on that one. I only have the first issue, but the dilema that the surfer is going thru is a bit disheartning and sad...the surfer is a really cool character.

Ultimatum=Jeff Loeb=POOP. God he\'s fucking ruining comics with shit like Ultimates 3 and Hulk.

That being said I just bought Superman: For All Seasons, which was written by him...but he\'s got his butt buddy Tim Sale backing him up, and they always produce quality comics.

I love sour and spicey foods but man, hot wings...too far.

I remember at university I wanted to try them out. I ordered them and when I received these bad boys I could feel my eyes tearing up. I decided to eat them back in my dorm room in case I wimped out and what a smart decision that turned into. Could barely stomach one. It burned my throat and especially my lips since it was cold and dry Canadian weather. Brutal, 7 wings, threw em all out. My lips feel like they\'re going to burn just remembering them...

Something about Kirkman\'s writing bothers me. The way he uses captions in Invincible titled me to no end. I only read one issue of Walking Dead, and hate the fact that its black and white. When I buy a comic, I expect the art to be pretty enough to enjoy in itself without the words. The issue I read was 48 and everyone died so yeah I have no real interest in unrealistic massive zombie death stories anymore. Fucking hate zombies I\'m probably going to have another zombie dream tonight and I BLAME YOU.

Dunno how you can ignore superhero comics. Some great stories exist in worlds with no budgets and limitations. Grant Morrison obviously writes the shit out of Batman and in my mind All-Star Superman is the greatest story of the decade. Anything Geoff Johns writes is usually gold. Green Lantern is considered by many to be the best monthly comic right now. Kingdom Come and Watchmen are probably the best piece the medium ever produced.

The only non superhero stories I own are Y: Last Man (fucking brilliant), Invisibles...I think that\'s it.

I know Walking Dead isn\'t for everyone. I\'m a sucker for a good zombie story, and I love the fact that kirkman wrote a zombie story about the poeple dealing with it, and not the zombies themselves. I\'ve never read Invincible so I can\'t speak on it at all.

I should clarify my superhero statment... It\'s not that I dislike superhero comics. Theres just... so... many of them. I can\'t keep up on whats good and what sucks.

I read All star super man and loved the hell out of it. But that came highly recommended to I gave it a shot.

If you give Green Lantern a try, which is probably the one I\'d recommend the most...you need to go back to the beginning of Geoff Johns\' run, which starts at Green Lantern: Rebirth, then goes into the 1-numbers. Rebirth is an easy buy since Ethan Van Sciver draws the art, and he\'s fucking brilliant. You could stare at his pages for hours and not notice all the subtle details. Him, Doug Mahnke, and Frank Quitely are my top 3 DC artists.

His doing sort of a trilogy. Rebirth was the first one, Sinestro Corps War 2nd, and The Blackest Night is coming this summer. Sinestro War was pretty much universally declared as the best superhero "event" in years. Blackest Night arrives with every dead superhero/villain rising from the dead. Picture Star Wars with zombies. All the internet nerds are hyping this to be the greatest thing ever.

And I hate to plug Marvel, but Thor is pretty fucking epic. The recent volume at least. Written by John Michael Straczynski (legit Hollywood writer, wrote script for the Changeling), drawn by Oliver Coipel, easily one of the best written and looking books out there. Very easy to get into as well. Reads like a LOTR story with beautiful pictures.

At the local bar/restaurant by my college, they have a sauce called I dare you. First time I bought them, my friend was my waitress and she warned me how hot they were. Yeah he was pissed, but he was acting like a pre-madonna or however the term is used...he could\'ve stated what he had to say and be done with it...but he kept going on and on....some of these hollywood actors think folks need to kiss the ground they worship.

And there are always people around when scenes are being rehearsed...there are background noises and everything....the thing is when you see the actual movie, those noises are edited out....so he needs to stop acting like a f**king crybaby and say his damn lines.

Bulls might make the playoffs this year. Still a franchise in disarray, probably need a couple more years before they turn into a legitimate threat for anything.

:( Would make a good pic.

I knew Jin was alive. If there\'s no body, then there\'s no death. Comic book death rule 101 which Lost follows.

That Charlotte chick looks good in dem jeans.

Title: General Content Thread
Post by: Jumpman on February 06, 2009, 12:47:29 PM
We could have a lost thread, an nba thread, a comic thread...but they\'d be me talking to one or two people. Same with the hockey thread. I fucking hate hockey, but in small doses I can appreciate it.

I just thought we could have something where we post meaningless shit that\'s been going on lately. Like a community thread or blog for everyone. I see a lot of threads like this on other boards. General content=I masturbated twice yesterday. This doesn\'t undermine off-topic, it just reduces the clutter and adds it to this thread.

I made the video thread to kind of derail all the topics where it\'s nothing but a blank video too. I like funny video, hence why I made the thread, but it\'s usually the same people posting in every one. Now, if you want to see a funny video...you can go there for a healthy amount whenever you feel like it.

Just trying to improve the forums with simple and maybe necessary additions. I love the idea of topic specific threads that go on forever.

In that case.

I just got electric back after ten days.

I masturbated to my porn collection soon as I got home. Three times.

Talked to a friend on the phone the rest of the night. We fell asleep on the phone.

Txting a friend now.

About to go shopping and return my parents car they let me borrow yesterday.

Holy shit - its like Twitter, but it\'s not twitter!

Seriously though, I agree with Jumpy. I\'ve seen threads like this on other forums and they rock.

Anyone else watch The Office?!!!?

I dunno how the Office stays relevant. Seems like the same concept for 4 seasons, and not a good thing since it\'s never the same quality as other comedies. Looking forward to Curb Your Enthusiasm returning more than anything.

Don\'t understand the point of twitter either.

Agreed and Kristen Bell having no ass.  Never really thought she was anything special.

Agreed on Charlotte having a nice ass though.  Not that into Juliet though.  The fact that her character pisses me off so much can\'t help.

Lost has been fantastic this season.  Every episode has great little twists.  The time travel thing has been great so far.

NBA and NHL, I\'ll talk about any time.  I\'m a Knicks and Rangers person though, so expect a bit of frustration.

Rangers might be bringing back Sean Avery.  That would be...interesting.

And the Knicks...well, nothing they do matters until free agency starts in 2010.

Not too huge on her either.  Personal taste I guess.

On the sports vein, not sure if anyone else here watches soccer at all (unless Kopking is still around), or if I\'m just wasting my breath, but amazing win by Liverpool just now.  Rafa has lost it, but that was quite a second half comeback.

The fans know that we\'re playing for 2010.  A lot of them are just happy to be trying and be a somewhat functional franchise again.  But they know the expectation isn\'t to win in the short term.  It\'s all about wanting LeBron and Bosh or Wade in 2010.

Fables

Swamp Thing (Alan Moore)
The Invisibles

All "mature reads"

I think out of all the mature titles...Fables and Y The Last Man are by far the most "accessible". Maybe Walking Dead too. It sounds simple.

Sandman requires you put the effort into it like Swamp Thing (though rewards accordingly). I myself never finished Sandman because I lost interest/sidetracked but I acknowledge it as one of the best runs ever just because of the acclaim.

Ex Machina is a political superhero comic. Very well written and drawn. Might require a certain taste but I love it.

Transmetropolitan and The Invisibles remain the most "out there" suggestions. I love Invisibles since its Grant Morrison\'s crowning achievement but find Trans somewhat off putting at times (occasionally makes me laugh out loud). You should sample before you commit to either of these.

Watchmen, Kingdom Come, and Dark Knight Returns are probably the best "single trade" stories out there.

Every comic I\'ve ever read, ever?

Heres my current pull list, off the top of my head... Not really counting the mini series I read... These are all just the ongoing books I read.

Walking Dead
DMZ
Northlanders
Conan the Cimmerian
Uncanny X-Men
Young Liars
- canceled :(
Air
Thor

Anything Garth Ennis writes
Wolverine  Old Man Logan... I\'m pretty sure after this arc I won\'t be reading this anymore
Wolverine Weapon X - Cause I love Jason Aaron so I\'m giving this a shot. Issue one was so-so.
Scalped
Kick-Ass
Viking
Hellboy

Also, I\'ll be reading that new Batman series from Morrison and Quietly for sure. I\'ll probably drop the main Batman book for that one.

Ummm... Thats all I can think of. Mix in there the occasional TPB. I\'m reading Sandman and Preacher now as trades.

I go back and forth on Kick Ass... I thought the last issue was good, but the two before that were horrible. I really think Millar just cares about getting his shit made into movies more than he does writing quality comic books anymore. War Heroes came out regularly until it got optioned for a movie, and we havent seen an issue in 8 months now.

It\'s funny you mention The Invisibles and Unknown Soldier, cause Invisibles is my next TPB purchase and I have been strongly considering starting to read Unknown Soldier...

I just finished Y a few weeks ago... Fucking awesome last issue.

War of kings hasn\'t been bad so far either....but the dark reign series by marvel so far imo has been incredibly weak....ultimatum(ultimates universe) started off interesting, but issue 3 was a bit dissapointing for me. They got rid of kennedy?...He was actually one of the better superstars on the show and it seemed like they were building him up for a showdown with orton...that\'s probably why he left...batista and cena have been hoggin\' up the championship spotlight for far too long.....kennedy goin\' against orton would\'ve been different and fresh.

Not to mention that batista and cena have poor wrestling skills and their matches are actually boring...the mid-card wrestlers perform waaay better than the top tierd wrestlers...they should\'ve just gave both batista and cena a vacation by giving them fake injuries and let kennedy create a feud with orton...the only guys you see in the top matches are triple h, batista, cena, ?& orton...they need to give other strong upcoming wrestlers a shot.

RAW is just total horse shit right now.  Smackdown, on the other hand, has been amazing lately.  It\'s like they took all the big slow tough guys that can\'t wrestle and put them on RAW, and took all the quick talented guys and put them on Smackdown.  Triple H, Batista, Cena, Orton, and Big Show are the main eventers on RAW, vs. Edge, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk, Umaga, Jericho and Mysterio on Smackdown.  I mean, that\'s not even close.  There\'s only a couple guys I can stand on RAW anymore (The Miz is great.  Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy...)

Beautiful shot of the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre looks great too, but its even more gorgeous at night time. Would love to go to Paris, so much history, so many interesting things to see.
