It went live today, I don\'t know if you guys like testing OS\'s, but Windows 7 looks pretty solid. Anyway, I was using the beta and loved it, looking forward to the fixes in the RC.

dumb question...are they still supporting vista? or are they planning to phase it out with windows 7?
-
yes they\'ll still support vista. they still support XP:
We plan to provide support for Windows XP until 2014.

Can\'t wait for Win7 to be released. Vista64 flies in my computer but if the newer one takes up less resources and won\'t ask me a million admin/permission questions with pop-ups that\'ll be a great thing

They removed all the retardedness of Vista and kept all the good stuff. Finding folders isn\'t confusing as hell anymore either... they sort of copied the Mac sidebar, but that\'s a good thing. It\'s a much MUCH smaller install... and I was even able to run it on an older laptop I tested. It sat idle at around 300MB of RAM on a clean install. And the User Account Control isn\'t a major headache anymore either (you can turn that off, by the way... the annoying pop up... thing).
It just seems more stable overall.

I installed it the other day because our computer was up shits creek and needed to redo it anyway. Runs very smooth, although the only thing we do on that computer is email and internet so I figured it would be safe to run a beta.
-
i think the beta is more stable than vista sp1 anyway

I\'ve been running Vista Ultimate at work for over a year without a crash or slowdown or any problem. I develop on 2 different platform, my PC really gets busy.
Finding folders isn\'t confusing as hell anymore either
I dont understand ? explorer is the same. Crumble Bar(sp?) at the top is the same as vista. The only difference are the new Librairies which are kickass hehe.
I\'ve installed Win7 on my work machine (clean install. core2 e6850, 4gig ram). After the quick format, the installation took 13 minutes to boot and have my desktop ready. I did a quick run around changing my folder options. downloaded Firefox and AVG. reboot. install Lotus Notes 8.5, Eclipse Studio 6.1, Adobe reader9, photoshop 7, foobar, office 2007, messenger.. reboot.
everything worked with no trouble. I had a problem with one network printer and it\'s only because I needed to download the x64 drivers. It\'s been 7 days now. My computer is more responsive then it was before.

I meant the side bar in an open window actually goes to what you want it to, like when you click Downloads or Documents it doesn\'t bring you to a giant labyrinth of other folders where you still have to click through to get to the fucking folder. It just goes to it when you click it.
downloaded Firefox and AVG.
Why would you download AVG? It just got some pretty bad scores recently in terms of virus detection/removal. It\'s a honking piece of crap. Avast and Avira scored higher.
The only difference are the new Librairies which are kickass hehe.
That might be what I\'m referring to.

mm..sooo turns out it looks like vista was the reason my computer has been locking up for nearly a year...put xp back on and havent had it lock up
Think im going to try the windows 7 beta when im for sure vista was the problem. anyone hear any problems people have been having with windows 7? I have 30 days to use xp..not sure if that means I cant use xp anymore or if I just wont be able to get stuff like service packs
