Gentlemen....i\'m thinkin\' about goin\' to southbeach florida for vacation this year, but i was trying to find a beach down there that has like a boardwalk full of amusement rides and things like that for my kids. One of my menz in jersey told me that you do NOT wanna take your wife or kids down to southbeach,( alot of sexy cuban women walkin\' around in bikini\'s..:D) but i\'m sure that they have family friendly beaches down there.
I\'ve checked a couple sites on the net and while some do say that they have aquariums and museums for the family, i was almost sure that every beach has at least one boardwalk full of amusement rides/arcades...if anybody has any info..it\'d be appreciated...:fro:
I\'ve been pumpin\' iron all winter long, so me body is fit like a GI Joe action figure!!...

SoBe is NOT for children.
-
wait... you have kids? I would have pegged you for a teenager
yikes! I was way off
Well have fun on your vacation.

Try Southern Calfornia instead. Santa Monica has a boardwalk and a little amusement park, and of course every thing else you could imagine is somewhere in the Los Angeles area.

Dont get me wrong, lots of things to do down here with kids, but not SoBe.
If you come down to SoFL with the kiddies check these places out.

Thanks fellas....maybe me and the wifey, will go down there for a weekend this summer on our own....i just wanted to check out florida because i\'ve never been there, and since i\'m just a click north of it, i figured why not....
I\'ve been to just about every Hot beach spot on the east coast...florida would\'ve completed the cycle.
*just in*...my wife just called from work and stated her friend told her to try panama city in florida...so we MIGHT go there...thing is tho i really wanted to check out the southbeach nightlife in florida....if florida doesn\'t work out, we\'ll probably end up goin\' back to myrtle beach....which is fine by me...there\'s a bunch of stuff to do over there and it\'s kid friendly too....again thanks fellas...:fro:
@Core....I\'d like to do Cali, but the airfare would probably kill me....including me and my wife my family total is six.

i mean if its for the kids just go to orlando. there plenty to do in orlando without going to disney/universal. sea world is pretty good though

Yea, that is a better idea if you still wanna do FL with the family. Hell you can even sneak away from them and be in SoBe in 3 hours :)

Don\'t do panama city, it is asstastic!!! It is more geared towards college kids on spring break than a family vacation.

If you are taking kids, go to Tampa/Clearwater. We have Bush Gardens/Adventure island, 45 minutes from Disney and one of the top ten beaches in the world. Unless you are spanish or are into not understanding a fucking thing, avoid Miami at all costs.

Another vote for Orlando. Check out some of the deals on Travelzoo: http://hotels.travelzoo.com/orlando-hotels/
We go to Florida often, as a kid my favorite memories are from Orlando. And yes, most of this includes Disney and Univ Studios. :) There are tons of other things to do like JoP mentioned: Trip Advsior (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g34515-Activities-Orlando_Florida.html), but also take the fam to Universal for a day. You can\'t do anything Disney in a day without the kids wanting more.
Panama City & Destin are great if you want a low-key beach stay (and to save money!). It\'s not as built up like all the other beaches. Think OBX vs. Ocean City MD. Tradeoff is it can get boring after 3 or so days. If you want this trip to be memorable spend extra and get a beachview hotel. Nothing like keeping your window open and waking up to the sound of the waves.
Miami/Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale can still be enjoyable with a family but keep in mind these cities are geared more towards the 21+ crowd. Expect to see a ton of restaurants pushing mimosa deals. That said the family will enjoy the boardwalk at Miami, and the beach/beachfront in Ft. Lauderdale. There\'s also Las Olas Blvd (http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/) which is great to walk down, the wifey will love that. At the northern-most point you can check out the little waterfront and take a ferry (http://www.anticipation.com/riverfront/) that will go along the intercoastal waterway and point out all of the billionaire\'s homes. Very scenic. Also recommend the Vizcaya Gardens if you like white people stuff: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g34438-Activities-Miami_Florida.html
Cali is a lot of fun as well, but I generally prefer Florida for more touristy-type stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions THX....but we ended up makin\' plans for myrtle beach. They just rebuilt one of the main amusement parks down there...and the place we\'re stayin\' at has a really nice bowling alley/huge indoor and outdoor pools and arcades and a ton of stuff for the kids..like i stated earlier tho, me and the wifey will probably plan a short weekend trip to miami...without the kiddies....:fro:
