I can\'t believe someone got that first shot. That is amazing. That is the image the world has of Los Angeles, and you know what? Sadly it\'s not that far from the truth.

There is nobody in the league who is as good as Kobe Bryant. If he played in magic and birds time he would have owned them. The guy cannot be stopped. There is nothing bad you can say about the man when it comes to the game of basketball.

But like always everyone will suck on MJ\'s harry balls.

sorry, here in Canada they ran these \'heritage moments\' commercials all across the country as a kid and into my teens and one of them was about basketball. I\'m not a basketball fan but I just wanted to use the rare opportunity to put the information from the commercial to good use to make up for the hours i had to spend watching the things

I suppose you\'re one of those people who loves Shaq because he\'s BIG.  Maravich was a fucking wizard.  He worked his ass off, and he could score in ways no one else has ever done.  He was an Assist Master, which is the greatest skill in basketball.  If you don\'t agree, then you need to learn some more about the game.

Displaying me a hl video from the 70\'s shows your lack of knowledge for the game. 5.4 assists per game for your career ain\'t exactly an assists master.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/maravpe01.html

Awful numbers. Muhfucker can\'t even play a full season. But then again I\'m arguing with someone that think this guy should be in the top 10 over Shaq and Kobe.

And for the record Lebron James IS the undisputed best NBA player right now. While I think Kobe is #2, Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade could be considered better than him at this point.

Awful numbers?  Career per game:
FG%  3P%  FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PTS
K. Bryant    .455 .341 .840 5.3 4.6 1.5 0.6 2.9 25.1
M. Maravich  .441 .667 .820 4.2 5.4 1.4 0.3 3.7 24.2

He\'s looking kinda like Kobe.  The game was more violent in the 70s, I\'m sure more injuries would be expected.

BTW he attained 24.2 PPG without a 3 point line for 9 of his 10 seasons.  he was consistently in the 20s year after year, even got 31 PPG in 1977.

His assists aren\'t even that impressive when you realize he probably committed 3-4 TO\'s per game.

How many times did his teams enter the playoffs? How many rings did he win? Did he have another top ten all time player beside him during these periods?

What does this guy have that earns him a top 10 spot over Kobe and Shaq? hE\'S WHITE AND MADE COOL PASSES? Go to a basketball forum and claim Pete Maravich is a top ten player and you will probably be banned for trolling.

I can throw whatever the fuck I want out there cause nothing supports the idea that Pete is a top ten player.

And my numbers point is based on his inefficient scoring. Ie, FG% and TS% which is an advanced stat cause I\'m that into basketball and I\'m willing to bet I know more about the NBA than anyone on this board and go fuck yourself.

That RJ trade is a fucking steal for SA too. If they can use their MLE to sign someone like Sheed then I\'d say they\'re a step below the LA/Cle level and on par with Orl/Boston. Contenders again. All of this depends on Duncan\'s and Manu\'s health though.

There is noway on god\'s green earth you can compare chris paul and wade to Kobe. Kobe has 4 rings Wade has 1 and Paul has none. Kobe has proven each year he is one of the best to ever do it. While I do believe lebron is good. He showed this year in the post season why he is not better than kobe.

There is a fact that the man is great. Ask any of the top NBA greats the guy is one the best and is always considered by everyone the closes thing to MJ. In my opinion is has weapons MJ did not have.

When I say Lebron is the best player now I\'m saying he is the most effective and efficient player in basketball. IE, someone that a team could acquire to make that team the best it could be. Kobe\'s been that guy for the past 4-5 years or so but not anymore.

I keep hearing this on NBA forums and the only reasoning I heard was in reference to their exit in the first round this year. It seems like everyone forgot Ginobili was out, and I don\'t need to explain how critical that is.

Kobe can thank Shaq for 3 of his rings.  Those were Shaq\'s teams, at a time when Shaq was easily twice the player Kobe was.

You can easily argue Wade\'s a comparable player.

And all LeBron showed is he can\'t do it himself.  LeBron is clearly the better player right now.

No I said I do think they are on par with Bos/Orl. I probably should add the Nuggets to that list. Houston/Portland the next level down.

Problem is the West drastically favours who ever lands the 1st. Unless you\'re the Lakers, not an easy road to the Conf finals, and even then you\'ll have to play Hous/Portland in the 2nd round. Denver vs SA in the 2nd round sounds like its inevitable now. Lakers barely squeaked by them. They match up well with the Spurs too. Solid big rotation, tough wing players (Melo emerged this playoffs), and a leader in Chauncey. Same thing in the East though. Win 1st seed and take a seat in the Conf Finals.

RJ helps SA acquire another legit talent, but he becomes the 4th option on that team. Can he handle that roll? Assuming his defense improves by say 10-15%, he still remains as an upgrade over Michael Finley. They lack talent at the big positions. Matt Bonner? LOL. If they use their MLE to snag Rasheed or Marcin Gortat, then I can see SA as a more serious contender. Duncan\'s and Manu\'s health dictates their success regardless. 33 (turning 34) and 32 next year. I love Parker and consider him in the 10-15th range of best overall players in the NBA right now, but he carried the team toward the end of the season and they couldn\'t beat Dallas with him as the main option.

Right now I\'d say its going to be

1. Cleveland
2. Orlando
3. Boston
4. Atlanta
5. Washington
6. Philly
7. Miami
8. Charlotte

But I suspect Detroit jumps into contention if they acquire some big names with all their cap room this summer.

1. LA
2. SA
3. Denver
4. Houston
5. Portland
6. Utah
7. Dallas
8. New Orleans

What games have you been watching that last ten seasons. I will give it too shaq was a good player but shaq could not win nothing by himself. Nobody calls shaq one the greatest ever. He is def one of the greatest big man to ever play but Kobe is considered one the greatest to ever play the game. Now if you don\'t want to admit that then thats on you. Everyone has their prejudice in sports. Buts its plain wrong to talk as though this man has not did thing in this game that are just great. Bird or magic did not have the range and game this man has.

All are good players but realisticly they don\'t have his skill. All good players in their time. Too say he is MJ that is a lot but damn he is the closes thing to MJ the NBA. Lebron has to catch up. Win and then lets start comparing the two.

All are good players but realistically they don\'t have his skill. All good players in their time. To say he is MJ that is a lot but damn he is the closest thing to MJ in the NBA. Lebron has to catch up. Win and then lets start comparing the two.

My God.

Anyway... Bird didn\'t have the range Kobe has?

Also, did you know Shaq is currently fifth on the all-time scoring list?

Shaq for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, 46th Pick, & $500K.   Awaiting league approval.  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4285489

This is a good deal for the Suns (financially).  :)

Steve Kerr has destroyed that franchise... I don\'t know what he was thinking bringing Shaq in. He should have kept D\'Antoni, too.

A change of some kind was required.  I don\'t blame Kerr for agreeing to acquire Shaq.  (Kerr was against it, and D\'Antoni was for it).  Also don\'t blame Kerr for leaning on D\'Antoni and asking him to use his bench more and emphasize defense.  That was what led to D\'Antoni quitting.

I DO blame Kerr for hiring that idiot Terry Porter as head coach.  He should have hired from within and promoted Alvin Gentry in the first place.  We\'ve seen clearly that Gentry\'s methods and the level of trust he has developed with the players produced an environment AS GOOD or BETTER than D\'Antoni\'s tenure.

Shaq was an experiment.  We all knew he was not a long term solution, but rather a short term experiment.  The experiment paid off to a degree, but not as much as everyone hoped.  Now it\'s time to move on and try something different.

Stick a fork in the Suns, cause they\'re finished.
