He\'s right.....i\'ve even heard one republican stating that by voting against his bill, we\'ll "break him"...those are the types of a$$holes that will vote against anything democratic,..no matter if it\'s a good bill or not.
As far as trying to bring folks together....he\'s trying to do that...his stimulus package actually had alot of republican input.....he\'s patiently working with republicans on the healthcare scenario....he has his own thoughts on healthcare, but he\'s also letting congress come up with their own plans to see if something better comes out of it...in other words he\'s not just ramming his personal plan thru,..he\'s giving others a chance including repubs, to shape healthcare.
-
So you agree that he\'s two-faced?
Finally!
-
So wait a minute, you want someone who only does one thing that he wants to do and will not listen to input from the "other" sid and refuses to make concessions?
You are fuckin retarded.
And b4 you say it, yes I know you didnt say it.......
-
Is there supposed to be some point in that video?
Because if so, it\'s weaker than an Applebee\'s Pina Colada.
-
He wants to unite and divide at the same time!
Oxymoron!
Does not compute!
In actuality though, I have never seen a bigger divide in this country since Obama became President. People are angrier now than ever and are blaming it on their fellow (albiet wealthier) citizens.
-
You have a really short memory. Or maybe you weren\'t paying attention to politics during the Bush administration?
Just because there are some inarticulate old crazies coming out of the woodwork to howl about fictitious threats to their medicare benefits, doesn\'t mean the nation is more divided than it was under Bush. It is in fact considerably less so. You may recall that President Obama won in a landslide, and those supporters are still holding out a lot of hope that he will overcome the nattering nabobs of negativism such as yourself.

I see a lot more hate now than I did 12 months ago. End of story.
And by your negativity was well received during the Bush administration. What\'s fair is fair.

A lot of the people who are bent out of shape have been misinformed by conservatives. Republicans have always been vicious and they\'ve turned it up for the health care issue. A lot of it is misguided, ignorant anger. Basically, sheep who have been told to be angry.
The only thing to be upset about is that taxes might go up if we don\'t cut spending elsewhere. Health care for all is a no-brainer, funding it is the only issue worth discussing.
Is there a picket line I can join for that sentiment?
The worst thing of all is that with all the circus surrounding this issue, distracting from it, I get the feeling no one is going to end up even looking at being fiscally responsible. That\'s where we need to be united, making a plan that makes sense. We voted for the plan, the nation wants one, but please make it the best plan possible. Anyone?

I take it you only surround yourself with the same type of people then.
No way in hell is there more hate now than during the Bush years......no fuckin way.

Yes fucking way.
If I say anything bad about Obama I am automatically deemed a racist. Were there healthcare riots prior to Obama... no, because when people said they didn\'t want it they actually stopped. All the sudden these "representatives" don\'t care what their constituents think anymore and are just pushing along their agenda.
-
Obama and Hillary weren\'t hiding this health care idea. People knew what they were voting for.
Health care is the divisive issue du jour, but just because some conservatives are riled up doesn\'t mean the nation is angrier than ever. If anyone out there is deeming you racist for having a dissenting opinion, tho, I hope you\'re deeming them an idiot in return. There\'s no excuse for that shit.

Damn right!!...racist!!.....j/c....but i don\'t recall anybody calling you a self-centered bigot, confederate flag wavin\', kkk member, against affirmative action, only dates your own race lovin\'...racist....do you?

Yeah, I don\'t think anyone called you a racist. No need to play the victim.
BTW, there were no healthcare riots during the Bush administration because people were too busy rioting about Bush\'s unncecsssary wars, curtailing civil liberties, and inept response to natural disasters.

Ummm... I think its more than just "some" - there have been riots at just about every town hall meeting.
And here\'s a "Representative" who states he would go against his constituents even if it was 80/20 in favor of rejecting the bill. Isn\'t a representatives job to represent his people? Not just push his own agenda?

Yeah the town halls have been better than any action movie that came out this summer. Fuck District 9, the real carnage is on CNN when they cover all these town hall riots.
I\'ve just sat in front of the TV with popcorn and hand lotion all summer watching the riots and its been awesome. All this violence and entertainment AND FOR FREE. A cool thing about being Canadian is you get a front row seat for American riots (our riots only involve hockey or the french, both are lame) and thankfully the town hall riots haven\'t dissapointed. I wonder if these rioters who go to the riots have insurance for riot related injuries.

EDIT: Fuck! all those pics I just realized are from Europe :( I\'m trying to find some from the town hall riots. But until I do just trust me...people have died, women have been raped, children trampled to death in the rush of people to the microphone to be heard. Its bad man, its really bad. But its also really awesome. This never would of happened with an Asian president.

I would say so, although elected officials have felt both ways on that one for hundreds of years. "People elected me to use my judgement." vs. "I\'m here to do what the people wish me to do."
I prefer the latter, too, in theory. But if I were elected, I\'d want to use my own judgement, I bet, so it\'s a close call for me. Guess it depends on whether or not I agree with the guy, heh.
And Joker, there are way too many idiots roaming around. I see them where I live too. Gangs are shooting each other in the middle of our tourist areas now. Yippee.
Look at this link, people bringing pistols and automatic rifles to political protests because "we\'ve still got some freedoms here". Like getting health care is akin to slavery. It\'s just ridiculous. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090817/ap_on_re_us/us_obama_protesters_guns (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090817/ap_on_re_us/us_obama_protesters_guns)

You just sumed up everything i was going say....reps do listen to their constituents, but they also have to use their judgement in what they feel will produce the best outcome....and yes it was truly idiotic for those losers to bring guns while the prez was there for a meeting on healthcare.....all you heard from those idiots was "it\'s our god given right to bear arms".....s**t the f**k up....regardless of what political party you stand with, it was wrong for those a$$holes to show up with guns...even if it was legal.

Do Americans at least think its good that your country is engaging each other in a debate like this?
As an outside observer I think its a positive. I don\'t remember Americans really debating one another on various issues like this when Bush was your president. Obviously the two wars, sept 11, Katrina dominate debates about Bush. But it always felt like it was a debate played out in the media.
These days it seems like the citizens of the US are much more involved. I think its a good thing but then again i\'m not the one living there :P
-
I agree, more people involved is a good thing. Obama is good at publicizing what he\'s doing and since they\'re such big things, he\'s getting a lot of people talking.
There\'s a difference between being involved or opinionated and being a nutjob, though, and our media is finding lots of crazies to point cameras at, which doesn\'t really help anything.
-
That is how it always is.
Like when the local news covers some sort of murder or dog attack. There can be 50 educated people in the area to interview and the news crew will always find that one ghetto fucker or crackhead to do the interview.

In case anyone was wondering, it\'s called "leadership." There have been many important policy changes in our history that were not popular with the public. They became a reality because we had visionary leaders who were prepared to make the right decision, not the popular decision.
If we\'re not interested in leadership, then Congress is unnecessary. We can just invest in a home voting system, and the electorate can give a yes or no vote on every single issue. It shouldn\'t be hard to deduce how that would turn out.

Controversy creates cash - this is exactly what the media wants.
