PS3 Motion Controller Out In Feb?
Famitsu has reported that Capcom are targeting a February release for the motion control version of Resident Evil
The magazine says the game is aiming for a 18 February release date in Japan, but doesn\'t mention the inclusion of motion control which was confirmed at this year\'s Tokyo Games Show.
“Either Capcom has dropped the feature, or Sony\'s wand system will be launched simultaneously”
If the date above proves accurate, this can mean one of two things – either Capcom has dropped the feature from the launch version of the Alternative Edition (maybe planning to add it as one of the DLC elements later on), or Sony\'s wand system will be launched simultaneously, at least in Japan.
Of course, both game and tech could still be on track for a simultaneous spring launch. We\'ve contacted both companies to see what the dealio is…

Meh...i\'m not a fan of the wii\'s gimmicky bulls**t, and i\'m certaintly not a fan of sony\'s effort...as long as they have an option to turn off motion controls, i\'ll be happy....i will be pissed the f**k off if they try to implement this feature as standard on all games....

It will be a plus, clips.
Sony Patents Several Attachments for Wand Controllers
Sony has been doing a lot of brainstorming with their upcoming wand controllers, and has patented just about every idea you could imagine, and then some more.
This new patent by Sony Computer Entertainment shows several possibilities for their new motion/camera wand controller. It seems like Sony has gone wild and patented every possibility that they\'ve brainstormed. Either that or they\'re getting ready to surprise the world by simultaneously launching dozens of controllers with hundreds of combinations. None of these are officially announced, and it\'s a possibility that none of these will see the light of day. But it\'s very interesting to see just how serious Sony is about bringing some crazy new features to their controllers.
The patent application starts with a little history of how and why we want new awesome controllers:

PS3\'s \'existing franchises\' to get motion control
Sony\'s VP of worldwide studios has revealed that the firm\'s \'existing franchises\' are to get PS3 motion control support this year.
Speaking to CVG sister publication Official PlayStation Magazine, Michael Denny said that it was "important to us as the first party studio, as the flagship for PlayStation, that we\'re always pushing innovation".
Resident Evil 5 and LittleBigPlanet were shown at last year\'s Tokyo Games Show working with motion control.
When asked by OPM which titles we could expect to see working with Arc this year, Denny replied:
"We are both working on new games and looking at applications to our existing franchises."
What from Sony\'s stable would you like to see work with motion control, readers? Resistance, maybe? God Of War? Motorstorm?
Or perhaps the question should be what would you not like to see?

Gradius Arc? Color Us Curious, Konami
Konami may have come down with a case of shoot ‘em up fever and have a new Gradius game in the works called Gradius Arc.
They filed a trademark for Gradius Arc earlier this year, which was released into the wild Japanese trademark database today. Since it’s only a trademark we’re not sure what kind of game Gradius Arc could be.
Unless you count Otomedius, a spin-off, the last Gradius game was for WiiWare. Before that Treasure made Gradius V with Konami for the PlayStation 2.

is anyone planning on buying this?
not that I\'m into any of the motion sensor stuff, but if I had to pick one natal seems to blow this one out of the water. Granted the only use I\'ve seen of the "Move" is LBP, and it seemed kind of forced.
they said this one would "under 100 bucks". It may be worth that, but I probably wouldnt want to pay more than 40

Sports games and a lot of cool stuff will be developed for Move, and I don\'t think Natal will be better, just different.

SOCOM 4, played with PlayStation Move: our thoughts
We played with the PlayStation Move at the party last night, but at Sony\'s more intimate gathering at the W Hotel today it was easier to get a better picture of the peripheral. The main games on the floor were interesting, but the game we wanted to play? SOCOM 4, with the PlayStation Move.
This was the game that was aimed at hardcore gamers, and the guys from Zipper told us that they were able to get this build up in a matter of weeks; the tools Sony was providing its developers for Move support were intuitive. This was also the first time we were able to use the secondary, nunchuk-like controller to add analog movement to the Move. We were able to play the game for about 20 minutes.
Aiming the crosshairs with the Move worked well, and I didn\'t feel any lag. While I was new to the game, the firefights and encounters were a blast with the controller; there is something much more satisfying about aiming at the screen with a controller instead of moving an analog stick. This is a controller that\'s ready for more mainstream use in shooters, and the fact that Sony already has a high-profile release that uses the technology so well is heartening.
The d-pad allowed you to give commands to your squad, and you can send two groups of soldiers to different objectives. It almost felt like a real-time strategy game; you can set up some series covery fire if you\'re able to think that far ahead in the combat. "We\'re looking at gestures," we\'re told when ask about things like throwing grenades and the like. "[The Move] leads a lot of accessibility to a hardcore game like this."
The team at Zipper spent three months with the controller, and the work has paid off. Will we use the Move when we\'re playing online and care about our score? Maybe not. But it adds an extra layer of fun to the gameplay of a title that already looks mature. It took a little bit of talking to get behind the velvet rope to play this demo, but it was worth it. We\'re starting to see the promise.

EA \'not ready\' to offer Natal support for Tiger Woods 11
Developer EA has stated that it is omitting support for Microsoft\'s Project Natal on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 because it is not ready to employ the technology yet.
The latest game in the long-running golf franchise was announced last week and has been confirmed to support Sony\'s PlayStation Move controller, but not Microsoft\'s gesture-based control system for Xbox 360.
A spokesman for the developer told Joystiq that this is because it is "simply not in a position" to implement Natal functionality in the game, which is due to be released in June.
However, EA did not rule out using the device for future games in the series.
The EA representative said: "We are always evaluating new technologies and Natal would be a perfect fit for the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise."
Project Natal will be released in the holiday launch window of this year, while Sony\'s rival PlayStation Move is due out in autumn.

Sony: Move Targeted Equally At Core And Casual
SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has told us that the company will cater equally to mainstream and hardcore tastes with its new motion controller, PlayStation Move.
We asked him during a recent interview how Sony’s focus was spilt between making Move an effort to appeal to a wider consumer base, and about making traditional games work in a different way.
“I would say 50:50,” he responded, adding that the company currently has “more than 20 teams working on Move”.
The executive went on to explain why he thinks Move will appeal be appeal to hardcore audiences.
“The precision of the Move system allows game designers to create games as simulations and games with much more depth than other motion-based game experiences. We are sure that hardcore gamers will appreciate and enjoy the challenge, with a much finer control over how they interact with the game and achieve greater success in those games.
“It was very interesting to hear comments by a certain journalist who tried Sports Champions’ table tennis, who clearly enjoyed playing the game but complained about the lack of perceived one-to-one control at certain times," he added. "During the GDC event we were showing the game’s entry-level mode, which includes a lot of assists to ensure that everyone who plays the game for the first time can enjoy it. However, we plan to have in the final game a more simulation-based mode, which will allow expert users to really try out their skills. That promises to be a hardcore experience.”
SCEE’s head of developer services, Kish Hirani, also told us that Move is highly relevant to traditional gaming markets.
“As a hardcore gamer, I would play those traditional games but I wouldn’t finish them on PS3 – I’d go back to PC because I like the mouse and keyboard,” he said. “When the firstperson shooter jumped on to console – and it’s something we only really jumped on to in this console generation – everyone hoped people would start hooking up a mouse and keyboard and start playing. But then they said: “Wait a minute, gamepads already work”. What’s exciting for me is that I can definitely see myself playing SOCOM all the way through with a motion controller, especially in singleplayer. So that’s an exciting market I don’t think anyone’s tapped into."
Asked whether players have found that pads strike a balance between accuracy and exertion, he continued: “Well, we’ve kind of solved that problem by having the secondary controller. If you play SOCOM 4, it’ll probably answer your question; all it’s doing is using the motion controller for what you’d normally use a mouse for. It’s a very personal thing, but I don’t think I’ll make that move back to PC now because I’ve never found a controller that easy for firstperson shooters, or especially RTS games.”

PlayStation MOVE Hands-on
NowGamer gets some serious hands-on time with Move and explains why it\'s quite the Wii-beater...
Is it a high-definition Wii? Yes, it is. There’s no way around it; PlayStation Move’s first crop of titles brings nothing new to the motion control party in terms of as-yet unseen game types. But, how could it? Nintendo’s fun-mining device has been chomping at that quarry wall for the best part of four years and frankly, if it hasn’t already unearthed every treasure to be found, we’ll eat our hats and give you our genitals.
But it’s important to define what exactly does set Move apart from Wii, even if the answers are obvious; power – raw, high-definition power – accuracy on every possible plane of movement, and finally body-mapping; unlike Wii, Move utilises the PlayStation Eye to map your somatic movements in conjunction with those of your hands. What this breaks down to in real terms is a more coherent, cemented experience than anything we’ve previously felt while Nintendo-bound, even if the concepts themselves range anywhere from a faint non-directional whiff of originality hanging in the air, through to ideas so ‘old-hat’, the devs might have dug them up at Sutton Hoo. Bit of archaeologist humour there. Indiana Jones got it. And he’s cool.
“as a description, ‘intuitiveness’ doesn’t make the grade, where ‘superintuality\' just about does”
So now come join us on a text and video odyssey, where we ritually slaughter the pig of ignorance, while fuelling the hype-furnace just enough to sizzle the bacon of excitement.
Hardcore: SOCOM 4
SOCOM 4 could have gone two ways. Either the crowbarring of a brand new control system into such an established set of mechanics as those we expect to find in a third-person tactical shooter would feel as awkward and flaccid as a recently dead porcupine, or it might bring a new animal to the party altogether. The design ethos of Natal – according to the Microsoft PR whiz kids – is to remove the ‘barrier’ created by the presence of a physical controller; the difference being analogous to dry-humping either with, or without pants.
What’s interesting is how easily Move manages this in the case of SOCOM 4. It really was a matter of seconds before the skills we’d learned from Wii, Gears Of War, using a TV remote, whisking an egg, or waving a sausage at a friend to lend greater weight to our words, came to fruition. Although the game is far from easy, mastering its controls took seconds.
Aiming was taken care of as you would expect; moving the Move, moves the reticule, while the edges of the screen provide a soft push zone in which you can spin your viewing direction up, down, or through 360 degrees. At first, aiming is tough, but not in a Wii sense – you know, where you point at a part of the screen and the reticule attempts to follow an imaginary house-fly fiercely protecting a tiny crumpet – but in an accuracy sense. Such is its pin-point precision, you could shoot the hair off a dog’s back if only your touch were delicate enough. With gripping of the trigger button on the accompanying navigation controller (Nunchuck), pulling your character into cover, it all feels very natural and great fun.
Our only reservation so far is how long this may stand up to more than a ten minute blast, especially since SOCOM has substantial leanings toward online squad play.

Now I play in a home theater in the dark. I understand the control will be able to be seen since it glows, right? But how\'s the thing going to see me? And I\'m not standing up to play freaking SOCOM for hours.

The publisher confirmed that the PS3 version will feature enhanced visuals, plus "unprecedented realism and pinpoint gameplay mechanics" that will apparently bring every swing, serve and other associated movements to life from the comfort of your living room.
Racket Sports will feature an assortment of games to indulge in, including tennis, table tennis, beach tennis, badminton and squash. Look out for the PS3 version on store shelves in late 2010.

R.U.S.E Move Impressions
Pointing, gestures, and the light-up bauble have all been integrated in Ubisoft\'s World War II strategy game.
While we\'ve already seen what Ubisoft\'s upcoming WWII-themed strategy game R.U.S.E. looks like when played on a $20,000 touch-screen table, the setup is far beyond the monetary reach of mere mortals. The cheaper alternative is to use Sony\'s motion controller Move, which Sony announced would be supported at this year\'s Electronic Entertainment Expo. We sat down with the game\'s senior producer, Mathieu Girard, for a look at how the controller handles.
What\'s New: Though Move support was added to R.U.S.E. long after development was under way, it has been tightly integrated into the game\'s mechanics. The Move controller acts as a pointer, allowing you to highlight a group of troops, issue commands to them, or navigate menus in much the same way a mouse is used in PC real-time strategy games. Gestures have also been implemented; a swift swipe to right of the screen brings up the menu where you can select your troops with the pointer or via the analogue stick on the navigation controller. Zooming also gets the gesture treatment, where pushing toward the screen zooms into the map, while pulling backward zooms out. The light-up ball doesn\'t get left out of the action either; it turns red when you\'re hovering over enemy troops and green when selecting your own. Most commands can be performed using just the main controller, though Girard informed us that the navigation controller makes some commands easier to access, giving you quick shortcuts to the most frequently used ones.
What\'s the Same: R.U.S.E. still looks as great as ever, allowing you to sweep effortlessly from high-level battle-top views to detailed animations of your troops in the heat of battle. There\'s also a lot of game on offer, with a 15-hour single-player campaign, 20 maps, online play, and a vast array of unit types from which to choose. Though controls have been simplified and tweaked for the console versions, Girard assured us that R.U.S.E will still be a fully featured RTS, complete with a level of depth on par with the best on the PC.
What Impression the Game Made This Time: Though we weren\'t able to get hands-on time with the Move, from what we saw, it has been well integrated into the game. The gesture and pointer controls seem like a natural fit for an RTS, adding a level of fluidity that sometimes is lacking when using a standard pad. Zooming, menu, and swiping gestures all appeared to work accurately, without having to repeat motions to get commands to register. It remains to be seen how well the controls will work over long periods of play, particularly given the lengthy campaign matches that can take hours to complete. We asked Girard if Kinect support would be coming to the game, but sadly, it looks like Xbox 360 users will have to make do with the standard pad. He told us that it had been looked into, but given the issues Kinect has with players sitting down, it would be too tiring for them to stand up for the long periods of time matches can take.

Top Hand Rodeo Tour Announced for PSN and PlayStation Move
Hey guys, Chris here from Perpetual FX. We’re really excited to finally announce what we’ve
been working on exclusively for PSN: Top Hand Rodeo Tour! We are creating something no one has ever seen before, as there has been no rodeo game that will compare visually and from a gameplay standpoint.
Here’s a sneak peak of what it will take for you to become the top hand. Check it out!
With Top Hand Rodeo Tour, we really wanted to bring the full experience of professional rodeo to anyone and everyone asrealistically as possible. That’s why we chose to work with the PlayStation Move motion controller.
Everything in the game you play, see and hear was created from scratch and designed from the ground up for a completely fresh take on the modern face of rodeo. We have a ton planned for the game, including a variety of white-knuckle events like calf roping and team roping. We also are currently working on never-before-seen barrel and mounted shooting mechanics and track configurations, all of which will be playable in highly competitive online and local multiplayer.
For those of you who really want to channel your inner-cowboy, you’ll be able to customize your cowboy, cowgirl and horse visually, as well as upgrade and customize their statistics helping you down the line as the levels get better and faster.
Bottom line, we couldn’t be happier about working exclusively with Sony and using PlayStation Move to bring you guys and girls the most unique take on rodeo this side of the Rio Grande. Let us know what y’all think and be sure to check out our website for more information.

My wife really wants move, and I\'ll buy it on day one. I\'ll try as well :D

I went out and bought it yesterday finally, with an extra move controller. I played most of time on VolleyBall and was satisfied with only that. The controller itself feels really good in the hand. Its surpassingly lightweight. The glowing bubbles are weird and my neightbours must really wonder what the heck I am doing jumping around with glowing balls in my living room.
My most anticipated mini-games were volleyball and table tennis. I was really impress with volleyball, the game is fun and you can really direct the ball (playing with 2 controller) where you want. I was also happy with the velocity of your hits been represented quite well :D
I didn\'t like table tennis has much as I though I would. I\'ll try again tonight, maybe playing against the computer instead of my GF will change my point of view.
Gladiator game was kinda cool. I didn\'t expect anything, like I didn\'t even know it was in untill I read out loud to my GF the content of the box. There are a couple nice move and I complete some nice fight. My scores were low so I guess it can be even better when you master the dodge and parries.
I\'ll download planet mini-golf this week and wait patiently for more game to come out :D

PlayStation Move - 470,000 Units
Following a solid initial launch, VGChartz can reveal that as of October 9th over 470,000 units of Move hardware have now been sold in the Americas and EMEAA. Another statistic of interest is that over 600,000 individual Move controllers have now been sold in total (bundles and stand-alone), 130,000 of which are serving as 2nd, 3rd or 4th controllers for the 470,000 unique Move customers. Around 42% of Move sales are coming from the Americas with the remainder from EMEAA.
Sports Champions (bundled with the Move pack in America and with some hardware packs in Europe) has now sold over 380,000 copies, still selling at over an 80% attach rate and the key driver for initial Move hardware sales.

"My arms are sore from playing the Gladiator game. My shirt was soaking from sweat."
That was 2 weeks ago. Been playing it everyday. Especially Disc Golf. I\'ve actually toned my arms from this game. I play Gladiator left handed coz I don\'t want to be a one armed goon. :)
The motion with these controllers are quite precise.

Thanks for your thoughts, I\'ll buy Sports Champions tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Finally I\'m at Home for some rest, in Rome, after 4 months of hard crazy work.

Played Tennis Table a bit, it\'s funny, I\'ll try more tonight. I bought too many games lately...no enough time for the motion.

Played a bit more Sports Champions, it\'s funny. I like Tennis Table and Disco Golf, spent 2 hours today on both. I think I will buy a second motion controller to have more fun with the Gladiator.

Table tennis is pretty cool.
I saw the video I think of kill zone IIi and how they are going to use the move. Looked pretty neat.
