I don\'t get why the media is slamming Toyota over the gas pedal recall. I keep reading things like people will lose confidence in the brand, we won\'t associate them with quality anymore, etc...
It sucks the gas pedal would get stuck but they are being proactive about getting it fixed. I\'ve never owned a Toyota before but I still think their name is synonmous with a long lasting car to me. Recalls happen...
Anyone feel differently? I honestly think the media is trying to drum up some drama here

The media always tries to drum up drama. President Obama can fart on camera and Fox News will try to link it to him being an unfit president. Media always blows things out of proportion to drum up ratings. What\'s worse is poor saps who watch tend to believe everything they say.

Took\'em two years to finally admit there was a problem though. Car forums have threads about these issues since last year.

Right, Toyota has not been proactive. The only reason they issued the recalls and halted sales is because the government told them to. They wanted so badly to believe the problem was caused by floormats, that it blinded them to the evidence being presented by many journalists and investigators.
It\'s really crazy what has happened to Toyota because they were once held up as a model of correct behavior in the face of product safety problems. They issued a big recall shortly after the Lexus brand was introduced in the 80s that is still referenced in the auto industry as the "right" way to do things. So much for that.

Floor mat "problem" is a joke. The Lexus owners say the mats are securely hooked in place and there is no way it could get in the way.

I kinda agree with THX here...lately the media has been acting like this is the downfall of toyota...will this thing hurt them?..yeah in the short term it will, but toyota has never had a problem with quality and reliabilty...i\'m sure you can still get over 300,000 miles in just about any toyota made vehicle.
This is just a small hiccup that it\'ll recover from within the next few months...granted if folks don\'t start driving off the brooklyn bridge and dying from that pedal gettin\' stuck...:eek:...that reminds me..i gotta relay this info to my menz in newark,nj...."do not steal camry\'s...stick with honda accords and acura\'s"...:fro:
