Title: I\'d avoid turning on your PS3 at the moment...

something weird going on with PSN, which even stops you from playing games like heavy rain offline for whatever reason (something about dynamic trophies..not sure how thats different from anything else)

that\'s the only game that\'s repeatedly having problems with SP.

I also heard from a couple people that ur saves could get corrupt, but that\'s hear-say, so that might not be accurate. But I dont want to even risk that possibility of losing my stuff so I\'m not turning on my ps3 till I know for sure it\'s okay

Last time i was playing was last night at like 8ish and everything was cool. Think this started this evening

I was too late.

Tried playing a handful on games, none work.  I did manage to finish uncharted 2 in this time though.  I can confirm that MW2 and MLB09 are not booting.

The only game that would piss me off if it got screwed up in MW2, I\'ve plugged a lot of mileage into that game and wasn\'t nearly finished yet.

This is either some leap year bug (makes me think because of the date) or someone hacked sony\'s network.

when did this start happening? I played a few MW2 games online this morning about 6am after I woke up. I didn\'t experience any problems then

I\'ve been reading posts on other forums about it, seems like people don\'t know what is causing it from what I read.

I read it now, and it seems the SLIM has no problem at all, just the fat.

I had trouble booting Uncharted, but restarted the system and it loaded fine.

There seem to be an internal clock issue which causes some FAT PS3models not to run correctly, even If they are offline and even units which never connected online. The issue causes the internal clock to be back to an earlier date, errors with synching trophies and issues with save datas which are corrupted. And background theme disappearing.

The Slim is perfect though.  It seems everything will be fixed before the end of this day.

Latest info on PlayStation Network Status

Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

    * The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
    * When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following
message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been
signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.
    * When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears
on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install
      trophies. Please exit your game.”
    * When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the
Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date
and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”
    * Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from the
PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

For the latest status on this situation please continue to check either the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

I tried to play my downloaded copy of Tekken 5 DR last night and it said it was corrupted.  I\'m hoping it was just this firmware issue and not an actual file corruption...

yea, I havent turned my stuff on yet but people are saying all their saves and stuff are okay. One person said their heavy rain trophies were gone, but maybe he was offline when he got them and didnt sync them er something.

that wouldve been a nightmare if people\'s saves got corrupted, lol

I would if I could, my friend. Not sure if I could sneak the PS3 in to my office without my staff calling me on it. I\'m not usually online until 8-9 pm EST during the week.

If it seems that I\'m online during the day, it\'s just my wife putting on a movie for my kids.

I never had this problem. Then again, I don\'t have my PS3 automatically sign onto the internet.

just said on the news it was caused by the system clock on old models trying to interpret 2010 as being a leap year.

My slim worked fine. I thought it was strange that I had 0 friends online.
